Ye Qing kept staring at the two children.
The two children kept their heads down, too ashamed to look at Ye Qing.
Xu Xiaoyue and Huang Fei had initially intended to speak up for the children, but seeing their reaction, they realized something and joined Ye Qing in asking, "Where did this come from?"
"They said they knew Mom and Dad and gave it to us," Ye Yiran said softly.
The three adults gasped upon hearing this; it was a common opening line used by people to deceive children.
Ye Qing, in particular, was extremely nervous.
Xu Xiaoyue and Huang Fei saw that Ye Qing was trembling with nervousness, so they quickly held her hands to comfort her.
Huang Fei asked the two children softly, "Where did you get it? Or where did you meet someone who knew your mother?"
"In the kindergarten."
Ye Qing was already nervous, and hearing the child say that made her heart leap into her throat. Her voice involuntarily rose several decibels: "At kindergarten? With the kindergarten teacher?"
"No, it's the childcare teacher." Ye Yixin was terrified when she saw her mother Ye Qing's stern expression, because she rarely saw her mother so nervous.
Ye Qing realized that her attitude might have frightened the two children, so she calmed herself down and looked at them kindly: "Your parents have told you before that you can't accept things from strangers."
"But aren't childcare workers teachers at school?"
Ye Qing was stumped by the child's question. It seemed to make sense, but for some reason, Ye Qing felt uneasy. Although the child's question was not wrong, Ye Qing was an adult and would not be stumped by such a small question.
After calming herself down, Ye Qing asked, "So, besides giving you two tangerine peel pills, did your teacher give any to the other children?"
Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin exchanged a glance, then shook their heads: "No."
Ye Qing initially thought that perhaps he was overthinking things and making a fuss over nothing.
Perhaps it's just as Huang Fei and Xu Xiaoyue said, how much can two bottles of tangerine peel cost? Maybe the teacher just gave them to the child because they were cute.
But after hearing what the two children said, Ye Qing realized she couldn't keep comforting herself like that.
Their own children may indeed be adorable, but if it's only their children who have these qualities, aren't teachers afraid that other children will see it and feel it's unfair?
You see, even though kindergarten children don't understand what fairness means, they still care a lot about the teacher's so-called rewards. If she gets a "smart sticker" as a reward and I don't, then things could get serious. The least of the problems is that the child who doesn't get the sticker cries.
So looking at the tangerine peel pills in his hand, Ye Qing couldn't tell himself that it wasn't a big deal.
However, it wasn't appropriate to say too much in front of the child. After calming herself down, Ye Qing gently comforted the child and then put the matter behind her in front of the child.
Children don't really understand the worries adults have. Seeing that their mother is no longer angry, they also lose their previous low spirits and become full of energy again.
After dinner, Huang Fei drove again, first dropping Xu Xiaoyue off at home before taking Ye Qing home.
Upon arrival, Huang Fei followed Ye Qing inside and sat for a while.

Although they were chatting casually, Huang Fei could tell from Ye Qing's tense demeanor that she was still worried about the two children. Huang Fei said, "Maybe it's nothing serious, you're just overthinking it."
Ye Qing wanted to say that since you don't have children, you might not understand her thoughts, but she swallowed the words back down.
After a moment of silence, Ye Qing said, "I'll go to the kindergarten tomorrow to see who the teacher the two children are talking about is. If it's just that I'm overthinking things or worrying unnecessarily, that would be for the best. I'm just afraid..."
She was afraid that Ye Qing hadn't said what came next, and that she might have jinxed herself.
Although Huang Fei felt that Ye Qing might be worrying unnecessarily, considering that it concerned the child, Huang Fei didn't say much. "Then I'll go with you tomorrow?"
"No need, I'll go by myself first and see what's going on. If it's nothing serious, it would be too much of a show for you to go. After all, you're an actress, and everyone knows you. It wouldn't be good if things escalated. Maybe it's nothing serious." Ye Qing didn't let Huang Fei come with her.
Hearing Ye Qing's explanation, Huang Fei thought it made sense and didn't insist.
After chatting with Ye Qing about other things, Huang Fei left after watching Zhang Sao go downstairs.

So after Zhang Sao finished her work, Huang Fei left, and Ye Qing went upstairs to rest.
I had just finished getting ready when the phone in my bedroom rang. I answered it, but no one spoke.
After saying "hello" a few times, Ye Qing was about to hang up when she suddenly remembered something and asked, "Is this Xi Quan?"
Xi Quan flicked his cigarette ash off the other end of the phone and asked Ye Qing in a hoarse voice, "How are you? Are the children alright?"
"I'm fine, and the children are fine too..." At this point, Ye Qing suddenly thought of what happened today. The words were on the tip of her tongue, but she hesitated and didn't say them to Xi Quan: "I know you've been very busy these past few days, but you should take some rest."

Although Xi Quan didn't explicitly tell Ye Qing not to overthink things, Ye Qing understood what he meant. Ye Qing nodded, but then, remembering that she was on the phone with Xi Quan and he couldn't see her, she repeated, "I know, and you don't need to worry about me."
Ye Qing initially took her child to school herself, but later, because she frequently went to the hospital, the task of taking the child to school every morning was taken over by Xi Quan or Zhang Sao.
Because she remembered what the children had said the day before, Ye Qing got up early the next day to take the two children to school.
