Why hasn't Chapter Thirty-Seven returned yet?

That afternoon, Meng Zihan kept trying to persuade Meng Xueyun to apologize to Ye Zhenghua.

This incident affected Ye Zhenghua's work, and Meng Xueyun felt a little guilty, so she immediately followed Meng Zihan's lead and said, "Okay, when your uncle comes back, I'll talk to him properly."

When Ye Zhenghua returned from the factory, he had just opened the door when he saw Meng Xueyun holding a water cup with a smile on her face.

"Old Ye, you're back? You must be tired. Let me get you a glass of water."

Ye Zhenghua's heart pounded as he read this.

Why is Meng Xueyun suddenly being so nice? What is she planning?

After he changed his shoes, Meng Xueyun handed him a water cup: "Hurry up and drink a cup of hot water to warm yourself up."

Ye Zhenghua took the water glass, sat on the sofa, looked at her, and didn't say anything.

Meng Xueyun sat down carefully next to him, took his arm, and whispered, "Old Ye, I spoke too harshly today, please don't take it to heart."

Ye Zhenghua glanced at her but remained silent.

Meng Xueyun bit her lip and continued, "Old Ye, you know me. When I'm in a hurry, I don't think before I speak. Don't take it personally. I'll be more careful in the future..."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Although Meng Xueyun usually considers herself a virtuous wife and loving mother, she never thinks she would do anything wrong.

If something is wrong, there's always a reason for it.

It must be that Ye Zhenghua didn't do a good enough job.

To demonstrate his magnanimity, Ye Zhenghua never argued with her and always took the initiative to admit his mistakes.

It is quite rare that Meng Xueyun was willing to admit her mistake this time.

This also gave Ye Zhenghua enough face.

Ye Zhenghua's heart softened.

He sighed and put his arm around her shoulder: "Don't do this, the children are all here..."

Before he could finish speaking, the twins came out of the room and said, "Dad, Mom, please stop fighting."

Meng Zihan weakly called out, "Auntie, Uncle..."

Ye Zhenghua glanced at his family members who were looking at him with concern, and smiled: "Alright, alright, let's just let this matter go, don't mention it again."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Although the two reconciled, it did not lighten the atmosphere in the room; instead, it became even more oppressive.

Everyone went about their business in silence, no one spoke, and the room was so quiet that only the dialogue from the TV series could be heard.

Meng Xueyun sat on the sofa, watched TV for a while, then glanced at Ye Zhenghua, who was holding a newspaper but hadn't turned a page in ages, and couldn't sit still any longer.

She got up and walked to Meng Zihan's bedside, asking her softly.

"Xiaohan, how are you feeling now? Are you still in pain? Should we go to the hospital to get it checked out?"

Meng Zihan lay on the bed, shaking her head weakly: "Auntie, I'm fine. I didn't sleep well last night. I'll sleep a little longer."

Meng Xueyun gritted her teeth and muttered, "It's all that wretched girl's fault. She caused trouble by wanting to sleep in this room, and now the room smells terrible."

Meng Zihan strongly agreed.

Actually, she wasn't lying to Meng Xueyun; she really didn't sleep well last night.

I don’t know if Ye Linchen has fleas, but she always feels itchy all over when she’s in bed.

Even this room seems to have a strange smell.

However, she didn't show it, and instead smiled and said, "It's inevitable that my sister has nowhere to bathe in the countryside, I don't blame her."

Meng Xueyun touched her face tenderly: "Then you go to sleep, I won't bother you anymore."

After saying that, he got up and considerately closed the door, afraid that the noise outside would disturb her.

Meng Zihan stared at the door, lost in thought.

I don't know how this will end.

She didn't want Ye Linchen to come back, so that she would be the only daughter in the Ye family, and the Ye family would treat her with all their hearts.

But if Ye Linchen really doesn't come back, doesn't go to work, and doesn't hand over her salary, even if she gets into university, she won't be financially well-off.

She doesn't want to live a life that's restrictive, where she has to think long and hard before even eating a meat dish.

From this perspective, it seems better for Ye Linchen to come back.

Meng Zihan was so conflicted that he fell asleep without realizing it.

When she woke up, it was almost dinnertime.

You can hear the sounds of pots and pans clattering in the kitchen.

It was Meng Xueyun who was cooking.

I didn't hear Ye Linchen's voice.

Has she not returned yet?

Meng Zihan couldn't stay in bed any longer, so she quickly got up, opened the door, and left the room.

Ye Zhenghua was sitting in the living room, reading a newspaper.

"Uncle, has my eldest sister not returned yet?" Meng Zihan asked.

Ye Zhenghua looked up from the newspaper: "Not yet. Why don't you get some more sleep?"

"I'm not going to sleep anymore, I'm fine now, I'll go help my aunt cook."

Ye Zhenghua nodded without saying anything.

Meng Zihan strode into the kitchen, and Ye Zhenghua frowned as he watched her retreating figure.

She was so weak at noon that she fainted, but in just a short while, her face was rosy and she looked better than anyone else.

This girl is very thoughtful.

Just then, I heard "thump thump thump..."

As footsteps approached upstairs, Ye Zhenghua immediately turned around and listened carefully.

The footsteps stopped next door, and Ye Zhenghua's face darkened again.

He shook the newspaper in frustration and continued reading, but he had no idea what it said.

"Where did that girl go?" he muttered to himself.

He spent the entire afternoon sitting in the living room waiting for Ye Linchen to come back on her own.

Whenever someone comes upstairs, he will prick up his ears and listen carefully, hoping that the footsteps will reach his door.

Unfortunately, the footsteps were either going upstairs or to the neighbor's house, but none of them stopped at their own doorstep.

He was very anxious, but he tried to comfort himself.

Ye Linchen only had three yuan and eighty cents on him. Even if he was very angry, he should have calmed down by dinner time.
