Chapter 193 I Don't Want to Play the Victim

It would be a lie to say Ye Qing wasn't angry when she heard Xi Quan's words, but since the child was still in the living room, Ye Qing couldn't have a big argument with Xi Quan. Besides, so many years had passed, and Ye Qing was no longer the country girl who had just come from Xiaoyao Village.

During his years abroad, Ye Qing has experienced a lot and changed a lot. He is no longer as impulsive as before.

So although Xi Quan's words angered her, Ye Qing remained calm: "Although we haven't been in contact for the past few years, I thought that after everything we've been through, there was at least some trust between us. But now it seems that I overestimated our relationship."

Actually, Xi Quan regretted his words a little after he finished speaking. Hearing Ye Qing say this, Xi Quan felt even more remorseful, which reminded him of the time when Ye Qing broke up with him.

He would rather Ye Qing be angry than be like this. Ye Qing looks too calm now, a calmness that frightens Xi Quan.

Ye Qing didn't delve into whether Xi Quan regretted it. She continued along her train of thought: "Since you distrust me so much and think that Liang Youjie and I have something going on, why don't you just get a divorce? For a person, experiencing something shameful once is enough. You definitely don't want to do it a second time. So since you think I'll end up like Xu Ying, then get a divorce before anyone else knows about our relationship."

Subconsciously, Xi Quan wanted to say, "Don't compare yourself to Xu Ying, because that would be an insult to yourself." But he swallowed the words back down. He was the one who started the trouble by talking about Liang Youjie. If he were to be righteous and indignant, it would seem too hypocritical and might make Ye Qing dislike him even more.

So Xi Quan quickly swallowed his words.

Ye Qing felt that she had made herself perfectly clear and there was no need to elaborate further, so she returned to the living room. Previously, Ye Qing had considered leaving with the child.

However, based on what Xi Yue said, Liang Youjie said, and what the two children said, Ye Qing knew that even if it wasn't Quan Zhen who was plotting against her, it could be her uncle and aunt. No matter who it was, she had to be wary and not let them harm her children.

However, I've just returned, and there are still many things I haven't sorted out yet, all of which require my energy to deal with.

In comparison, since Xi Quan said it was safe to live here, Ye Qing naturally believed him. In her opinion, given the relationship between her and Xi Quan, Xi Quan must be very good to the child, otherwise the child wouldn't have been calling Xi Quan "Dad" in such a short time.

For the sake of her child, Ye Qing decided to stay here for the time being.

As soon as they entered the living room, the two children rushed over and hugged Ye Qing from both sides: "Mommy, we're hungry."

Xi Quan, who was following behind Ye Qing, was trying to think of a topic to continue talking to Ye Qing when the child helped him.

Xi Quan felt that the two children were truly his angels, sent by heaven to help him.

Before he knew Ye Qing had a child, Xi Quan repeatedly imagined seeing Ye Qing again. He felt that Ye Qing would definitely cut off all contact with him this time, after all, they hadn't been in touch for so many years.

Xi Quan bears the greatest responsibility for this, and he does not defend himself or try to gain sympathy.

Who knew that fate would be so kind to him, that he would actually have children. Heaven knows how overjoyed Xi Quan was when he found out that the two children were Ye Qing's. He had been in despair and was prepared to grow old alone.

Suddenly, things took a turn for the better, and Xi Quan knew he had to seize the opportunity. So he secretly contacted the two children every day behind Xu Xiaoyue's back, and finally built a deep bond with them.

Now that he finally had another chance to show off in front of the three of them, Xi Quan quickly walked up behind Ye Qing and said to Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin, "Let's go, I'll take you out to eat."

It's dinnertime, so it's definitely time to eat.

But the two children shook their heads like rattles, still clinging tightly to Ye Qing's legs, looking up at her and saying, "Mom, cook."

Ye Qing would naturally not refuse the child's reasonable request. However, since this was Xi Quan's place, and she didn't know if there were any dishes, Ye Qing subconsciously looked towards the kitchen when she heard the child's words.

Xi Quan immediately understood what Ye Qing meant. He said, "The kitchen has everything, but since we don't usually cook, we need to go grocery shopping."

Although Xi Quan said that, Ye Qing still went to Xi Quan's kitchen to take a look. The kitchen was decorated nicely, but it was clear that it had never been used for cooking. There were a lot of things to buy. After checking the time, Ye Qing felt that it would be too late to buy and tidy up, and the two children would not be able to wait that long if they were hungry.

Another point is that Ye Qing didn't consider this place her home; it was just a temporary place for her and the children to stay. Since it wasn't her own home, Ye Qing didn't intend to make a big fuss about cooking in someone else's kitchen.

After looking around, Ye Qing said, "There's nothing in the kitchen. It's too late today, and you're all hungry. There's no time to go out and buy groceries and cook. How about we eat out?"

The child didn't say it was bad, but it was clear that he still wanted to eat Ye Qing's cooking.

After all, children are still young, and sometimes they are more insistent on certain things, unlike adults who are more flexible.

Ye Qing sighed softly and said, "Once we get back to our own home, Mom will try her best to cook for you every day."

The child might not understand the deeper meaning behind Ye Qing's words, but Xi Quan did, and once he understood, he couldn't remain indifferent.

Ye Qing didn't consider this place her home, so she didn't want to cause too much trouble. So, Xi Quan said, "Why do you have to say that to the child? She just wants to eat your cooking. I'm going out to buy groceries now. Can you write down a list of what to buy?"

Upon hearing Xi Quan's words, the two children began chattering about what they wanted to eat.

Seeing how happy the child was, Ye Qing felt that if she refused again at this moment, it would be too much of a downer for the child.

With a helpless sigh, Ye Qing went to the kitchen again and looked around. He opened the cabinets and saw that there was no oil, salt, soy sauce, or vinegar.

After leaving the kitchen, Ye Qing took the paper and pen handed to her by Xi Quan and wrote down what she needed to buy.

Xi Quan took the list written by Ye Qing and went out to buy it.

Because they brought their child here, Xi Quan had prepared a lot of snacks for the child at the villa beforehand, and Ye Qing found some for the child to have a snack first.

The stove hadn't been turned on, and the pots, pans, and dishes were all dirty. The child was eating and playing in the living room while Ye Qing went to wash them.

She had just finished her work and came out when the villa door opened. Ye Qing thought it was Xi Quan returning, so she went over to see what he hadn't bought. But it wasn't Xi Quan; it was Su Zhe.

Not only was Ye Qing surprised to see Su Zhe, but Su Zhe was also somewhat surprised to see Ye Qing there.
