Chapter 56 Thunderclap

Liu Yuanchao hiccuped and suddenly collapsed onto Jiang Jianguo, crying, "Brother, I'm suffering! Hongying doesn't want to live a good life anymore. She wants a divorce! You don't know? She's hooked up with a guy from the countryside who's 34 or 35 and has never been married. I'm being cuckolded! I'm so upset! I don't dare tell anyone, because I'm afraid Mom won't be able to handle it."

Jiang Jianguo wasn't quite drunk yet. He grunted a couple of times and asked in confusion, "What did you say? Hongying wants a divorce? She cheated on you?"

"Yes, brother, how am I going to live like this? What will happen to my two children?" Liu Yuanchao cried as he finished speaking, and then fell asleep shortly afterward.

Jiang Jianguo, however, seemed to sober up suddenly, and exclaimed in fright, "Divorce, being a traitor, this, this!"

They were talking without any restraint at the door, and Jiang Ruyu inside the house heard it first. After the initial shock came anger, and then she worried that her grandmother would hear. When she turned around, her grandmother was already slumped in a chair, looking as if she had lost her parents.

"What a tragedy, what a tragedy! How could I have such a daughter? She's such a wicked creature!" Old Mrs. Jiang was furious. She sat up abruptly from her chair, took a step, and then fell straight backward.

"Grandma!" Jiang Ruyu exclaimed in surprise.

The people inside the house, as well as Jiang Jianguo who was sitting outside, were all called in. Liu Yuanchao was thrown to the ground by his brother-in-law.

"What's wrong? Huh?" Jiang Jianguo sobered up immediately and asked the old lady repeatedly.

"Grandma overheard what you and your uncle were saying at the door. Don't delay, get to the hospital right away."

Hearing Ruyu's shout, Zheng Yang rushed over. Seeing the mess in the room, he immediately tore down the door panel of the main room: "Ruyu, go get a quilt. Jiang Hui and Jiang Lin, you two lift Grandma onto the door panel. Big brother, let's carry Grandma to the hospital."

Not long after, Zheng Yang and Jiang Kai carried the old lady Jiang, who was wrapped in a quilt, to the hospital. Jiang Ruyu went back to get money and followed them. Jiang Jianguo told his son to carry his brother-in-law into the house and he followed as well.

What should have been a joyous occasion has turned into this, leaving everyone feeling terrible. Hu Jun had originally planned to leave once his son sobered up, but it seems he won't be able to leave anytime soon.

He was also worried about what would happen to his grandchildren if something were to happen to his in-laws. Ruyu was engaged but not yet married, and Jiang Hui and Jiang Lin had not yet graduated.

Upon arriving at the hospital, after a few questions from the doctor, the examination began. After paying the fees, an elderly doctor came out with a serious expression: "This elderly lady has been here before, hasn't she? I remember I told her family that she is old and has high blood pressure, and she shouldn't get emotionally agitated, as it could easily cause a stroke. Your family has been too careless. This elderly lady has already had a mild stroke. Let's admit her to the hospital first."

Jiang Ruyu immediately burst into tears: "Doctor, can my grandma get better? Is her condition serious?"

The old doctor sighed: "Let's give her IV drips for a few days and see how it goes. There will be mild aftereffects, but if she recovers well later, they won't be noticeable. We absolutely cannot upset her again. If it happens again, no one can save her."

The senior doctor went back inside to continue treatment, and a nurse brought him a form: "Go pay the fees first, and when he comes out, he can go directly to the ward."

Jiang Ruyu was about to pay the bill when Jiang Jianguo, his eyes bloodshot, took the bill from her and said, "You wait here for your grandma, I'll go pay the bill."

Jiang Ruyu felt bad seeing her uncle's condition: "Jiang Hui, you go with your uncle. He drank quite a bit at noon. Don't let anything else happen later."

Jiang Jun rushed over, panting, and asked, "How is Grandma? What did the doctor say?"

"Mild cerebral infarction, the situation is still unknown, she needs to be hospitalized." Jiang Ruyu stared at the door of the treatment room, feeling uneasy and especially afraid that something might happen to her grandmother.

"What exactly happened? What did Grandma hear that made her so angry?" Jiang Jun had also drunk some wine at noon and was planning to go home for a nap, but who knew this would happen.

Jiang Ruyu gritted her teeth and said hatefully, "It's all because of Jiang Hongying. She, humph, is simply unspeakable. Go ask your uncle." She was so angry that she couldn't even call her aunt.

If her grandmother weren't still in critical condition, she would have loved to beat Jiang Hongying up. What a troublemaker!

Jiang Jun looked at Jiang Ruyu disapprovingly: "Ruyu, no matter what, she is still your aunt. If you do this, Grandma will also feel bad."

Jiang Ruyu lowered her head and said in a low voice, "Second brother, you have no idea what happened. Last time was during the Spring Festival last year, she made Grandma so angry that she had to go to the hospital. This time it was because of her again, and it was such a shameful thing. Tell me, does she deserve to be called my aunt?"

Jiang Jun knew that his aunt had made a big fuss about his uncle's pension. Xiao Shen was already in poor health at the time, and his aunt's fussing had even caused him to be hospitalized. Ru Yu and her siblings were very impatient with their aunt because of this. Now that their grandmother was in the hospital, it was no wonder that Ru Yu was acting this way.

After waiting for a long time in the treatment room, Grandma Jiang was finally wheeled out. The group rushed forward, and Jiang Ruyu asked anxiously, "How is she? How is my grandma?"

"The situation has stabilized. Let's start with IV fluids and observe."

After entering the ward and settling her grandmother in, Jiang Ruyu realized that a few people were missing: "Something's not right. Eldest brother, second brother, why hasn't Uncle come back yet? Why didn't Jiang Hui come back to say what happened?"

Zheng Yang reminded him, "Uncle drank quite a bit, and Grandma is like this, what if he went to see Aunt?"

Jiang Ruyu and the others stared wide-eyed. Jiang Kai and Jiang Jun were very anxious: "Ruyu, let's go home and check on Grandma first. You stay here and look after Grandma."

"Alright, be careful, and try to persuade your uncle." Although Jiang Ruyu disliked her aunt, she didn't want her uncle to get into trouble because of such a person.

"Jiang Lin, I'll stay here and watch over Grandma. Grandpa and the others are still at home. Go back and check on them. Zheng Yang, you come with me too. Bring my blanket, water cup, toothbrush, thermos, and a basin. Don't forget the lunchbox either," Jiang Ruyu instructed the two.

"Okay, I'll be back soon. Be careful." Zheng Yang went home with Jiang Lin.

Where was Jiang Jianguo at this time? Ignoring Jiang Hui's objections and advice, he took a bus to his brother-in-law's house. He was in a bad mood and had been drinking. Jiang Hui couldn't stop him and could only follow him if his uncle did something impulsive.

When they arrived at Jiang Hongying's house, Liu Xuewen and Liu Xiangqiao were both home. They were sitting at the dining table with red and swollen eyes. In the inner room, Jiang Hongying was frantically banging on the door, yelling, "Liu Xuewen, you ingrate, open the door for me right now!"

When the two children saw Jiang Jianguo and Jiang Hui, they could no longer hold back their tears and burst into sobs: "Uncle, boohoo."

Liu Xiangqiao stood up and ran to her uncle's side, grabbing his clothes and crying with snot and tears streaming down her face. Liu Xuewen, being a boy, stubbornly pursed his lips, staring at a certain spot, unwilling to shed a tear.

Jiang Jianjun stroked his niece's head to comfort her: "Xiangqiao, don't cry, your uncle is here."

He then looked at his nephew: "Xuewen, go open the door. I want to see what kind of trouble she can cause."
