Chapter 163 These days are just too good!

The system upgrade took quite a while. Shiyue waited for more than an hour but still couldn't feel the presence of the cabin again, so she had no choice but to go to sleep.

Shiyue woke up early the next morning and tried to sense the place again, but found that she still couldn't get into the cabin.

Seeing her sitting on the bed looking dejected, He Lixuan forced his eyes open and asked, "Aren't you done yet?"

"No, it's pitch black, I can't feel anything," Shiyue said.

He Lixuan reached out and pulled her down, then pressed his whole body against hers.

He wrapped his arms around Shiyue's waist, then buried his face in her neck and mumbled, "If you can't get in, just go to sleep. There's nothing to rush. Maybe it'll work again when you wake up."

Holding her husband, Shiyue gradually calmed down.

She realized that she cared too much about the little house and placed too much importance on it.

If it's really gone, or if we can never get in again, what can we do?

Can't family members live the same way?

After figuring this out, she simply closed her eyes again next to her husband.

Shiyue slept very soundly, and when she woke up, no one was beside her.

She got up, washed up, and then went to her in-laws' house.

As soon as I entered the door, I saw my sister-in-law, Liang Yueming, kneading dough.

Shiyue quickly went over.

"Sister-in-law, let me help." She said, and started rolling up her sleeves.

Cooking for nine people in one meal is definitely a physically demanding task.

Not to mention steaming buns or making pancakes.

Kneading dough alone can make your arms ache all day!

Seeing that she was about to reach out, Liang Yueming refused: "You should eat quickly and clean up the dishes after you finish. I need to use the table later."

Shiyue then noticed that there was still food laid out on the table, and a set of chopsticks and a bowl next to it, which was obviously prepared for her.

Shiyue knew this was because she had gotten up late, and everyone else had already eaten.

She suddenly felt embarrassed.

Seeing her like this, Liang Yueming laughed: "What's there to be shy about? Everyone has been young once, right? Your older brother and I used to have a very good relationship!"

As she spoke, she winked meaningfully at Shiyue.

Shiyue felt that she must have misunderstood something, but she had no evidence.

She simply sat down and buried herself in her food, ignoring her sister-in-law's teasing.

Shiyue finished her meal quickly.

Knowing that his sister-in-law was making dough to make steamed buns, he immediately started cleaning the bowl of clams next to him.

"This was brought over by Sister Cui this morning. She said she bought it at the small market. She said it tastes good in dumpling soup, dumplings, or steamed buns. I asked Dad, and he said he didn't want soup, he wanted steamed buns, so I thought I'd give it a try."

I've never made this before, and I don't know how to make it taste good.

"Add more oil, add more meat, it'll taste good no matter how you cook it," Shiyue said with a smile.

She washed the clam meat according to Liang Yueming's instructions, and then found a bunch of bok choy and two carrots among the vegetables she had bought from the garden the day before.

She thought for a moment and said, "Sister-in-law, I see that there are a lot of shepherd's purse growing in our two untidied yards. Why don't I go pick some shepherd's purse to wrap together? This amount of greens doesn't seem to be enough."

"Okay, go ahead. Jiajia's home, let her help you pull them out."

Shiyue, along with her little niece, picked all the shepherd's purse from the yards of several families.

While waiting for the dough to rise, the group picked and washed all the vegetables.

"Shiyue, you can prepare the filling. I think you're a great cook, so I bet you can make pretty good steamed buns too," Liang Yueming suggested.

“Okay.” Shiyue did not refuse.

When my father was still alive, he did teach Shiyue all his skills.

I'm definitely not quite there yet when it comes to opening a shop and running a business, but I'm perfectly capable of cooking some home-style dishes.

Moreover, she was more willing to use oil than Liang Yueming.

Because clam meat is a seafood product, it has a naturally delicious flavor. Therefore, Shiyue didn't use many seasonings, only oil and salt.

Chop the greens, carrots, and shepherd's purse, stir-fry them in oil, then pour them into a large bowl along with the chopped clam meat. Add a small amount of salt and mix well.

That way you can wrap it up.

Shiyue only found out today that, despite being only five years old, Jiajia can already make steamed buns, and she does it quite well!

The pleats on those little buns were pinched very evenly, it was clear that the maker had practiced a lot at home beforehand.

Many hands make light work.

The three of them worked together and soon all the buns were wrapped.

My small pot at home isn't enough; it can only steam nine buns at a time. If I keep steaming them like this, it'll take forever!

But this isn't my own home, and there's no big pot or earthen stove. I thought about borrowing one, but then I realized that Sister Cui's family only has four people, so they probably don't have any big pots.

Shiyue and Liang Yueming simply moved the two honeycomb briquette stoves and the pots that came with them from their house, lit them all, and steamed them together.

Instantly, the kitchen became unbearably hot, with waves of heat surging through the air!

Fortunately, with three stoves working at the same time, the buns steamed much faster!

Just as the bugle call for meal service sounded at the Sixth Iron Battalion, their steamed buns were ready.

Liang Yueming first took out a piece, broke it in half, and handed half to Shiyue and Jiajia, saying, "Try it first, how does it taste?"

Shiyue took it, but felt a little like laughing.

She felt that her sister-in-law probably treated her like a child, just like Jiajia, and would even share half of a steamed bun with her first.

This made her feel a little smug.
