Chapter 221 Sea Cucumber

"I'll do anything else you need to do. You should go out and get something to eat," He Lixuan said.

"Finish this one," Shiyue said, picking up a bunch of small green vegetables and standing up.

However, she didn't realize how close He Lixuan was to her at that moment, and when she stood up, her head bumped directly into He Lixuan's chin.

Both of them cried out "Ouch!" at the same time, and Shiyue lost her balance and fell directly into He Lixuan's arms.

"Oh dear, I didn't see anything!"

Before Shiyue could even stand up straight, she heard Cui Yun's voice behind her.

Then came several heavy footsteps, which faded into the distance.

Shiyue's face flushed red instantly.

She was so angry that she turned around and punched He Lixuan on the shoulder.

He Lixuan was still covering his chin with his hand at this moment.

His wife bumped into him just now, and the impact was really solid. His jaw is still sore and he can't even open his mouth.

After taking such a punch, he was both amused and exasperated, his eyes filled with helplessness.

Shi Yue pushed him toward the door, but He Lixuan simply put his hand down, grabbed Shi Yue's shoulder, pulled her into his arms, and hugged her tightly.

He even patted her on the back reassuringly.

It's like coaxing a child.

Shiyue rolled her eyes at him, clearly annoyed.

This amused He Lixuan so much that he pursed his lips, but finally couldn't help but chuckle out loud.

Seeing that the man had no intention of leaving, Shiyue simply handed him the vegetables and asked him to clean them up.

Then I started slicing the lemons, squeezing out the juice, and preparing the seasonings.

The two of them worked quickly; by the time the oysters were ready, the cold dish was also done.

He Lixuan went out and called his second brother over. Together they carried two tables out of the restaurant and placed them side by side in the yard.

Shi Yue, along with Cui Yun and Qian Feiyue, brought out the stir-fried dishes one by one from the kitchen.

There weren't many types of stir-fried dishes today, but the portions were definitely large and filling.

With so many grilled items as well, it was quite a feast.

The people in the courtyard had already eaten a lot of barbecue, and now that they saw so many more dishes being served, everyone waved to the young couple, inviting them to come and eat.

Professor Liang also instructed He Lixue to specially bring a stool for Shiyue, indicating that she should sit down and eat.

Shi Yue went over and sat down without any hesitation, and He Lixuan also sat down next to her.

After sitting down, He Lixuan didn't stand on ceremony at all. He took a small bowl and put some of each dish into it for his wife, quickly filling the bowl to the brim.

He wasn't satisfied with that, so he got up and went to the two stoves. Soon he came back with a large plate and a bunch of skewers.

Having just returned from the city, He Siyi naturally wanted to inquire about Shiyue, Shen Yuanbai, and Lü Wensheng's situation. Shiyue also wanted to convey the greetings from her two uncles to her in-laws.

So she talked to her father-in-law a few more times.

After she finished speaking, she looked down and almost burst out laughing in anger.

She realized that in the short time she hadn't been paying attention, there was a plate and a bowl in front of her.

The bowl was overflowing, practically bursting at the seams.

The plate was even more laden with food, from potato slices to pumpkin strips, to grilled oysters, grilled meat skewers, grilled eggplant, grilled chives... nothing was missing.

They seemed afraid that she would suffer a loss if she missed out on any of the foods.

Seeing her staring at the bowl, He Lixuan urged her, "Eat quickly, it won't taste good if it gets cold. Try it and see which one you like, then I'll go get you another one. It's just right for you to eat now, their skills have improved, what we ate earlier was all burnt."

He Lixuan wasn't speaking very loudly, but just then, the new dishes were served, and everyone stopped what they were doing and came over to eat.

As a result, his words reached everyone's ears without missing a single one.

With one "pfft" followed by another, laughter soon erupted from the open space!

Qi Feng's shoulders were shaking from laughing.

He laughed as he said, "Sister-in-law, hurry up and try them, see which ones you like, and we'll go and bake some for you right now. We have to make sure you eat well, otherwise our brother Lixuan will probably be cursing us in his heart."

His words caused everyone to burst into laughter again.

Shiyue's face flushed red again.

She was so angry that she kicked He Lixuan hard under the table.

He Lixuan seemed completely oblivious, sitting there without moving an inch.

He didn't seem to care about the laughter from the crowd, and simply said, "Shiyue has been on a boat for several hours today, she probably didn't have time to eat breakfast or lunch."

This statement startled everyone, then they suddenly realized what it meant—

you do not say!

Shiyue just returned from the city today.

Getting from Nanping to Haijing Island isn't just about taking a boat; you also have to drive for about two hours before that.

Add to that the time spent waiting for and changing buses, and if there's even the slightest mishap in between, you won't have time for breakfast or lunch!

But as soon as they got back, they didn't even have time to rest before starting to work again, just to treat everyone to a barbecue like this.

After figuring this out, no one laughed anymore; they all felt apologetic.

Now it wasn't just He Lixuan who was serving food; several people who got along well with Shiyue also started serving her food, making Shiyue feel like she would have to grow a Buddha's belly to be able to eat so much food.

Everyone enjoyed the meal.

Nearly twenty people ate about ten pounds of potatoes and pumpkin.

We ate all the other dishes and seafood completely.

This was even though most of them had already eaten dinner before they arrived.

They ate until everyone's bellies were round, and they had to walk with their chests out and heads held high, otherwise they were afraid that the contents of their stomachs would overflow.

Before we knew it, it was completely dark, and it was time to end the day.

Everyone helped Shiyue and the others clean up the things outside. Several men even shoveled out the firewood that hadn't burned completely from the fire pit and filled it back in with soil.

After everything was tidied up, everyone said their goodbyes.

Just as Qi Feng was about to leave with his wife and children, Shi Yue called out to him.

Shi Yue returned to her room and took out a small packet of dried sea cucumbers from her bag/space. She handed it to Qi Feng and said, "Brother Qi, I bought some sea cucumbers in Nanping this time. I heard that they are extremely nourishing, so I thought I'd cook a few for the experts every day to help them recover."

I've never made this before; I heard it needs to be soaked before you can make it.

Could you go to the camp and ask if anyone knows how to make this? Specifically, how do I soak the ingredients? If you can find someone, could they teach me?

Qi Feng opened the paper bag and was shocked to find that it contained at least forty or fifty sea cucumbers.

His brows immediately furrowed.
