"Xiuxiu, who taught you how to shaved ice and pick up fish?"
Lu Fangfang was still a little curious, so she held onto the rocks on the shore and slowly walked onto the ice.
"Sis, be careful."
Xiuxiu dropped the pickaxe and rushed over to help her sister.
After thinking for a moment, she picked up the shovel again, scooped up some sand, and sprinkled it on the ice so that her sister wouldn't be so slippery.
"A couple of days ago, when I was walking on the ice, I found some fish frozen under the ice. I thought since they were frozen, they couldn't have gone bad, so I dug them out and ate them."
Lu Fangfang gave Xiuxiu a thumbs up.
She slowly walked to the ice pit that Xiuxiu had dug, and looked closely. She found that all the water in the river had frozen into ice, and there was nothing underneath the ice.
At this moment, Tie Dan and the other children were lying down picking up small fish and shrimp.
This place must be the deep water area of the river. After winter sets in, other places freeze over, and all the small fish and shrimp gather here. There seem to be quite a lot of them.
"Sis, is it this cold every year? Won't the fish and shrimp in the river be extinct next year?"
Xiuxiu looked into the pit, still somewhat worried.
"It's alright, there's a big lake upstream, it's impossible for it to be completely frozen, and there are also deep places downstream."
Lu Fangfang wasn't worried about the fish in the river going extinct, as long as the river water wasn't polluted.
There might still be fish eggs in the soil under the ice. When the ice melts next spring, the fish will come out again.
She bent down and forcefully pried out a palm-sized fish from under Tie Dan's feet.
"Oh...ah..."
Seeing this, the little wild donkey immediately abandoned Daya and moved closer to her.
The donkey kept sniffing, and it went into Lu Fangfang's hand.
"Smack."
"You big glutton, didn't I tell you you can't eat fish?"
Lu Fangfang slapped it, pushing the donkey's head aside.
Holding the small fish, she climbed out of the pit.
Just as she was about to go ashore, she remembered something and turned back, saying, "Tie Dan, Daniu, and you little rascals, be careful when you're picking up the fish, don't hurt yourselves."
"Oh, and don't get your clothes dirty, or you'll be in for a surprise when you get home."
"Okay, Auntie."
"Auntie, you should hurry up and go, the ice is so slippery."
"That's right, that's right."
The little ones became more and more excited as they picked up the items, urging Lu Fangfang to leave.
"Xiuxiu, keep an eye on them."
Lu Fangfang gave Xiuxiu another instruction before heading to the breeding farm.
Beside it, the little wild donkey glanced at Lu Fangfang as she walked away, then looked back at the little ones. It hesitated for a moment, then wagged its tail and came closer to the children.
Back at the fish farm, Lu Fangfang washed the small fish with clean water, then took an enamel basin and went out again.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
In the river, Xiuxiu was still digging through the ice with a pickaxe.
"Da Ya, help your aunt pick some small shrimp."
Lu Fangfang was also craving some river delicacies, but since the small fish had too many bones, she thought of getting some river shrimp to eat.
When Daya got closer, she handed her the enamel basin, saying, "Daya, keep an eye on it, don't let the donkey eat it."
"Oh...ah..."
The little wild donkey looked at Lu Fangfang with some displeasure.
"It's so cold outside, you should eat less so you don't get a cold stomach."
Lu Fangfang glared at the little wild donkey with annoyance, then went to the yard of the breeding farm and brought out some chopped firewood.
There's still some snow on the grassland, so there's no fear of it burning elsewhere.
She gathered the dry firewood and then lit it.
She found a piece of wood, stuck the small fish on it, and started roasting them in front of the fire.
"Little Flower, Little Yellow Dog, do you two want to roast yours over a fire?"
Little Flower was holding the little fish and continued licking it. The surface of the little fish was licked so soft that the flesh inside was exposed.
It didn't move when it heard Lu Fangfang's words.
The little Tibetan fox is no match for it; it can't lick the flesh clean.
It immediately ran over and placed the small fish next to Lu Fangfang.
Lu Fangfang found another branch and stuck the little Tibetan fox's fish on it as well.
Before long, the aroma of grilled fish wafted from her two branches.
In the river, the little ones, seeing this, forgot all about picking up fish and rushed over with the biggest ones.
They imitated Lu Fangfang, sticking fish on skewers and roasting them in the fire.
"There's water in the farm, you can wash up before you bake."
"Auntie, no need, no need, the river is clean."
"Yes, the fish are all frozen and can't be washed."
"Look how lazy you guys are."
Lu Fangfang shook her head. She thought it was about time, so she took a branch, rubbed it in the snow, and then threw it to the little Tibetan fox.
She blew on the remaining fish, broke off a piece, and tasted it.
The water in this river is mostly melted snow from the mountains, so the water quality is very good. Even the fish and shrimp in it are of good quality. Her grilled fish didn't have any seasoning, so it didn't taste fishy at all; instead, it was slightly sweet.
There were too many fish bones, so she carefully removed them and ate another piece.
"Oh...ah..."
The little wild donkey wagged its tail and slowly walked up to Lu Fangfang.
Looking at the grilled fish on the tree branch, a few drops of saliva dripped from the corner of its mouth.
"It has thorns, you can't eat it."
"Oh...ah..."
The little wild donkey lowered its head and rubbed against Lu Fangfang's arm, as if it were being affectionate.
"Why are you so greedy?"
Lu Fangfang pushed the donkey's head away forcefully, then carefully removed the fish bones.
After a while, she took a bite of the clean fish meat, and then helplessly stuffed the rest into the donkey's mouth.
