Ye Linchen returned to his rented room and first washed the rice to cook.
I bought a pressure cooker at the market today. It cooks rice very quickly, saving a lot of time.
The pressure cooker was hissing and steaming, and Ye Linchen would occasionally glance at the small alarm clock on the table, keeping track of the time.
The venting sound gradually subsided, so she turned off the heat. A few minutes later, after all the gas had been released, she opened the lid.
A rich aroma of rice wafted over.
The white rice was cooked just right, each grain distinct and translucent.
At the Ye family home, Meng Xueyun would always mix corn grits or sweet potato chunks into the rice to save money. Ye Linchen didn't like this way of eating; she preferred plain rice.
Now that I live alone, I can finally do whatever I want.
The vegetables were braised dishes bought at the market.
Because the newly opened braised food shop was offering discounts, Ye Linchen didn't hesitate and bought two yuan worth of braised meat.
The braised pork was thinly sliced and neatly arranged in a plastic bag, glistening with oil and looking very appetizing.
In addition to braised pork, Ye Linchen also bought some of her favorite side dishes: kelp knots, shiitake mushrooms, and shredded lettuce.
The owner mixed it with his secret chili sauce, which was fragrant and spicy, making your mouth water just by smelling it.
Ye Linchen put some braised meat and mixed vegetables into the lunchbox, intending to eat the rest that evening.
Steaming hot rice filled the remaining space in the lunchbox, its aroma mingling with the scent of braised meat, making one's mouth water.
Ye Linchen carried his lunchbox, walked to the desk, sat down, and began to eat eagerly.
Although it was just braised dishes, the meal tasted especially delicious to Ye Linchen.
It was the most delicious meal she had eaten since her rebirth!
Ye Linchen finished eating the last bit of rice, but the aroma of the braised meat still lingered on his lips and teeth.
It's been so long since I've had such delicious braised meat; I really want more.
Fortunately, she saved half of it, so she could have another meal that night.
Make another bowl of egg and cabbage soup, and dinner will be ready.
Ye Linchen got up and went to the kitchen, put the remaining food into the cupboard, and then started washing the dishes.
While I was washing, I heard someone shouting loudly outside.
"Ye Linchen! Is Ye Linchen home?"
Ye Linchen wiped the water off his hands and opened the door.
Outside the door, a middle-aged man in a blue work uniform was riding a tricycle and calling her name at the top of his lungs.
"Yes, I'm at home!" Ye Linchen replied hastily.
"Your goods! Curtains, duvet covers, and wadding."
The delivery driver jumped out of the vehicle and pointed to the several bundled packages on the truck.
"Could you please help me move in?"
Ye Linchen stepped aside to let the door open, and the deliveryman agreed and carried the items into the house, placing them on the ground.
"It's all here, just count it."
Ye Linchen squatted down and unpacked each item one by one.
Two thick cotton quilts, a pillowcase, a beige curtain, and matching sheets and duvet covers.
"The young lady has good taste; the color is so fresh and vibrant."
The delivery driver praised the curtains, then looked at the window and asked, "Do you have curtain tracks?"
"Yes, it was installed before."
Seeing that Ye Linchen was thin and small, the delivery driver offered to help.
Do you want me to hang it up for you?
"No need, thank you, I'll hang it up myself."
Ye Linchen politely declined her master's offer.
"Alright then, I won't bother you any longer! If you need to deliver goods in the future, just look for me at the entrance of the vegetable market. My surname is Zhang, and everyone calls me Lao Zhang."
Mr. Zhang took the delivery slip from Ye Linchen and left happily.
Ye Linchen closed the door, went inside, picked up the curtains, shook them open, stood on the desk, and hung the curtains on the curtain track.
The length is just right!
Ye Linchen skillfully pleated the curtains and fastened the hooks one by one.
The two new cotton quilts were fluffy and soft. Ye Linchen spread them evenly on the palm mattress and changed the sheets and duvet covers.
The beige bed sheets and duvet cover are printed with small floral patterns, echoing the curtains.
The fabrics that were originally inconspicuous hanging in the shop were transformed in a dramatic way just by being laid out and hung up.
The empty rental room became bright and cozy, and it felt like home.
Ye Linchen looked around and nodded in satisfaction.
This is the home she wanted: simple, comfortable, and completely her own.
This will be the beginning of her new life.
After tidying up the room, Ye Linchen took the textbooks and Feng Linlin's notes out of his backpack and placed them on the table.
The advanced class will start remedial classes after the Chinese New Year.
During this time, she plans to review all the knowledge points from high school.
Only after classes begin can students better understand what the teacher is saying, ask more targeted questions, and improve their learning efficiency.
There was a huge gap in teaching quality between the high school in her hometown and the school for children of steelworkers. Although she was admitted to the top class, it was only because of her memories from her previous life.
With her current skill level, she simply doesn't meet the requirements of the top-tier class.
She must make the most of every minute to study hard, get into university, and completely break free from the Ye family and her tragic fate from her previous life.
Ye Linchen opened his math textbook, picked up his pen, and began to review diligently.
Feng Linlin's notes are very clear and easy to understand. In addition, she has more than ten years of life experience than her peers, which has not only enhanced her memory, but also made her comprehension ability far superior to before.
Knowledge points that I couldn't understand before, I can now understand at a glance.
This feeling is like having your Ren and Du meridians opened up, as described in martial arts novels, making learning incredibly easy.
This gave her more confidence and more interest.
Time flies when you're studying, and before you know it, it's getting dark outside.
