Chapter 207 Searching for Bears and Catching Rats

"Awoo~"

The little Tibetan fox woke up by the fire and found itself all alone.

Looking up, I saw many mounted warriors around the farm, seemingly searching for something.

They were dressed in green military uniforms, each carrying a long gun and a saber, which immediately frightened the little Tibetan fox.

It tucked its tail between its legs, sniffed around, walked to the tent, and then started barking at the tent.

"Awoo~"

"Awoo~"

"Um?"

Inside the tent, Lu Fangfang was awakened by the cries of the little Tibetan fox. She closed her eyes and stroked the furry head in her arms.

With Xiaohua in her arms, she wasn't worried about anything happening outside.

I must say, Xiao Hua's fur is really comfortable to hug.

It's still small now, but it will be even more comfortable to hold when it grows up.

"Meow~"

Little Flower forcefully poked its big head out from under her arm.

It gently shook it and then started combing Lu Fangfang's hair again.

"Awoo~"

"Awoo~"

It was so noisy outside that Lu Fangfang frowned. She pulled the fluffy head over, took a deep breath, and then opened her eyes.

It feels so different to pet a big cat, it's really satisfying.

"Meow~"

Xiao Hua looked at Lu Fangfang with a helpless expression.

That bite messed up all its fur.

Little Flower didn't even bother with grooming its hair anymore; it lowered its head and started licking its own fur.

"Haha, okay, okay, let me sort it out for you."

Lu Fangfang was overjoyed. She reached out and stroked Xiao Hua's fur a couple of times, smoothing it out, before getting up.

She stretched out a big yawn and then lifted the tent flap.

In an instant, a yellow figure rushed in.

Lu Fangfang was startled and quickly stopped it.

"Hey, what's with all this fuss and rushing around?"

"Awoo~"

The little Tibetan fox looked pitiful. It glanced outside and then looked up at Lu Fangfang.

"What's wrong? What's outside?"

Lu Fangfang carried the little Tibetan fox and walked out barefoot.

On the distant grassland outside the tent, there were many fully armed soldiers. She immediately understood that they were searching for the Tibetan bear from last night.

"This guy is really fast. Hopefully we can catch him."

"Awoo~"

"Don't worry, they're not arresting you."

Lu Fangfang patted the little Tibetan fox's head and then bent down to put it down.

Two aluminum lunch boxes were placed in front of the campfire.

Lu Fangfang went over and touched it; the lunchbox was still warm.

Upon opening the box, one contained red sorghum rice, and the other contained stir-fried potato shreds with green peppers.

"This man..."

A smile appeared on her face. She put down her lunchbox, took two pieces of firewood, and threw them into the campfire.

The fire had long since died out, but there were still a few embers inside. She parted the embers and put some firewood on it, and smoke soon rose up.

Early in the morning, it was a bit cold in Qilian Mountain. She tightened her clothes and went to check on the incubation room.

Under the stove, the coal briquettes were burning brightly, and the thermometer in the incubator showed 37.5 degrees Celsius.

Seeing that everything was normal, she went to the river to wash her face, then returned to the campfire and ate breakfast.

"Awoo~"

"Do you want some?"

Lu Fangfang held up the red sorghum rice and showed it to the little Tibetan fox.

Of all the coarse grains of that era, sorghum was the most unpalatable. It was astringent, made her throat dry, and was hard to swallow. She found it only slightly better than wild vegetable dumplings.

A few years ago, sorghum rice wasn't so bad. In recent years, a new variety has been introduced, which has a higher yield, but it has a lot of husks and doesn't taste as good as the old variety.

But there's nothing we can do about it. In this era, production is everything, and it's not easy to have enough to eat.

"Awoo~"

The little Tibetan fox glanced at it, but wasn't interested, so it lay down on the grass and started to doze off again.

Lu Fangfang smiled and shook her head. She picked up her spoon and began to eat slowly and carefully.

You can't eat this too quickly, even if you want to.

She scooped up the shredded potatoes with a spoon and poured them into the sorghum rice, mixing them in.

These shredded potatoes have no oil or water, they're like boiled potatoes, but they taste better than sorghum.

After a while, Lu Fangfang ate all the sorghum rice in the lunchbox, leaving none behind.

She picked up the kettle, poured a little water into her lunchbox, shook it, and drank it down.

She closed the lunchbox and turned to look at the grassland to the south.

The soldiers rode their horses further and further away, until they could almost disappear from sight.

"It's good to search everything, so that wild animals won't bother the farm."

As she was muttering to herself, Lu Fangfang spotted a pika on a mud brick not far away. She carefully picked up the air gun next to her and silently aimed it at it.

"Smack."

"Awoo~"

The little Tibetan fox standing nearby instantly became excited and ran over immediately.

After a while, it carried the pika and placed it in front of Lu Fangfang.

Taking out her dagger, Lu Fangfang picked out the lead bullet from the pika, then patted its head and said with a smile, "Eat it."

"Awoo~"

Early in the morning, Sister Shufen hadn't arrived yet.

While there was still some time, Lu Fangfang called out Xiao Hua from the tent and led the two little ones to wander around the grassland.

On the boundless grassland, many unnamed wildflowers bloomed, some yellow, some pink, and some purple.

She looked down and recognized only one dandelion.

She heard that this stuff could be used to make tea, which could beautify the skin, so she squatted down and dug some up, planning to make it into tea and try it out.

Not far away, a little Tibetan fox was looking into a pika hole, stretching out its paws to dig.

Xiao Hua sat next to Lu Fangfang, looking around.

Seeing a pika not far away, it crouched down and slowly crept over.

"rub."

As soon as it got close, Little Flower rushed out and killed the pika before it could even react.

Adult snow leopards are known for their ability to prey on yaks, and they can easily catch a small rabbit.

After eating half of it, it turned its head and called out to the little Tibetan fox.

"Meow~"

"Awoo~"

The little Tibetan fox, who was still digging into the mouse hole, immediately ran over there eagerly.

...

Lu Fangfang was digging up dandelions, while the two little ones were catching pikas.

By the time she had finished digging up the dandelions, Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox's bellies had also swelled up.

With these two little guys around, there are far fewer mouse holes in the grasslands near the troop.

"Little Flower, Little Yellow Dog, let's go home."

Lu Fangfang took a rope, tied up the dandelions she had just dug up, and then carried them back home.

On the grassland not far away, Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox chased after her.

One of the little Tibetan foxes had a chubby pika in its mouth.
