"Sis, it's so cold! It's much colder here than back home."
Xiuxiu looked out the window into the courtyard and saw that everything was covered in frost.
Early in the morning, she felt that the temperature outside was at least minus ten degrees Celsius, which was freezing cold.
"If it's cold, just wear more clothes."
Lu Fangfang picked up the scarf and wrapped it around Xiuxiu's neck.
She picked up her military overcoat, put it on, and then pushed open the door and went out.
When she arrived at the shed, she lifted the curtain and tarpaulin and went inside to look at the cages. The two snow chickens she had caught earlier were still alive and well, and the quails were also doing well, but they had stopped laying eggs.
"Looks like we'll have to move indoors."
Lu Fangfang was a little worried; these quails didn't taste very good.
Holding a small basin, she poured in the mixed feed, clapped her hands, and went to the farm with Xiuxiu.
After turning the corner and reaching the south road, I saw snowmen of all sizes and shapes lining the roadside, which looked quite spectacular.
"Xiuxiu, how many snowmen did you and the others build?"
"Hehe, a few dozen, I guess."
Xiuxiu felt a great sense of accomplishment looking at the large pile of snowmen.
Given the current weather, these snowmen won't melt easily and can last a long time.
Lu Fangfang smiled and shook her head. She glanced at it a few more times before taking Xiuxiu into the breeding farm.
As soon as she pushed open the door to the storage room, a wave of heat hit her, and she finally came back to life.
She took off her military overcoat and quickly went to the stove to warm herself up.
"Hey girl, is it cold outside?"
"It's cold, it's freezing. No matter how thick you're dressed, you'll be frozen solid if you stay here any longer."
It's only the beginning of the tenth lunar month now, and it will get even colder in a few days.
Lu Fangfang looked into the room and found the little wild donkey lying not far from the fire wall, its head bobbing back and forth, as if it hadn't woken up yet.
She got up and walked over, reaching out to pat the donkey's head. "Little stubborn donkey, take us out for a run later."
The little wild donkey opened its eyes groggily and looked up at her.
Lu Fangfang smiled, took the donkey feeding bowl, filled it with some crushed corn, went to greenhouse number two, chopped half a cabbage, put it in the bowl and mixed it.
She carried it into the storage room, and before she could even speak, the little wild donkey immediately came over excitedly.
It nudged Lu Fangfang's arm in a fawning manner, then lowered its head and began to eat heartily.
The little wild donkey was quite pleased with itself; with so much good food, it didn't need to go out and dig for grass in the snow.
Lu Fangfang patted the donkey's back and then went to work on the sled.
She was busy until after 10 a.m. when her sled was finally finished.
"Xiuxiu, let's carry it out and try."
Xiuxiu was also very curious.
She quickly moved to the other side, and she and her sister lifted the sled and went to the grassland outside.
"Sis, which way do we go?"
"We definitely need to use wild donkeys to pull it."
Lu Fangfang sat down and had Xiuxiu push her around to try it out.
Feeling that everything was alright, she called over the little wild donkey and put the rope around its neck.
Fearing some danger, she went inside and carried her rifle.
The grasslands are covered in snow now, making it difficult for carnivores to hunt, so she has to carry a gun just in case.
"Little Flower, Little Yellow Dog, you two follow behind the car."
Lu Fangfang sat on the sled and waved to Xiuxiu, inviting her to sit next to her.
"Little wild donkey, head east, let's go to Team Six first."
Lu Fangfang patted the donkey's rump, and the little wild donkey slowly pulled it up.
She was a little worried about Old Xu's mud-brick house and wanted to go and take a look. With such heavy snow falling all night, she hoped nothing bad had happened.
"Oh...ah..."
The little wild donkey was a little unaccustomed to pulling the sled at first, but it gradually got used to it.
It's not heavy to pull the sled, but the snow is too thick, making it inconvenient for it to run.
"Meow~"
"Awoo~"
Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox ran on either side of the sled.
They looked around, trying to find traces of pikas.
At the entrance of the farm, Zhao Lanying watched the sled drive away in surprise, "This thing that Xiao Lu made can actually run!"
Watching the two sisters glide by, she felt a little envious. When they returned, she would definitely have to try riding on one herself.
...
"Giddy up!"
"Little wild donkey, run faster."
The two sat on a sled, gliding across the snow-covered grassland.
Lu Fangfang looked around and saw that apart from the birds flying in the sky, there were no other animals on the grassland.
The once bustling grassland suddenly fell silent.
Seeing this scene, she sighed softly.
Beside her, Xiuxiu was quite excited. She sat on the sled, called over the little Tibetan fox, and hugged it to warm her hands.
Soon, the little wild donkey led the two of them to the territory of the sixth team.
Even from a great distance, Lu Fangfang picked up her binoculars and peered toward Old Xu's residence.
"This mud house is really sturdy."
Seeing that Old Xu's dark mud-brick house was still intact and hadn't collapsed under the weight of the snow, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Whoa~"
When they reached the horse pen, she stood up, holding onto the sled, and Xiuxiu quickly helped her up.
"Sister, is this the house where Lao Xu lives? It's so old and dirty."
Xiuxiu frowned, feeling an urge to scrub it clean.
“Old Xu was sent down to the countryside. If the housing is better, he won’t be able to live there, which will be bad for his situation.”
Lu Fangfang shook her head, stepped over the railing, and walked into the courtyard.
Xiuxiu quickly followed her sister.
She looked around and found that the yard was quite clean, and all the snow had been swept away.
There's a snowman standing in the snowdrift on the south side of the yard.
