When he saw his eldest grandson Jiang Lun step into the house, with his graceful and elegant figure, the old man's face immediately lit up with joy and he stroked his long beard proudly.
"Lun'er, pay your respects to your grandfather." Jiang Lun bowed deeply, showing his utmost respect.
"Okay, get up quickly. There's no need for all this red tape between us, grandfather and grandson." Qiao Sanhe waved his hand kindly.
After a brief greeting, the two got down to business.
Qiao Sanhe winked at Qiao Heyuan who was standing beside him, "He girl, go to the back hall and help me put away the mint leaves that were dried in the sun."
Qiao Heyuan understood, nodded in agreement, then turned briskly and walked towards the backyard.
Only the grandfather and grandson were left in the study, and the atmosphere suddenly became solemn. Jiang Lun got to the point: "Grandfather, have you found any clues?"
Qiao Sanhe pulled a piece of paper from a book on the desk and handed it to his grandson. "I copied this. On the surface, there's nothing unusual."
Jiang Lun took it and took a quick glance at it. The content was roughly consistent with what he knew. He couldn't help but sigh in disappointment and carefully folded the paper and put it into his sleeve.
However, Qiao Sanhe gave a sly smile, revealing a deeper meaning. "Although the records in this file are impeccable, when I was flipping through it, I found that the page recording Liu's autopsy had different paper and binding than the other pages."
Jiang Lun looked up suddenly when he heard this, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, "What do you mean?"
"That's right," Qiao Sanhe nodded affirmatively, "The spool of the file has been rebound. It's a pity that I can't bring it out for you to take a closer look."
"This clue is enough for me. Thank you, Grandpa, for your help." Jiang Lun's gratitude was beyond words.
Qiao Sanhe picked up the teacup and took a sip, but couldn't help but sigh, "Back then, I left Beijing to investigate an unsolved case in Fenyang. I never imagined such a mistake would occur."
His words revealed deep regret, "It's a pity that Miss Liu's body is no longer there. Otherwise, I would have used all my life's knowledge to seek justice for her."
Jiang Lun's heart tightened when he heard this. He gripped the armrests of his chair tightly. After a long moment of contemplation, he finally asked, "If Miss Liu's body were still there, would you be willing to clear her name?"
Qiao Sanhe put down his teacup and looked at Jiang Lun firmly, "Of course!"
The study fell into silence again, with only the conversation between the grandfather and grandson interweaving in the air.
