Chapter 357 Concern Leads to Chaos

The moment Ye Qing received Su Mei's call, she realized something she had temporarily forgotten. Similarly, when they first received the call, they only exchanged polite greetings and didn't get to the point. However, from Su Mei's cheerful tone, Ye Qing guessed something.

That means she and her uncle Xu Daye shouldn't be related by blood, otherwise Su Mei's tone wouldn't have been so light.

Because all Su Mei could think about was how to make Quan Zhen suffer.

If she had a relationship with Xu Daye, it would prove that her previous guess was wrong. If it was wrong, there wouldn't be enough evidence to bring Quan Zhen down, and Quan Zhen wouldn't easily admit what she had done.

So after exchanging pleasantries with Su Mei, Ye Qing took the initiative to ask, "Have the test results come out yet? Xu Daye and I are not related, right?"

Su Mei was silent for a moment on the other end of the phone, then nodded: "Yes, no, Ye Qing, I..."

To be honest, Su Mei was happy with this result, as it meant she could finally get Quan Zhen to talk.

However, for Ye Qing, it was a cruel outcome.

This shows that the relatives Ye Qing had always thought were relatives were not relatives at all. If they were just not relatives, that would be fine, but those relatives were not good to her!

People who aren't her relatives treat her very badly, which seems to make sense. However, this seemingly tongue-twisting sentence contains a lot of helplessness and bitterness.

Having endured such hardship, who are your true relatives, and where are they?!

Hearing Su Mei's apologetic tone, Ye Qing bit her lip: "You don't need to apologize. If I were you, I would probably choose the same way to deal with this. Although knowing the truth is cruel to me, I've been through a lot, and it seems like nothing could be worse than this."

The more Ye Qing said this, the more embarrassed Su Mei felt. But since things had already come to this, saying more apologies would be pointless, and it would only seem a bit pretentious.

So Su Mei didn't say anything.

After a long silence, Su Mei asked, "Liang Youjie's case is about to go to trial. Do you want to come and listen? Maybe Quan Zhen will reveal your background then."

"I'll see how it goes," Ye Qing said, not giving a definite answer.

Ye Qing was torn, wondering whether or not she should know the truth!

Although Ye Qing only gave Su Mei an ambiguous answer, Su Mei did not press for details.

After hanging up the phone, Ye Qing stared blankly out the window, lost in thought.

When Ye Qing got home that evening, Xi Quan hadn't returned yet. Seeing Ye Qing looking preoccupied, Aunt Zhang couldn't help but ask with concern, "Ye Qing, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing." Ye Qing shook his head.

Aunt Zhang thought that she had been working at Ye Qing and Xi Quan's house for quite some time, but it seemed that she had never met Xi Quan's family!

Although she knew that Xi Quan's father had passed away, Zhang Sao was originally from Xiaoyao Village and knew about Xi Quan's mother. Although Xi Quan's mother had returned to the city after Zhang Sao married into Xiaoyao Village, Zhang Sao still heard some things about Xi Quan's mother when she was in Xiaoyao Village.

So, does Aunt Zhang think that Xi Quan's mother doesn't like Ye Qing? In other words, does that mean Ye Qing and her mother-in-law don't get along?

Although Ye Qing and Xi Quan seem to be getting along well now, and even if she doesn't have a good relationship with her mother-in-law, it doesn't seem to matter, Aunt Zhang still thought for a moment and asked Ye Qing, "Ye Qing, do you not have a good relationship with your mother-in-law?"

Aunt Zhang thought Ye Qing seemed to be in a bad mood because of her relationship with her mother-in-law.

In her opinion, Ye Qing and Xi Quan were doing very well, and apart from their mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship, there seemed to be nothing that made her feel bad.

Hearing Zhang Sao's words, Ye Qing was quite surprised. She didn't know why Zhang Sao had brought up the topic of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships: "What?"

Seeing that Ye Qing didn't seem to understand, Aunt Zhang said, "Although my relationship with my mother-in-law wasn't good before, that was in the countryside, and I didn't have children, so some things... But you... you and Xi Quan are such good friends, and you're not short of money, so try your best to get along well with your mother-in-law..."

This idea was a bit outdated. Ye Qing didn't know how to tell Zhang Sao. Although Zhang Sao had really helped Ye Qing a lot when they were in Xiaoyao Village, it was still a bit abrupt for someone with no family relationship to suddenly tell you to get along well with your mother-in-law.

Aunt Zhang knew it wasn't appropriate for her to say that, but she was worried about Ye Qing and didn't know what was wrong with him, so she got a little confused because of her concern.

Seeing Ye Qing's puzzled look, Aunt Zhang also felt embarrassed.

But just then, the doorbell rang.

This also conveniently saved Zhang Sao from her predicament. Zhang Sao quickly went to open the door, and when she saw who was outside, she was completely stunned.

After waiting for a while without hearing any sound, Ye Qing asked, "Who is it?"

Quan Zhen, standing at the door, heard Ye Qing's voice and coldly replied, "Ye Qing, now even your nanny is blocking the door, is that it?"

As he spoke, he pushed his wheelchair past Aunt Zhang and went into the house.

Hearing the sound, Ye Qing turned her head, looked at Quan Zhen, and then glanced at Zhang Sao, who was standing at the door looking a little lost: "Zhang Sao, why don't you take the two children upstairs first?"

"Ah, oh," Aunt Zhang replied absentmindedly, but she still stood at the door without moving.

Ye Qing frowned and called her again, "Aunt Zhang..."

Hearing Ye Qing's voice, Aunt Zhang snapped out of her daze, quickly composed herself, and looked at Ye Qing: "What?"

Seeing Zhang Sao's absent-minded look, Ye Qing frowned again, especially when Zhang Sao passed by Quan Zhen, her eyes darting away.

Ye Qing frowned and said, "Why don't you take the two children upstairs to play first?"

"Oh, okay." This time, Aunt Zhang heard this and took one child by each hand as she went upstairs.

Quan Zhen glanced at Zhang Sao's retreating figure and said to Ye Qing, "Hehe, the nanny you found seems to have never seen the world before. What's wrong? Has she never seen a cripple before?"

Quan Zhen said this intentionally to Zhang Sao. In Quan Zhen's view, Zhang Sao's abnormal behavior was because she saw him sitting in a wheelchair.

Of course, Quan Zhen had no idea what Zhang Sao would do if she wasn't acting strangely, but she could still tell from Zhang Sao's surprised expression when she saw her sitting in the wheelchair while Zhang Sao was watching the door for her.

Ye Qing was wondering why Aunt Zhang suddenly seemed a little absent-minded, but now, hearing Quan Zhen's sarcastic words, she seemed to understand why Aunt Zhang was acting this way. Perhaps she felt that seeing Quan Zhen was lame was the reason.

However, Ye Qing did not respond to Quan Zhen's words. She asked, "You came all this way, you can't just be here to find fault with our housekeeper, can you?"

It means to get to the point quickly if you have something to say.
