Chapter 259 Tense Atmosphere

Three more days passed quickly.

Zhuang Mingcheng, along with Xiaohua and the little Tibetan fox, has been gone for six days.

During those six days, not a single message came back, and the atmosphere in the group became more and more tense each day.

That noon, Lu Fangfang was really anxious and couldn't wait any longer, so she decided to go to the troupe to ask about the situation.

As soon as she left the family compound and entered the regiment, she saw Zhuang Mingcheng's messenger riding a horse out.

She quickly waved and stopped Hao Dazhuang.

"Hoo."

Hao Dazhuang jumped off his horse and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Before Lu Fangfang could even ask, he quickly said:

"Sister-in-law, I was just about to come find you. The commander asked me to tell you that he, Xiaohua, and Xiaozanghu are all well."

"Little...Little Flower, Little Tibetan Fox has done a great job this time. The commander will be busy for a while, so please don't worry about him, sister-in-law."

Lu Fangfang listened and breathed a sigh of relief.

Experiencing this situation for the first time, she was truly terrified.

"Comrade Dazhuang, when will your regimental commander Zhuang be back? How many more days will he be busy?"

Hao Dazhuang scratched his head, looking troubled.

"Look at me, I shouldn't have asked that."

Lu Fangfang shook her head, took a step back, and quickly said, "Comrade Dazhuang, thank you for your trouble. You should go and get back to work."

"Sister-in-law, I'm leaving now."

Hao Dazhuang was in a hurry to report back.

His company had been busy for almost a week, and they were about to catch the spy. He didn't want to miss this opportunity.

He remounted his horse, cracked his whip, and immediately galloped off.

"Comrade Hao Dazhuang, please pass on a message to your regiment and tell him that everything is fine at home."

"Sister-in-law, I promise I'll deliver it to you."

"Giddy up!"

Lu Fangfang stood on the road, staring at the man and the horse. It took her a while to come back to her senses.

Knowing that her man was doing well, she finally felt a little relieved.

"Hey, Little Flower and Little Yellow Dog did a great job."

Lu Fangfang couldn't help but feel a little proud.

For this matter, all four members of her family worked together, determined to find out who was behind it.

"Sister-in-law, wait a moment, here is a letter for you."

Lu Fangfang was taken aback. She turned around and saw a soldier walking quickly towards her.

"My letter?"

"Yes, sister-in-law, your name is written on it."

Lu Fangfang took the envelope and saw that her name was indeed written on it.

Looking at the mailing address again, it was from Linshui Special Zone, meaning it was sent from my hometown.

"Comrade, thank you for your trouble."

On her way to the farm, Lu Fangfang carefully opened the envelope and looked down to read it.

'Dear Fangfang, the money and tickets you sent have arrived at home. They've been a great help...'

"I have good news for you. Your second brother got married on the sixth day of last month. Your sister-in-law is from the Yangjialing brigade next door; she's very hardworking and filial..."

"The wheat harvest in our brigade is finished. The rains were good this year, so the harvest is decent. The summer grain distribution is the largest we've had in recent years. Don't worry about home over there..."

Lu Fangfang held the letter and slowly read it.

She felt as if an old man was gently talking to her, calming her down completely.

The letter only mentioned the changes in my hometown over the past six months, and didn't say anything else.

When she arrived at the farm, she read the letter twice more.

Sitting in the storage room of the breeding shed, she picked up a pen and began to write a reply.

She briefly wrote down her situation over the past six months, and at the end, after hesitating for a moment, she still wrote down that she was pregnant.

No matter what, we should make the people back home happy.

After she finished writing, she folded it and put it in her pocket.

She planned to go back that evening, pick up a few developed photos, put them in an envelope, and mail them back home so that her family could see how she looked now and also let them see the Qilian Mountains, this magical place.

"Xiao Lu, the quail eggs in the incubator look like they'll hatch in a few days. Should we move the quails from the brooder boxes into bamboo cages?"

"Yes, they really should be put in the cage, otherwise they won't grow properly."

Lu Fangfang got up and went inside with Zhao Lanying.

They opened the brooder box and began separating the quails into the bamboo cages.

These little guys, after being raised for more than half a month and fed well at the farm, have shed their baby fur and grown normal feathers.

To be honest, they're a bit ugly. Quails are only at their most attractive in the days following hatching.

"Xiao Lu, look, is this a male or a female?"

Lu Fangfang turned her head and glanced at it, then parted the feathers to look at it again. "Just throw the female quail into the first cage."

"Chirp chirp~"

"Chirp chirp~"

The two men separated the male and female quails in the brooder box and put them into different bamboo cages.

The little quails were still getting used to their new environment.

Lu Fangfang took a spoon, scooped some of the prepared feed, and put it into the bamboo tube in front of the cage.

Upon seeing the food, the quails stretched out their necks and began pecking at it.

Watching from the side, Zhao Lanying couldn't help but admire, "Xiao Lu, feeding quails this way is so much more convenient. The cage you designed is truly ingenious."

"I learned it from someone else."

Lu Fangfang smiled, feeling embarrassed to take credit for it.

"By the way, Xiao Lu, I heard from my husband that the regiment seems to be arresting someone. He told our farm to be extra careful."

Lu Fangfang nodded. They definitely needed to be careful, especially at night.

In the afternoon, Sister Shufen arrived, and she gave Sister Shufen some instructions.

The semi-automatic rifle she had applied for was in a cabinet in the storage room. She took out the key specifically to leave one for Sister Shufen.

"No need, no need. I don't know how to use a gun. Besides, the farm is right here in the regiment. Who would dare to do that? Our regiment's patrol team comes over every night."

"Sister Shufen, how about I stay here and keep watch for the next few nights?"

Wang Shufen quickly waved her hand again, "Sister, you can go back without worry. I'll stay here tonight and it won't interfere with my work in the fields during the day."

Lu Fangfang was still worried, so she pulled Sister Shufen directly to the storage room.

She took out a semi-automatic rifle and gave Sister Shufen a brief lesson.

In case of an emergency, there's no need to expect to kill enemy agents; simply attracting nearby people with gunfire is enough.

After finishing, Lu Fangfang went into the yard and deliberately touched the little wild donkey again.

"If anything happens tonight, shout it out to alert Sister Shufen."

"Oh...ah...oh...ah..."

"Smack."

"I'm not telling you to call me that now."

Lu Fangfang was somewhat helpless; this idiot.

She vigorously rubbed the donkey's head, took the letter, and returned to the family compound.
