Chapter 373 Hot Pot with Rock Mutton, The Gluttonous Donkey Who Didn't Believe in the Superstition

"Whoa~"

"You stubborn little donkey, don't you dare to mess around, especially with those hooves of yours. If you dare to kick someone, I can't protect you."

Lu Fangfang jumped off the donkey cart and gave the donkey some instructions in front of its ear.

This stubborn donkey holds grudges the most, and she was still a little worried.

"You're something else, getting all worked up over asking me to mate with a mare."

"Oh...ah..."

The little wild donkey stretched out its muzzle and nudged her with dissatisfaction.

"Ahem, alright, alright, I'll stop now."

Lu Fangfang turned around and opened the courtyard gate.

Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox jumped off the donkey cart and ran into the yard.

The little wild donkey, pulling its load, followed them inside.

Lu Fangfang turned her head to look at her sisters-in-law under the birch tree, then smiled and went home.

She took the hay off the donkey cart and put it under the shed, then unloaded the spruce tower.

Finally, she untied the sack and pulled out the argali sheep inside.

"Winter is almost here, so I'll make a little jacket out of the argali skin."

Lu Fangfang touched it, feeling a surge of joy in her heart.

After all, it was a gift from Da Pang, so I can't waste it.

She still had the rock sheep skin she had stolen from Da Pang last time, and she was thinking of making a sheepskin jacket for Mingcheng as well.

There was nothing we could do; cotton was a rare commodity in those days, and you couldn't buy it even if you wanted to.

She found a piece of rope, tied it to the sheep's leg, and hung it up. Then, she took a dagger and began skinning the sheep.

There's also a wolf skin in the house, which she turned into a mattress, and it's currently being used as a mat on the heated kang (a traditional Chinese bed-stove).

There was also a bear skin belonging to a big bear, but it was too big, and she couldn't bear to cut it up to make clothes. She planned to keep it as is, after all, it was a rare item.

Besides that, her family has the most rabbit fur.

She thought she would cut it up and make a thick hat in a few days.

Lu Fangfang's hands moved swiftly, and she quickly peeled off the skin of the rock sheep.

This is a small Himalayan blue sheep. It's not too gamey or muttony, and the meat is very tender. It should taste good.

Holding the dagger, she scraped off some fat from the hide and tossed it to Little Flower and the little Tibetan fox.

She burned some wood ash, scrubbed the sheepskin for a while, and then hung it on the wall in a shady place.

Now that it's cold, the mutton can be stored for a while. She took a dagger and cut off the tender meat from the argali sheep, preparing to have mutton hot pot for dinner.

She used the dagger to separate the remaining parts and put them into an enamel basin.

After finishing her work, Lu Fangfang washed her hands and went to the breeding farm.

Lan Ying's sister-in-law was filling grass seeds on the grassland outside. She put down her rifle, rolled up her sleeves, and went out to help.

After harvesting the grass seeds, it was getting late.

She wandered around the breeding shed, and seeing that there was nothing wrong, she said goodbye to Sister Lanying and prepared to go home to her family compound.

On the way, she went to the field on the riverbank and picked a large cabbage.

After carrying her home, she busied herself with preparing dinner.

Since there was no hot pot base oil at home, she could only use bear oil, chili peppers, and some of the few spices she had to make some herself.

After a while, it got a little dark.

Zhuang Mingcheng pushed open the courtyard gate and stepped into the house, where he was greeted by a rich aroma.

He couldn't help but swallow hard, and asked curiously, "Fangfang, what delicious food have you made this time?"

"We're having hot pot today, so wash your hands and come quickly."

Lu Fangfang sat in front of the coal stove, where the pot was bubbling.

She sniffed it, her mouth watering.

On the table next to us, there were several plates of mutton, as well as cabbage leaves and potato slices, ready for us to eat.

In the courtyard, Zhuang Mingcheng washed his hands and quickly walked into the house.

His eyes lit up when he saw the food on the table. "Fangfang, where did this rock goat meat come from?"

"It was a gift from Big Fatty."

Lu Fangfang quickly waved her hand, signaling her husband to sit opposite her.

She picked up her chopsticks, took a few slices of mutton, and put them into the boiling pot.

It's autumn now, the perfect time to eat mutton.

"Big Fatty? Which Big Fatty? Is there anyone named Big Fatty in our compound?"

Zhuang Mingcheng was taken aback.

"It's not the fat guy from our residential compound..."

Lu Fangfang didn't have time to say anything and quickly took a bite.

Seeing this, Zhuang Mingcheng was also extremely tempted.

He quickly picked up a piece of mutton, dipped it in the broth, and then put it in his mouth to chew.

"It smells so good! This mutton is so tender and fragrant, it's even better than the last time we had it."

Across from her, Lu Fangfang chewed slowly, and was satisfied in no time.

After a moment, she smiled and said, "Big Fatty is that snow leopard on the mountain. You even stole someone's ibex last time, have you forgotten?"

"This big fat guy, you really know how to name things."

Zhuang Mingcheng was both amused and exasperated.

When the baby is born, I can't let my wife name it. It's both "Big Fat" and "Little Flower".

Oh, and we also have a little yellow dog at home. The name we chose is...well, let's just say it's not great.

With a piece of mutton in his hand, he asked curiously, "Big...Big Fatty sent you a argali sheep? What's the story behind that?"

While eating, Lu Fangfang recounted her experiences of the day.

Even now, when she thinks about it, she marvels at how she managed to get a snow leopard to deliver a gift. No one would believe it if she told them; she was definitely the first person to do it.

Across from him, Zhuang Mingcheng glanced at his wife, then at Xiaohua squatting in front of the stove, and couldn't help but chuckle.

Last time on the mountain, the snow leopard was injured by a bear. My wife treated it and left it a bunch of bear entrails.

The snow leopard brought the blue sheep this time; it's unclear whether it was out of gratitude or for Xiaohua's sake.

He shook his head with a smile, too lazy to think about it anymore; it was probably both.

"Meow~"

"Awoo~"

Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox squatted in front of the stove and couldn't help but call out to her.

"Can you two handle spicy food? Never mind, I'll wash you again."

Lu Fangfang dipped the mutton in the hot pot, then rinsed it in clean water.

She bent down and placed the mutton into the bowls of Xiaohua and the little yellow dog.

The two little ones immediately lowered their heads and started eating.

A large donkey's head poked its head in through the doorway. Seeing everyone eating, it brayed in dissatisfaction.

"Oh...ah..."

"You greedy donkey, didn't I put corn in it for you? This stuff is spicy, you can't eat it."

The little wild donkey stretched out its head, completely disbelieving.

As it looked into the room, its drool began to drip.

Seeing this, Lu Fangfang had no choice but to pick up a piece of mutton with her chopsticks.

This time, instead of washing it in clean water, she added a red chili pepper to the mutton.

She picked up Xiaohua's basin, put the mutton she had cooked in it, and carried it to the doorway.

The little wild donkey couldn't wait any longer; it immediately licked it into its mouth and began to chew.

At first, it ate happily, but as it chewed, the spiciness kicked in.

It snorted loudly, its nostrils flared, and opened its mouth to bark.

"Oh...ah..."

Lu Fangfang scooped up some water and quickly gave it a sip.

This gluttonous donkey dares to eat anything, but it never expected to finally suffer a setback with chili peppers.

"See, I didn't lie to you, did I? This stuff is very spicy, you can't handle it. If you still don't believe me, I'll give you another bite."

Upon hearing this, the little wild donkey instinctively took a step back.

It stuck out its tongue, opened its donkey mouth, and hurriedly turned and ran away.
