"Awoo~"
"Meow~"
The two were eating bear paws heartily, while under the table, Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox were getting anxious.
The two little ones nuzzled against Zhuang Mingcheng and Lu Fangfang respectively, their mouths watering.
"Alright, alright, I won't forget you all."
Lu Fangfang picked up two pieces of bear paw meat and stuffed them into her mouth.
She chewed as she took the little one's food bowl and went outside.
There was still some broth in the casserole on the stove. She scooped some into a bowl and set it aside to cool.
Back inside, she picked up two slices of bear paw meat and gave them to the two little ones.
"This is one of the Eight Treasures. Do you two have more? Just two slices, but you can drink more soup."
Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox chewed heartily, and after finishing their meal, they looked up at the two of them.
Zhuang Mingcheng had no choice but to put another piece on each of the two little ones' plates.
"This is the last one."
No sooner had he finished speaking than the braying of the stubborn little donkey rang out from outside the courtyard.
Zhuang Mingcheng held his chopsticks and looked at his wife with a wry smile.
"Oh dear, these are all gluttons, they want to eat everything they see."
Lu Fangfang felt somewhat helpless. After all, the little wild donkey had done a lot of work yesterday, and not feeding it would make her seem biased.
Holding the small bowl, she picked up a piece and strode out.
On the south side of the courtyard, the little wild donkey was nudging the chestnut horse. When it saw Lu Fangfang come out, it immediately wagged its little tail.
"Whose donkey has ever eaten bear's paw? You stubborn little donkey, you're really living the good life by following me."
Lu Fangfang muttered something and handed over the bear paw meat.
The little wild donkey curled its tongue and immediately began to chew.
"Oh...ah..."
Its eyes lit up, and it barked urgently at Lu Fangfang again.
"That's all, even if you call, it's all gone, just one piece."
Lu Fangfang looked at the stubborn little donkey with a puzzled expression. This time, its little tail was wagging faster than before.
It's really strange that herbivores can taste whether meat or vegetables taste good or not.
She slapped the donkey's head to quiet it down, then filled a small bowl with soup and went back into the house.
"ah……"
Holding the small bowl, she blew on it, carefully took a sip, and felt very satisfied.
The soup made from bear paws was very thick and sticky, and she guessed it was full of collagen, so it tasted really good.
"I haven't made the rooster soup yet. I'll stir-fry it with bear meat at noon. Don't waste it, Fangfang. This soup is nutritious, drink more of it."
Lu Fangfang finished all the soup in her bowl, then picked up a few pieces of bear paw, ate them, and put down her chopsticks.
"Why aren't you eating?"
"This is too nourishing. I'm afraid it'll be too much. Moderation is key. You can eat the rest."
Lu Fangfang touched her belly and felt a little full; this stuff was really nutritious.
Zhuang Mingcheng looked at his wife with some surprise. He didn't expect that his wife could actually resist the temptation of delicious food.
He picked up his chopsticks and put a few slices of bear paw meat into the small bowl, intending to give them to his wife for the next meal.
He picked up the rest and started eating.
After dinner, it was still a bit early, so the two of them didn't do anything else. They went door-to-door in the family compound to inform everyone about the wedding the next day and invite everyone to attend.
The wedding is tomorrow and they're in a real rush, so they have a lot to do today.
When they arrived at Xu Jinbu and Xiao Ting's house, Lu Fangfang was hesitating whether to knock on the door when her husband pulled her away.
"Mingcheng, you and Xu Jinbu are comrades-in-arms. Isn't it a bit inappropriate to just not inform his family?"
"fine."
Zhuang Mingcheng shook his head and resolutely pulled his wife away.
He went back to the troupe yesterday afternoon and learned about the incident where Xiao Hua was scolded by Xiao Ting when she went to get treatment for her injury.
He knew better than anyone else what Xiaohua's place was in his wife's heart, and he understood her feelings at the time. This matter was far from over.
The two walked around the family compound and eventually returned to the doorstep of Wang Haibing and Yang Yufeng's house.
Lu Fangfang turned to look at her husband.
"Bang, bang, bang."
Without hesitation, Zhuang Mingcheng knocked on the courtyard gate.
After a while, the courtyard gate was opened, and Da Niu poked her head out and looked at the two of them.
"Hey girl, where are your parents?"
"My dad went to the regiment, and my mom is still sleeping."
Lu Fangfang was stunned for a moment, and could only tell Da Niu about the marriage.
When she got home, she instructed her husband to go to the troupe and talk to Wang Haibing in person.
After notifying the family members in the compound, the two hitched up the donkey cart and prepared to deliver the meat to the regiment's canteen. The vegetables were not in a hurry; they could be delivered in the afternoon or the next morning.
Lu Fangfang found an enamel basin and cut off a large piece, intending to keep it for her family to eat.
She also kept a large bone for the two little ones to use as teething toys.
"Fangfang, did you keep the bear fat residue?"
"Don't worry, we've kept a separate copy for each one."
The two men drove a donkey cart, carrying bear meat and bones, to the regiment.
Among the meat on the donkey cart, Lu Fangfang had placed a separate piece tied with straw rope. She still remembered the kindness that Dr. Meng had shown to Xiaohua and wanted to express her gratitude.
Upon arriving at the canteen, Zhuang Mingcheng called for people to carry bear meat inside.
Lu Fangfang picked up the piece that had been cut off separately, told her husband, and went to the medical room.
Inside the room, Xiao Ting and Meng Wentao were both present.
Lu Fangfang glanced at Xiao Ting and then handed the bear meat to Meng Wentao.
"Sister-in-law, no need, no need..."
"Comrade Meng, please accept this. My little Hua is very grateful to you. If it weren't for your medicine, she would have gone bald."
Lu Fangfang smiled and thanked him, then invited him to her wedding the next day, before turning and leaving.
Before leaving, she glanced at Xiao Ting one last time.
The man had some bruises on one side of his face, as if he had been beaten.
She shook her head, too lazy to think about it anymore, and strode out.
Inside the medical room, Meng Wentao was carrying a large piece of bear meat, clicking his tongue in amazement.
He heard about his sister-in-law beating a bear yesterday afternoon, but he didn't quite believe it. He never expected to see bear meat today.
"Sister-in-law is really amazing. Just by looking at the meat, you can tell the bear is quite big."
Beside her, Xiao Ting snorted and started rolling the egg on her face again.
...
Lu Fangfang returned home and got busy again.
After a while, Wang Shufen, Sun Manling, and Zhao Lanying arrived one after another, along with several other women. Everyone pitched in to help.
Now that feudal superstitions have been eliminated, weddings no longer have those old customs, but the "double happiness" character still needs to be pasted up, and firecrackers still need to be set off.
Fortunately, Zhuang Mingcheng had prepared everything, and his wives took the red paper and started cutting it.
Lu Fangfang tried on the new military uniform, but it didn't fit her quite well.
This is her dress for tomorrow; it can't be an ill-fitting one. She called to Sister-in-law Manling and asked her to have it altered.
When it was noon, Lu Fangfang didn't let her sisters-in-law go back; she ate at home instead.
In the troupe, Zhuang Mingcheng and his men were setting up tables and chairs in the auditorium, preparing for tomorrow's wedding.
