Chapter 81 There must be give and take

Jiang Jianguo poured some baijiu for everyone: "There were too many people at noon, and we didn't eat well. We're leaving tomorrow, so let's all have a drink tonight. Those who can't drink should drink less."

Kong Xuefang and Jiang Ruyu also raised their glasses—no, they didn't have glasses, so they raised their bowls. The group clinked glasses, and Jiang Ruyu grimaced as she took a sip. It tasted bad; it was too strong.

"Let's eat. Look at Ruyu's eyes, she can't wait." Jiang Jianguo smiled and nodded to his niece.

Jiang Ruyu chuckled: "We've been waiting for ages, let's eat. Don't be shy, I won't be polite."

Jiang Ruyu first took out a large crab, which was different from the one Zheng Yang had given her last time. This crab was caught by herself and put into the pot to steam while it was still alive, which showed how fresh it was.

She didn't even bother to say anything, just kept her head down and ate. When she looked up, she noticed there was meat in her rice bowl. Turning her head, she saw Zheng Yang's smiling eyes: "Eat yours, I'll peel it for you."

Jiang Ruyu was touched at first, and then really wanted to tell him that it was better to eat these crustaceans by himself, but saying it too directly would hurt his feelings and his considerate heart.

So she smiled and finished the meat in her bowl, then said to Zheng Yang, "Don't peel it anymore, eat it quickly, it'll get fishy and won't taste good when it gets cold." Then, amidst the teasing glances of the others at the table, she whispered, "I'd feel bad if you couldn't eat it." Whether that's true or not, you can judge for yourself.

Zheng Yang was so happy when he heard that sentence that he wanted to laugh out loud, but looking at the others, he could only hold back. Then he started to eat with his head down, thinking happily to himself that Ru Yu was worried about him and that he should eat more.

The interaction between the two of them made the other three people at the table feel a little embarrassed. Kong Xuefang and Jiang Jun looked at each other at the same time, and the atmosphere suddenly became a little sticky. Jiang Jianguo suddenly felt that he was getting in the way.

Ah, he's getting old. He should just keep drinking.

They drank until after nine o'clock. Considering that Zheng Yang had to drive the next day, they stopped drinking with him. After washing up, they went to sleep. It was just embarrassing that Jiang Jun and Kong Xuefang's wedding night had to be postponed by one day.

The next morning, everyone got up early. Kong Xuefang was thinking that her father-in-law and sister-in-law would be leaving soon, and as the new daughter-in-law, she had to cook a meal; that was the custom.

So when Jiang Ruyu offered to help, she refused: "I'll make breakfast myself today. You can help me start the fire. Ruyu, to be honest, I'm very grateful that you came all this way. I was very uncertain about my marriage with Jiang Jun, but your visit has really put my mind at ease."

Jiang Ruyu wanted to say that you might have let go a little too soon. You probably don't know that you have a troublesome mother-in-law and an even more troublesome sister-in-law. However, she didn't say that. At least for the next few years, her second sister-in-law would not live with her mother-in-law. As for the future, that would depend on whether she could manage her second brother well.

"Sister-in-law, you're too kind. We're still family, this is just our duty. My second brother is a reliable person. You two should live well and try to have a nephew or niece soon so I can be an aunt."

Kong Xuefang blushed: "What are you saying? A young lady like you shouldn't be shy."

"Hehe, it's okay for us sisters-in-law to talk about these things, no outsiders can hear us."

Breakfast was simple: rice porridge, steamed buns, stir-fried scallions and eggs, and stir-fried green beans—enough to satisfy my cravings.

After breakfast, the group had to leave. Jiang Jun and the others had to go to work, so they didn't waste any time. They packed their things, and Jiang Jun gave the bag of seafood he had bought to Ruyu.

"Hey, I know you like this, so I made you some. It's not much, but I'll make you more when I go back to visit my family during the Chinese New Year."

Jiang Ruyu smiled and accepted it: "Okay." She would send him some money later, but she wouldn't mention it now, because he wouldn't want it anyway.

Zheng Yang got into the car first and turned it around. Jiang Jianguo then said a few words: "You two should live your lives peacefully and not quarrel. Jiang Jun, you are a grown man. You should know how to yield and be tolerant, understand? Xuefang, if this kid bullies you, send a telegram to Dad, or tell me when you come back for the New Year. I will teach him a lesson."

Kong Xuefang smiled, her eyes welling up with tears: "Dad, thank you. We will definitely make it through."

"Okay, that's good. We're off now. Don't worry about home. Just take good care of yourselves."

“Okay, be careful on the road. When you get home, tell Grandma we’re going back to see her for the New Year. We’ll go back a little earlier this year,” Jiang Jun said to Ru Yu.

Jiang Ruyu nodded: "Okay, we're leaving now. Take care, Second Brother and Second Sister-in-law. I'll miss you."

Zheng Yang's car drove away, leaving a trail of dust. Jiang Jun pulled his wife, whose eyes were red, home: "Alright, I know you're reluctant, but we still have to go to work. Let's go back and air out the blankets."

"Okay, let's go." It's really lucky to have such good in-laws.

This idea deepened after seeing the several red envelopes under the pillow: "Jiang Jun, look at these, it must have been put there by that girl Ruyu."

Jiang Jun looked at the seafood in his wife's hand and smiled helplessly: "Sigh, take it. Bring her more seafood when we go back for the New Year. She knows we won't want it, that's why she put it here. I was wondering why she didn't give me a red envelope, but I didn't expect her to be waiting here."

Jiang Ruyu and the others returned to Beijing safely. They had just arrived home and hadn't even told their grandmother what their second sister-in-law was like when a telegram arrived at their house: "Jiang Jianguo, there's a telegram. Bring the stamp."

Jiang Jianguo had just sat down to rest when he heard the telegram being called. Thinking it was Jiang Jun, he took out his family's stamp, stamped it, said thank you, and started to open it as he walked away. Then, he heard Old Lady Li, who was sitting at the door, shout, "Jianguo, come quick! Jiangguo has collapsed!"

Jiang Ruyu heard this from inside the house: "Grandma, don't worry, I'll go see. Don't worry, she might have an attack soon."

How could Old Lady Jiang not be anxious? "Go, go and take a look quickly."

Jiang Ruyu quickly ran out. It was during working hours, and none of the able-bodied men in the family were home. Ma's wife, who heard the noise from the backyard, came running over, but she couldn't lift a grown man either.

When Jiang Ruyu came out, she ran into Zheng Yang, who had just parked his car and was returning to the yard. Zheng Yang also saw Jiang Jianguo lying on the ground at a glance and ran over to see what was going on without saying a word.

Jiang Ruyu ran over, also unaware of what was happening. Old Mrs. Li anxiously said, "Pinch the philtrum, pinch it quickly."

Jiang Ruyu subconsciously did as the old woman said, pinching his philtrum until it almost bled. Jiang Jianguo finally woke up slowly. Old Mrs. Jiang also came out. She was scared. Her youngest son was already gone. If anything happened to her eldest son, she would really have to go see her husband.

"Jianguo, what's wrong with you? Why did you suddenly faint? Are you trying to kill your mother?"
