Chapter 484 Try Your Luck
Zhou Yimin took Professor Li away from the experimental field and prepared to go to the market to see if he could find other scientific research notes.
As the two were about to leave, Professor Li said, "Comrade Zhou, why don't you just ride my bike?"
"Are we in a hurry?"
I just heard that it is still some distance from here, and it would take too much time to walk there.
After hearing this, Zhou Yimin shook his head and said, "Riding a bicycle is still too slow, let's ride my motorcycle!"
Professor Li was still thinking to himself: "Okay, my bicycle. What did you say motorcycle was?"
He suspected that there was something wrong with his ears as he actually heard a motorcycle.
You know, motorcycles are rare. Even Professor Li himself doesn't have one. He only has a bicycle.
Zhou Yimin repeated: "Yes, it is a motorcycle."
After saying that, he left without looking back.
Professor Li was left alone, disheveled in the wind.
Not long after, Professor Li heard the sound of a motorcycle engine.
He didn't expect that what Zhou Yimin said was actually true.
Soon Zhou Yimin parked the motorcycle next to Professor Li.
"Professor Li, get in the car."
Professor Li's eyes instantly widened, his face was filled with shock, his mouth slightly opened, and it took him a long time to speak: "Comrade Zhou, you...you actually have a motorcycle? This is so rare here!"
In that era of material scarcity, motorcycles were a rare item. Professor Li never imagined that Zhou Yimin would have such a "treasure".
Zhou Yimin did not reveal the origin of the motorcycle: "It was just luck."
After hearing this, Professor Li did not pursue the matter further. After all, it was the first time they met each other, and there was no need to ask about everything.
Then he stepped onto the motorcycle.
Professor Li sat in the back seat with a little nervousness, holding the armrests tightly with both hands.
As the motorcycle sped away, the breeze blew past, making Professor Li's hair a little messy, but his face was filled with an excited smile as he felt this new and exciting way of traveling.
On the way to the market, the motorcycle raised a cloud of dust, attracting the attention of villagers working on the roadside. Soon, they arrived at the bustling market.
As soon as it entered the market, the unique "thump thump" sound attracted everyone's attention.
Aunt Zhang, who was selling vegetables, almost let the weight slip off her hand. She opened her eyes wide, pointed at the motorcycle and said to the people around her: "Hey, look, what is that? A motorcycle! This is a rare thing, and it's hard to see in our small market!"
A group of children ran after the motorcycle, cheering and shouting, "Look, there comes the motorcycle! So cool!"
There was a gleam of curiosity and excitement in their eyes as their small figures shuttled through the crowd.
An old man put down the farm tools he was selecting and shook his head, exclaiming: "This young man is really capable. He even got a motorcycle. Our market hasn't been this lively for a long time!"
People at the market stopped what they were doing, gathered around, and surrounded Zhou Yimin and Professor Li along with their car.
Everyone was talking and asking about the origin of the motorcycle, and some people couldn't help but reach out to touch this rare object.
Amid the enthusiastic onlookers, Zhou Yimin and Professor Li took great effort to break out of the crowd, found a place to park the car, and began their journey to find scientific research notes in the market.
The two of them were still frightened when they thought back to what had just happened. They had never imagined that a motorcycle could be so "charming".
Zhou Yimin then broke the silence and asked curiously, "Professor Li, have you often come to this kind of market before?"
Professor Li shook his head. "I spend most of my time in laboratories and research institutes. This is my first time to visit a rural market like this. However, I think this place is full of life. Maybe I can find something unexpected here."
The market was bustling with people coming and going and various shouts.
Stalls selling vegetables, farm tools, and snacks are next to each other, and the stalls are filled with a wide variety of merchandise.
Zhou Yimin took Professor Li directly to the corner where he had originally found the scientific research notes.
This place is still filled with all kinds of old things, including tattered books, rusty farm tools, and some small gadgets whose purpose is unknown.
"It's here. This is where I found the notes last time." Zhou Yimin said, pointing to a stall piled with old books.
Professor Li squatted down and began to search carefully.
He picked up old books one by one, carefully checked the front and back covers, and even turned the pages to see if there was anything tucked inside.
Zhou Yimin was not to be outdone and also helped to search.
He wanted to see if he could still find it.
After searching for a while, it seemed that there was not much to find.
"Professor Li, do you think we can really find the scientific research notes again?" Zhou Yimin asked nervously as he searched.
"It's always a good idea to give it a try. Maybe good luck will come to you." Professor Li replied with a smile.
Just then, Zhou Yimin found an old book whose cover was so worn that the words could not be seen clearly.
He flipped it open and saw that the contents were disorganized, and seemed to be some casual notes of daily life.
He was about to put the book down in disappointment, when suddenly he found some strange symbols and numbers on the last few pages of the book.
"Professor Li, please take a look at this." Zhou Yimin quickly handed the book to Professor Li.
Professor Li took the book and looked at it carefully.
His brows furrowed, but his eyes revealed a hint of excitement: "These symbols and numbers don't look simple. Maybe they are some kind of encrypted records. However, it's not easy to crack them."
The two continued to search the stall, and more than an hour passed, but they didn't find anything valuable.
Zhou Yimin stood up, stretched his sore waist, and looked at the bustling market, feeling a little confused.
"Why don't we go and have a look at other stalls?" Zhou Yimin suggested.
Professor Li nodded and said, "Okay, maybe we can gain something from it somewhere else."
Zhou Yimin then held up the book he had just been looking for: "Comrade, how much is this book?"
When the stall owner saw what Zhou Yimin and Professor Li had just done, he knew that this book must contain what they wanted.
If that's the case, then just set the price a bit higher. I guess they'll just have to bear with it.
The stall owner then said: "Comrade, you really have a good eye. This book is..."
After hearing what the stall owner said, Zhou Yimin and Professor Li knew what the stall owner wanted to do.
Is it nothing more than wanting to know how valuable this book is, and then taking the opportunity to make a profit?
After enough preparation, the stall owner finally said the price: "Comrades, this book is two dollars?"
After saying that, he also has a look on his face that shows he will make you a lot of money.
In order not to be left behind, Zhou Yimin and Professor Li left without even looking back.
Now it was the stall owner's turn to be dumbfounded. He had not expected things to turn out this way.
