Chapter 5 Puppy Nose

"Okay... Mommy will eat, Mommy will eat, and you guys will eat too." Tears flashed in the corners of her eyes. She reached out and touched the two children's faces, and a smile appeared at the corners of her pale mouth.

"You are all mother's good children!"

Princess Jin wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief and took the water bag filled with fresh milk.

Just now, she drank the milk without even tasting it. But now, before it even reached her mouth, she could smell a rich milky aroma, and a sweet, thick and delicate taste in her mouth.

There were several milk-producing sheep and a cow in the palace. The prince had them brought back to the palace specifically for the three of them, mother and son, to drink.

She had never cared about these things in the past, but now that food was scarce, being able to have a sip of water was a blessing.

Zhao Yong stared at the water bag in Princess Jin's hand, lowered his head slightly, and swallowed.

How could these actions escape the eyes of Princess Jin? She asked her eldest son to bring a bowl and pour some wine in it.

"Mom, I'm not hungry, let me drink..." Zhao Chengqian pushed.

Princess Jin looked at Zhao Yong. Zhao Yong stared at the bowl of milk and shook his head, "The child is not hungry either..."

"Bang!"

There was a noise from the corner of the carriage.

The mother and her two children looked over and saw the vase shake twice, and small white buns came out, with a mouth-watering fragrance floating in the air.

"Wow! It's a steamed bun."

"It must be the little god who knows what we are talking about and has brought us food again." Zhao Yong ran over excitedly after smelling the aroma, supporting himself with his hands and putting his little nose close to the steamed buns to smell it.

He sniffed like a puppy, his eyes shining.

Zhao Yong grabbed one and stuffed it into his mouth. His teeth bit through the dough, and the soup spread out. The aroma of meat instantly filled his entire mouth. "It's filled with meat!"

The one he ate was mushroom and pork flavor, it was so delicious!

“It’s so delicious.”

It was a fragrance he had never tasted before.

"Hehe, of course. Come and eat. I will bring you some delicious food." Ruanruan held the vase and smiled foolishly.

This is her favorite breakfast.

"Thank you, little fairy!" Zhao Yong said, clasping his hands.

“The little fairy is so nice!”

"Little God, my mother has recovered a lot after taking the medicine you gave her. She has woken up now."

Supported by Zhao Chengqian, Princess Jin knelt before the vase and said, "Thank you, little immortal, for saving me. I am deeply grateful."

At this moment, Princess Jin completely believed it.

"I don't know what the little immortal's name is. Once we reach Qingzhou, we will definitely offer him proper worship."

Ruanruan was confused and didn't quite understand what Princess Jin meant. "Ah? I... I don't know."

"You're welcome. Ruanruan herself wants to help you."

Ruanruan heard her grandfather calling her and rubbed her head. "Let's not talk about it for now. I have something to do."

Her voice was soft and milky, and Princess Jin imagined a cute little fairy child who looked like a New Year's picture doll, and she felt a little more respect for him.

"Okay, little fairy, you go ahead and get busy."

Princess Jin once again warned the two children not to tell anyone about this matter, as it would surely bring disaster if other people knew about it.

"Mom, can we eat now?" Zhao Yong couldn't wait any longer. The steamed bun he had just eaten was so delicious that he felt he could eat another hundred.

"Yeah, eat it."

“Hey, that’s great!”

Zhao Chengqian brought the vase over, took out two handkerchiefs from his sleeves and packed a few steamed buns in them, then took out a few cakes from the food box, wrapped them in handkerchiefs, and lifted the curtain of the car.

The cold wind was howling outside, and snowflakes were blowing in the face. In the front of the carriage were two people, one old and one young, each wearing a straw raincoat and a straw hat.

Doctor Song curled up his body, put his hands into his sleeves, and took out a water bag from his clothes around his waist. With his dry and red hands, he unscrewed the lid and took a sip with his head tilted back.

He narrowed his eyes and took a deep breath, "Why do I smell meat?"

"Ying Qi, do you smell it?" He pushed the young man next to him, who was standing like a wooden man with his eyes staring straight ahead, with some doubt.

Ying Qi ignored him. There was frost on her eyelashes and her face was pale. She waved the reins at the horse's back.

"Could it be that I'm hallucinating because of hunger?" Doctor Song touched his stomach and pursed his cracked lips.

He took out a handkerchief folded into several layers from his sleeve and unfolded it layer by layer. Inside was a small cake with only half of it left.

Doctor Song gently pinched a few crumbs, tilted his head back and put them into his mouth, chewing the few remaining sweet bits. "Fortunately, I was smart and saved a little from the food the princess gave me last night."

They had not eaten for several days and could only rely on water to fill their stomachs. They were just about to kill and eat their last horse, which was almost emaciated.

"I don't know where the princess got the food."

"Don't ask about the master's affairs." Ying Qi paused pulling the rope, turned his head to look at him with murderous intent in his eyes, and said in a cold voice.

"Tsk, tsk, shut up. Hi, I almost forgot, you are a secret guard of the palace, and you are loyal to the prince until death."

Doctor Song ate some cake crumbs, then wrapped the handkerchief in layers and stuffed it into his sleeve.

"I don't know if we can survive to reach Qingzhou." Doctor Song sighed, deeply worried about his future.

The food the princess ate should be the last bit of food left.

"Gurgle, gurgle..." Doctor Song touched his stomach and drank another sip of warm water.

"Cough!" A sound came from behind the two of them.

When the two heard this, their backs tightened and they immediately adjusted their sitting posture and turned their heads to look over.

They said in unison: "Your Highness."

Doctor Song looked up at Zhao Chengqian. The half-grown child was not even as tall as his arm, but his imposing and majestic aura forced him to bow his head, and he couldn't help but feel fear in his heart.

"Take one for each of you." Zhao Chengqian took out a handkerchief wrapped in food and handed it to the two of them.

Doctor Song looked up and stared at what was in Zhao Chengqian's hand, swallowed, reached out and took it respectfully, slowly opened the handkerchief, and was stunned to see five steamed buns and three cakes inside.

"Thank you, Your Highness!" His eyes were slightly red and his throat was tight. These foods were comparable to real gold nowadays.

Doctor Song couldn't wait to stuff a steamed bun into his mouth. The bun had just come out of the pot and was warm. He ate one bite at a time, and the aroma of meat filled the air. He ate it very quickly and swallowed it before chewing it. He could only purse his lips to savor the taste.

"Your Highness, I'm not hungry." Ying Qi clasped his fists and looked at those who were eating with a deep expression. His pale and cracked lips trembled.

"If you don't want to eat it, give it all to me!" Doctor Song looked at Yingqi's food, his eyes shining, and reached out to grab it.

Ying Qi suddenly grabbed his collar and dragged him backwards, almost throwing him off the carriage.

Doctor Song supported Che Yan and glanced at Ying Qi with resentment on his face. "If you don't want to give it to me, then don't give it to me. Why are you so anxious?"

If he were to say, these Yingqis were just too honest. They were almost starving to death, but they still left food for their masters.
