"Alright, now it's clean. You two go have some fun."
Zhuang Mingcheng took a towel and dried the two little ones, then washed his hands again.
Rice was cooking on the stove, and he picked up some firewood and put a few pieces into the stove.
Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox shook their fur and ran to the south side of the yard to greet the little wild donkey.
"Meow~"
"Awoo~"
The little wild donkey lay on the haystack, chewing repeatedly in its mouth.
It had eaten almost all of the sunflower head, leaving only a little bit, but it couldn't bear to swallow it now.
Little Flower leaned forward and sniffed, then licked the donkey's head.
Beside them, the little Tibetan fox jumped directly onto the little wild donkey.
"Oh...ah..."
The little wild donkey brayed once, but didn't seem to care.
In the wild, the Tibetan wild ass has snow leopards among its natural enemies, but it is also very stubborn, and its snout and legs are powerful weapons, often allowing it to kill wild beasts.
Of course, the Tibetan bear is an exception; it's truly unbeatable.
Xiao Hua bit the donkey's ear and played with it for a while before running back into the house to find Lu Fangfang.
"Awoo~"
"Meow~"
The two little ones scratched at the door of the inner room and called out to it.
Seeing this in the courtyard, Zhuang Mingcheng had no choice but to walk over quickly and push Xiao Hua and the little Tibetan fox away.
These two little ones really can't be without their wives for even a day; they're just like little kids.
"Fangfang, stop drawing now. I've finished cooking. Wash your hands and eat."
As he spoke, he stepped forward and took a look.
In the picture my wife drew today, there's a golden eagle, a Pallas's rabbit disguised as a rock, and two pikas peeking out from a distance.
"Fangfang, your drawing is so beautiful."
Zhuang Mingcheng was full of praise.
My wife's drawings are a bit like comic books, no, they're more dynamic than comic books.
It's like... like watching a black and white film; you can understand what your wife meant without any text below.
"By the way, Sister Shufen just said that Xiaohua and the little yellow dog have caught the mouse in her house. It's a pika, but I don't know how it got into her house."
"Really? So fast? My little flower and little yellow dog are really amazing."
Lu Fangfang put down her pen and gave the two of them a good compliment.
These two little guys have eaten so many pikas that they're now expert mouse hunters.
She picked up Xiaohua and gently rubbed her cheeks.
She leaned closer to Xiaohua's head and took another careful look.
The scar on Xiaohua's head has faded considerably, and a lot of downy hair has grown around it. She feels that it will be completely healed in another month.
"Oh dear, thankfully you're not disfigured. Little Flower, you'd better be more careful when you go hunting in the future."
Zhuang Mingcheng leaned closer to take a look, then smiled and touched the little flower as well.
After playing with them for a while, the two of them sat down at the table in the outer room and ate their dinner.
Today's dish was stir-fried radish greens with sesame oil, and there was also scallion sauce on the table. The two of them ate a bowl of rice, which was a rather light meal.
Lu Fangfang picked up a piece of radish greens and tasted it, finding it very refreshing.
"After the radishes are harvested, I'll dry the radish greens into some vegetables. They're quite nice to eat in winter."
"Yes, let's plant some garlic sprouts in the house, so we can have some greens to eat in the winter."
The two chatted and finished their dinner.
After resting for a while, Lu Fangfang returned to the inner room, sat down at her desk, and started drawing again.
Zhuang Mingcheng sat next to his wife, admiring the sketchbook he had finished drawing.
The wife started drawing from the moment when the cat overlord left the pile of rocks and handed over his territory to his five children.
The drawing continues until it encounters a golden eagle on its way to its new territory, then disguises itself, and finally runs into an abandoned groundhog burrow.
It's like a black and white movie; it's quite interesting to watch.
I leaned closer to my wife and took another look. She had already started drawing a new storyline, which went back even further, starting from when the cat overlord gave birth to five children.
In my wife's painting, the five little Pallas's cats are all still blind, which is very cute.
Zhuang Mingcheng propped his head up with a smile on his face.
He felt he could submit his wife's paintings to a publishing house so that people all over the country could get to know the Pallas's cat.
He remembered the People's Fine Arts Publishing House in Shanghai, which seemed to specialize in comic books, and his wife's drawings were just as good as anyone else's.
Zhuang Mingcheng propped his head up and watched for a while longer before finally letting out a yawn.
Feeling a bit bored, he got up and went to the outer room to get two books.
Sitting next to his wife, he silently began to learn by comparing and contrasting.
...
Lu Fangfang drew for a while and then got a little tired.
She put down her pen and stretched out a big yawn.
Turning her head, she noticed that her husband was holding two books, one of which had English text on the cover.
"Hey? Mingcheng, what book are you holding?"
Lu Fangfang was startled. This era was very serious. Foreign language books could not be read casually, let alone secretly kept.
She still had some doubts in her mind; she didn't remember her husband speaking English.
"Oh, a foreign language version of the leader's quotations. A comrade from the Ministry of Public Security gave it to me when I went to the provincial capital. I want to learn some foreign languages."
Zhuang Mingcheng scratched his head, looking a little embarrassed.
Comrade Zhou Qi from last time was able to recognize foreign languages fluently, which made him extremely envious.
Now that he has nothing to do, he wants to learn by comparison and learn another language, which he feels will be helpful to him in the future.
"Can you really learn this way? It must be very difficult."
Lu Fangfang was very surprised. She didn't expect her husband to have a thirst for knowledge. That was a good habit.
"It's okay, I'll compare them. I also learned a little bit when I was in high school."
