Chapter 646 Conflicting Feelings

Ye Qing could understand Xi Quan's thoughts, and even if Xi Quan hadn't said that, Ye Qing felt that Xi Quan's grandfather didn't need to accommodate anyone.

Although Xi Quan's grandfather had some dissatisfaction with Ye Qing and had made things difficult for her, overall it was a good relationship.

Moreover, Xi Quan's grandfather is so old, Ye Qing couldn't possibly argue too much with an elder.

If you really think about it, Grandpa Xi Quan is also an elder in front of Aunt Zhang, so it's perfectly reasonable for Xi Quan not to want his grandfather to accommodate Aunt Zhang.

But what to do during the Chinese New Year is something that definitely needs to be thought about carefully.

Ye Qing asked, "How did you spend your time before? At your grandparents' house and your maternal grandfather's house, how did you allocate your time?"

Xi Quan glanced at Ye Qing, pulled her closer to him, and said in a very calm tone, "During the time you were abroad, I was doing rehabilitation in the hospital for the first two years, so I didn't think about the New Year. After I recovered, all I could think about was how to get revenge. Of course, I wouldn't go to my maternal grandfather's house, but I would only show up at my paternal grandparents' house on New Year's Eve. Because in my heart, no place is my home."

After a long silence, Xi Quan tilted his head and kissed Ye Qing's forehead. "Thank you for giving me a home. Thank you for going through so much hardship back then, giving birth to Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin, and raising them so well."

These are the truth, but more often than not, the truth is actually quite emotional.

If someone else had said this, Ye Qing would never have denied it; Ye Qing felt he deserved such praise.

Although she was already married when she had children, Ye Qing was still able to give birth to twins after her husband disappeared without a trace and she lost all contact with him. This is truly an admirable thing.

However, now that these words had come from Xi Quan's mouth, Ye Qing felt a little embarrassed for some reason.

She was a little embarrassed, so her opening remark was somewhat perfunctory: "Why are you saying all this?"

"That's true." Xi Quan looked at Ye Qing's embarrassed expression, and his heart was truly full. His wife was not a proud person. If it were someone else, they would definitely keep talking about those difficult times.

However, Ye Qing almost never mentioned the hardships she had faced back then, which made Xi Quan feel even more distressed and heartbroken for Ye Qing.

Looking up at Xi Quan, Ye Qing saw that his eyes were full of concern for her, and he seemed to have a lot to say. Afraid that she would feel even more embarrassed, Ye Qing quickly said before Xi Quan could speak, "Then for the New Year, we won't go anywhere. We'll stay home on New Year's Eve with the three children."

Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin grew up abroad, so they don't really understand the concept of Chinese New Year. We're starting to cultivate that understanding in them. We both have very few relatives, and even fewer people to visit during the New Year. So, we'll visit their grandparents' and maternal grandparents' homes separately on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year, taking the children to pay our respects and teach them what it means to offer New Year's greetings.

What seemed like a tricky situation before became much simpler after Ye Qing explained it in just a few words, and it seemed like the problem was solved.

Xi Quan naturally wouldn't refute Ye Qing, and what Ye Qing said also made sense.

After the arrangements for the New Year were settled, the next day after Xi Quan went to the company, Ye Qing told Zhang Sao that since they would be spending the New Year at home, they needed to start preparing for the holiday.

Although Huang Fei might not be able to join the family reunion dinner on New Year's Eve, Ye Qing and Xi Quan are both at home, along with their three children. This already makes Zhang Sao very happy, so she naturally doesn't object and is even a little surprised.

You see, after Ye Qing told her so much about Huang Fei yesterday, Aunt Zhang was very uneasy, afraid that Ye Qing would treat her coldly again.

Surprisingly, she seemed fine the next day, but Aunt Zhang couldn't close her mouth.

Ye Qing noticed Zhang Sao's expression, but he didn't want to explain anything.

As I said before, she had long since accepted in her heart that Aunt Zhang was her biological mother.

But it was only after accepting this fact and no longer rejecting it that Ye Qing's attitude towards Zhang Sao became more like that of a daughter towards her mother.

Mothers and daughters usually argue, but they don't hold grudges overnight; once the argument is over, things go back to normal.

This is what people often talk about: the difference between a mother-in-law and a mother. When discussing these differences, people often ask a rhetorical question: If you argue with your own mother, the argument is over and done with, but if you argue with your mother-in-law, can you act as if nothing happened?

Thinking of this, Ye Qing chuckled softly, but then suddenly stopped, feeling a sense of disbelief that she herself didn't even realize.

She had always told herself that accepting Aunt Zhang did not mean forgiving her, but Ye Qing suddenly realized that what she had been thinking just now was actually a form of forgiveness towards Aunt Zhang!

Ye Qing wasn't quite sure when he had forgiven her.

So when Ye Qing saw that Aunt Zhang's face was still full of smiles, he quickly looked away and stopped looking at her.

But all I could hear was Aunt Zhang rambling on about what we needed to prepare for the New Year, how much meat, vegetables, and fruits we needed to buy...

Ye Qing wasn't annoyed, but she was a little unsure how to proceed.

Because if she continued talking, the two of them seemed too warm and friendly, as if all the barriers between them had instantly disappeared! This made Ye Qing feel conflicted. She felt that she had only accepted Aunt Zhang, but it seemed that she had not forgiven her.

So, with these conflicting feelings, Ye Qing silently echoed Zhang Sao's words a couple of times.

Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin were listening nearby, but as they listened, they seemed to become interested in participating: "We eat candy during the New Year, so does that mean Mom can't stop us from eating candy?"

Aunt Zhang smiled and said, "When..."

She wanted to say "of course," but the words caught in her throat, and she quickly swallowed them back, glancing cautiously at Ye Qing.

Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin were also shrewd. Seeing Zhang Sao's eyes, they knew that whether they could eat candy without restraint had nothing to do with whether it was the New Year or not, and they still had to listen to their mother.

Although it has always been like this, the two children, being quite clever, thought about the New Year customs that Aunt Zhang had mentioned earlier and decided to take this opportunity to try and get some benefits.

So, before she could hear Ye Qing's reply but noticed Zhang Sao's gaze, Ye Yixin spoke first: "Never mind, I'll ask Dad when he gets back. He'll definitely agree."

Ye Qing hadn't planned to say anything, but unexpectedly Ye Yixin mentioned Xi Quan. Thinking of Xi Quan's unconditional love for his daughter, Ye Qing felt he had to say something: "You said yesterday that your father is a liar."

“Dad won’t mind,” Ye Yixin said, sticking out her neck.

Ye Qing sneered and remained silent, looking at her overly naive daughter, genuinely not wanting to discourage her.

However, Ye Yixin was provoked by her own mother's expression and insisted on getting a definite answer right now, so she ran to the phone and called Xi Quan.
