Chapter 19 Unexpected Fortune: Imperial Green and Glassy Jade (2/2)

Walking through the alley, Gu Yunyang used the light from his phone's flashlight to quickly navigate the streets and alleys, intending to take shortcuts to the East District.

It's a bit of a shame, though. The phone works, but without internet, there's no way to update anything except for the things I already downloaded.

Bang.

As he was thinking, a large package fell in front of him and landed on the ground, startling Gu Yunyang.

In a split second, without even thinking, he put the package into the base space and then disappeared.

The next second, a person climbed over the wall from the neighboring yard, jumped down, and searched around for the fallen package.

Gu Yunyang was somewhat bewildered.

He really only thought about it for a split second before subconsciously making that move.

However, it seems this person wasn't packing their own things, otherwise why would they need to climb the wall?

He felt no unease whatsoever; he accepted it with a clear conscience.

"What the hell? I just threw it out. Could it be that I threw it too hard and it landed in the yard across the street?"

The dark figure cursed and swore, and then tried to search the courtyard across the street.

Then another commotion arose.

"Get up, the things are gone."

"Who did this?"

"Don't let them get away."

"He can't escape. Even if he had three legs, he wouldn't be able to get away if he dared to steal our things."

Upon hearing the sound, the man shuddered and then ran away.

Before long, someone came out of the courtyard and chased after them at both ends of the alley.

Gu Yunyang shook his head. It seemed there was something wrong with that courtyard.

Could this be a base for some black market?

Gu Yunyang didn't think too much about it; these things had nothing to do with him.

"By the way, let me see what's in the package."

To be honest, this package is quite large and heavy.

So it fell to the ground with a rather loud thud, almost hitting Gu Yunyang.

It was these sounds that alerted the people inside, who then chased after them.

"This little thief is quite bold; I wonder what he was thinking."

That's too good for him.

Gu Yunyang opened the package and found several wooden boxes inside.

Gu Yunyang was surprised to find that these boxes were not simple either.

"Huanghuali?"

Gu Yunyang picked up a box and examined it carefully. After a while, he confirmed that the box was actually made of huanghuali wood.

Things are fine now; those in the know really like these things.

In a few years, this thing will no longer be valued.

Even the carved patterns on it are scraped off.

This is hedonism.

Upon opening the box, a jade Guanyin statue appeared, much to Gu Yunyang's delight.

"It's imperial green, and the carving is of the highest quality; it's quite valuable."

If this one item alone were preserved for posterity, it would be worth at least tens of millions.

If it's an antique, the price will be even higher.

Gu Yunyang wasn't unfamiliar with money, but he had seen plenty of good things, but none of them belonged to him.

I've seen him in museums and TV dramas.

Now that he owns it, he is naturally happy.

"These past few years have been alright, but in a few years, these things will be worthless. We can figure out what to do then."

For him, food was worthless, but for others, food was a lifesaver.

Gu Yunyang was quite annoyed. There were quite a few jadeite pieces like these, all of them imperial green or glassy.

"Wow, these remaining boxes are quite heavy. What could they be?"
