Setting off firecrackers during the Lunar New Year is a tradition. Ye Qing had heard about it many times on her way back from Xu Xiaoyue's house, and she was used to it. Even if she wasn't used to it, she wasn't the kind of person who was timid.
The reason I was startled was because it was so loud, it felt like it was exploding right next to my ear.
After the explosions subsided, Ye Qing slowly came to her senses, bent down to pick up the keys that had fallen to the ground, and as she was about to stand up, she saw fireworks going off behind her through the glass window next to her.
There was also someone waving something that looked like a sparkler.
Through the glass window inside the store, you can vaguely see a person standing in the fireworks waving a sparkler, seemingly grinning foolishly, and looking somewhat familiar.
After standing up, Ye Qing slowly turned around and looked at the distance behind him.
It was Xi Quan, laughing like a fool and waving a fairy wand.
Ye Qing wanted to laugh, but thinking about her current relationship with Xi Quan, she felt quite helpless about Xi Quan's actions.
"Xi Quan, we've broken up."
Upon hearing Ye Qing's words, Xi Quan staggered over to Ye Qing and handed her the unlit sparkler: "Here you go."
Before he even opened his mouth, Ye Qing could smell the alcohol on him. After he started speaking, the smell became even stronger, and he subconsciously covered his mouth and nose. Ye Qing asked with a hint of disgust, "Why did you drink so much?"
Xi Quan seemed not to hear Ye Qing's words and forcibly shoved all the unlit sparklers in his hand into Ye Qing's hand.
Then he turned around and walked back to where he had been standing, found the black plastic bag he had placed next to him, and took out several kinds of fireworks from it.
Then he prepared to light it, but perhaps because he had drunk too much, Xi Quan lost his balance, swayed, and sat down on the ground.
Realizing he had fallen, he instinctively tried to stand up, but for some reason, he just couldn't. Seeing Xi Quan disregarding his image and preparing to scramble to his feet, Ye Qing quickly went over and helped him up.
"Forget it, don't order anymore. You've drunk so much, and you smell so strongly of alcohol. There might even be some on your clothes. What if a spark ignites it?"
Alcohol is supposed to be volatile, but Ye Qing was still worried about the possibility of something going wrong. Besides, she didn't know when Xi Quan had been drinking. Although setting off fireworks seemed romantic, Ye Qing felt that if it meant risking danger for something flashy and impractical, then it was better to forget about it.
But Xi Quan ignored Ye Qing's advice. After standing up, he shook off Ye Qing's hand that was holding his arm and tried to light the fireworks again.
Ye Qing couldn't stop him, so she let him go. Who knew that Xi Quan's hand was shaking when he lit the cigarette? Ye Qing was terrified. She pulled Xi Quan up again, snatched the lighter from his hand, and prepared to send him away.
But Xi Quan was persistent, as if he was determined to fight the fireworks, and refused to leave.
He tried to light it many times, but it just wouldn't light. Xi Quan seemed to get angry, like a child who couldn't get candy. He angrily handed the lighter to Ye Qing: "You light it."
Ye Qing did take the lighter, but didn't want to light it.
Looking at Xi Quan with a hint of helplessness, she said, "Xi Quan, we've already broken up. You set off firecrackers in front of my shop during the Lunar New Year. If your mother finds out, I'll be in trouble again, you know that?"
Although it seemed pointless to reason with Xi Quan, Ye Qing couldn't think of any better way, so this was the only option for now.
Upon hearing Ye Qing's words, Xi Quan let out a burp, stared at Ye Qing for a moment, and then said, "This is outside the Huamao Hotel. I am the owner here."
Caught off guard by Xi Quan's retort, Ye Qing instinctively asked, "Are you drunk or not?"
It wasn't that Ye Qing was suspicious, but rather that Xi Quan's reaction was too clever. His answer not only perfectly avoided the key point of Ye Qing's question, but also emphasized that this was his territory.
Can a drunk person think this quickly?
However, when Ye Qing pressed him for answers, Xi Quan remained silent, insisting that Ye Qing light the fireworks.
Ye Qing couldn't quite tell whether Xi Quan was drunk or not. Although it was New Year's Eve and there weren't many people at the Hua Mao Hotel, Ye Qing was still a little worried that Quan Zhen would find out.
There's a saying that it's better to avoid trouble. After all, she's already broken up with Xi Quan, so it's best to avoid unnecessary contact.
But seeing Xi Quan's attitude, Ye Qing had no choice but to set off all the fireworks as Xi Quan requested.
The purpose was to get rid of Xi Quan as soon as possible.
Fireworks are just a fleeting burst of light; they're really not that beautiful.
However, it happened to be the Lunar New Year, and the sound of firecrackers was going off all around. Setting off fireworks was also in the spirit of the occasion. Although she felt that it was not appropriate to be so close to Xi Quan, the festive atmosphere made Ye Qing seem to forget all of that for the time being. She happily watched the fireworks and danced around like a girl her age, which was rare for her.
Xi Quan, who had been wearing a simple smile, turned his head and saw Ye Qing like this. He couldn't help but tilt his head and kiss Ye Qing.
Ye Qing, who was immersed in the joy of watching the fireworks, was startled by Xi Quan's sudden action. She subconsciously tried to push Xi Quan away, but although Xi Quan seemed drunk, he was very strong and Ye Qing couldn't push him away at all.
However, Xi Quan didn't go too far; he just kissed her.
Even so, Ye Qing was furious and had no mood to watch the fireworks anymore. Since they were all over, she turned to go back to the shop.
Seeing Ye Qing turn away angrily, Xi Quan's previously somewhat clouded gaze suddenly became much clearer. He quickly caught up with Ye Qing and grabbed her.
Ye Qing turned around and glared at Xi Quan: "What exactly do you want to do?"
Xi Quan said nothing, his only response to Ye Qing was a confused gaze, and he followed Ye Qing step by step.
After walking a few steps, I saw Xi Quan's shadow through the lights in front of the Huamao Hotel. His steps seemed much more steady, not as unsteady as before.
Ye Qing suddenly stopped and stared at Xi Quan without blinking.
Xi Quan looked at Ye Qing blankly, wondering why she was angry again.
Looking into Xi Quan's cloudy eyes, Ye Qing couldn't tell whether Xi Quan was drunk or not, so she could only continue walking forward.
Whether Xi Quan was aware of it or not, his steps became unsteady as he followed Ye Qing forward. He stumbled so much that when Ye Qing opened the shop door, he lost his balance and blocked Ye Qing behind the door.
He then took the opportunity to kiss Ye Qing again.
At first, Ye Qing tried to push Xi Quan away as before, but the two were very close. In the struggle, Ye Qing sensed a change in Xi Quan.
His change made Ye Qing a little flustered, but it also gave her an idea. She turned her head and said, "Didn't they say that drunk people are no good?"
Upon hearing this, Xi Quan suddenly looked up and glared at Ye Qing: "How did you know?"
It looked like he might strangle the person who let Ye Qing know these unspeakable things if Ye Qing dared to say another word.
Ignoring Xi Quan's anger, Ye Qing replied with a half-smile, seemingly unrelated to the question: "Weren't you drunk?"
