Chapter 381: Building a Workshop

Chapter 381: Building a Workshop

"Yimin, when you bring the feed back, just call him over." Director Huang said while pointing at Lin Guohuai.

How can one not think about his nephew when he has made such a contribution?

"Okay." Zhou Yimin nodded.

This meal can be said to be quite satisfying, both physically and mentally.

After resting for a while, Director Huang took Lin Guohuai back to the commune.

In fact, Lin Guohuai did not want to leave. Instead, he wanted to stay here and finish dinner before leaving. However, under the majesty of Director Huang, he reluctantly followed him.

Such a good meal, if you miss it, you don’t know when you will have the next one.

On the way back, Director Huang reminded him again: "Xiao Lin, you must build a good relationship with Yi Min. It will definitely be helpful in the future."

That’s all I can say. Whether to do it or not depends on what he thinks.

"Don't worry! I'm not a fool. Even if we try to build a good relationship, I won't make it awkward." Lin Guohuai assured.

"Well, having grown up and done so many things, this is what makes me most satisfied." Director Huang sighed.

The old branch secretary asked: "Yimin, where do you think it's best to build the feed processing plant?"

He is kind of starting to like this feeling now. It's good not to have to use his brain, as someone will tell him how things should be done.

Zhou Yimin thought about it and gave an answer: "I think it should be built on the main road of the village, so that it will be convenient for transportation when the time comes!"

If it is built in a remote corner of the village, where cars cannot reach, it will have to be moved around by people. Isn't that a waste of time?

The old Party secretary agreed without hesitation: "Okay, let's choose a location next to the main road of the village."

Due to the urgency of time, for such a big event as building a house, it is necessary to choose a good day.

In this situation, we have to wait at least one or two months for a good day. We definitely can't delay that long, so we can only pick a good day.

The old secretary, on the other hand, went against the traditional almanac and immediately chose the day after tomorrow.

Due to the advance notice, all the villagers, apart from being busy with farm work, have to participate in the project of building the processing workshop.

We must ensure that the processing workshop is built in the shortest possible time and that the feed can be processed as soon as possible.

This task is the most important thing for Zhoujiazhuang, and all other matters have to take a back seat.

Look at these more than a hundred people, all gathered.

It doesn’t take long to build a house, but the preliminary preparations must be done well, and the first thing is to make earthen bricks.

In order to ensure clear division of labor, the personnel were divided into two teams.

The first team was led by Zhou Zhiming, who led nearly one hundred people to dig the soil. There were also requirements for selecting the soil. The first choice was to choose soil with high clay content and less impurities.

Sedimentary soil from rivers and ponds is the best choice, and impure soil containing a lot of sand, stones and tree roots should be avoided.

The second team, led by the team leader, built a cave. The current weather was not suitable for drying, so they could only fire the wood. Before firing, they had to build a cave first.

Moreover, the fired earthen bricks will be stronger and more durable, but it is still more troublesome.

However, these earthen bricks are used to build a feed processing workshop, so the materials must be of better quality. Otherwise, if problems arise, they will have to be rebuilt, which is not only troublesome but will also affect the progress of feed processing.

Soon Zhou Zhiming led the villagers to the vicinity of the greenhouse. The soil here was the most suitable, and it was not far from the cave, which saved transportation time.

Leading by example, Zhou Zhiming took a hoe and dug the soil non-stop with great effort.

When others saw this, they did not dare to be lazy and joined in one after another. It is true that there is strength in numbers.

Nearly a hundred people were digging in the river.

In order to speed up the progress, some people were responsible for digging the soil, some were responsible for transportation, and there was no need for human labor since there were donkey carts. Moreover, it was considered good if one person could carry 40 to 50 kilograms at a time, and if he could carry 60 to 70 kilograms, he would be considered a strongman.

But as for donkey carts, one cart can only transport several hundred or even a thousand kilograms, which is simply not on the same level.

After two or three hours of digging, the soil along the river had been almost completely dug away.

Donkey carts were also constantly transporting the excavated soil to the vicinity of the cave.

Seeing that the digging was almost complete, Zhou Zhiming led the villagers back to mix the mud. It was definitely unrealistic to dig enough soil in one day, and it was impossible to bake so many earthen bricks in one day.

After all, the cave house can only produce dozens of bricks at a time.

It would definitely not work without a few days of firing, so building a house is not an easy task.

If it is summer, it will be faster if you let it dry naturally.

As long as the time is right, just turn it over, and leave the rest to fate.

Freshly dug soil cannot be used directly. First, you need to use tools to repeatedly plow the soil, and add water so that the water and soil are fully mixed and evenly formed into a sticky mud ball.

Then put the mixed mud into the brick mold, fill it with soil, compact it, and then scrape off the excess soil with a scraper.

The next step is to demould. If demoulding is successful, you can get a piece of earthen brick.

The last step is to put the bricks into the cave for firing. Firing also requires technical skills and experience to control the temperature. If the fire is too big, cracks will appear in the fired bricks.

However, if the fire is too small, the bricks cannot be fully fired and will deform if pressed by heavy objects.

So it doesn’t matter if the fire is too big or too small, it has to be just right.

Zhou Yimin was not idle either. He rode his bicycle and rushed out of the village. He originally wanted to borrow a truck from the steel plant, but it seemed a bit troublesome, so he decided to use the old method!

After searching for a while, he placed a hundred bags of feed in a hidden corner not far from Zhoujiazhuang.

Then he rode slowly back to Zhoujiazhuang.

He found the old Party Secretary and said, "Old Party Secretary, the feed has been delivered."

After hearing what Zhou Yimin said, the old branch secretary immediately stood up excitedly: "Yimin, the feed is there, I will arrange for someone to transport it back now."

Suddenly I remembered that most of the villagers were busy, and the donkey carts were also used.

If it was to be used, it could only be pulled by an ox cart. There was no other way, the old branch secretary could only reluctantly let the old ox pull it.

He then called over a dozen people, loaded a bullock cart, and set off to the place Zhou Yimin had mentioned. Not far from the village, they saw a hundred bags of feed lying on the cold ground.

Everyone put the hundred bags of feed directly onto the ox cart. They definitely couldn't transport all of them in one go, so they had to do it in two batches.

In less than an hour, all the hundred bags of feed were transported back to Zhoujiazhuang.

The old Party Secretary found Zhou Zhiming and said, "Zhiming, go to the commune and tell Director Huang that the feed has arrived."
