Chapter 58 Drama Queen

"Arts Troupe..."

In the early hours of the morning, Lu Fangfang lay in bed, murmuring unconsciously.

She had a dream in which she passed the audition for the performing arts troupe and became a solo singer in the troupe.

Her first performance was a great success, earning her a standing ovation.

Just as she was about to make a big splash in the performing arts troupe, Zhuang Mingcheng suddenly appeared out of nowhere, hugged her, and kissed her passionately. Then...

Then the dream couldn't continue; things you haven't experienced, you can't even dream about.

Lu Fangfang lay in bed, and opened her eyes groggily.

"Um?"

She immediately closed her eyes, but couldn't fall asleep, let alone continue her dream.

After a while, she got up angrily.

She picked up the watch next to her pillow, checked the time, and found that it was already past seven o'clock.

"Why did you sleep for so long?"

Lu Fangfang was quite surprised. She had gone to bed before eight o'clock last night, and this sleep was really long.

She reached up and pinched the space between her eyebrows; she had a slight headache.

After getting up and washing up, she felt listless and lacked energy.

Lu Fangfang knew that it must be because she was too tired yesterday.

She heated up the leftover porridge from last night, and with a steamed bun in hand, she forced herself to eat a little more.

Today, Lu Fangfang finished her meal, took a kitchen knife, and started cutting the potatoes from her burlap sack along the sprouts.

She needed to plant five rows of potatoes, so she cut up extra potato chunks and put them all in a bag.

After finishing her work, she took out the kettle that Sister Shufen had given her yesterday, added some white sugar, and then filled it with hot water.

She hung the water bottle around her neck, carried potato chunks on her back, and shouldered a hoe and a shovel, then went to the wasteland on the riverbank.

Wang Shufen was spreading horse manure in the field at that moment.

Seeing Lu Fangfang arrive, she stopped and said, "Little sister, when you plant the potatoes later, also sprinkle some horse manure on them, otherwise the potatoes won't grow big."

"Also, gather some dry grass, burn some wood ash, coat the potato chunks with the wood ash, and then plant them. Don't water them when you plant them, otherwise they will easily rot."

"Okay, I'll get started right away. Sister Shufen, are you thirsty? I brought some sugar water."

Lu Fangfang shook the water bottle around her neck.

"I just arrived, I'm not thirsty," Wang Shufen said with a smile, waving her hand.

Lu Fangfang went to her field with regret.

She put down what she was carrying, emptied the potato chunks from the sack, and then went to the nearby wasteland to gather hay.

She burned a pile of wood ash, and when the ash cooled down, she took potato chunks and dipped them all in it.

The ridges in the field had already been made. Lu Fangfang carried a hoe, dug a furrow in the middle of the ridge, and then took potato pieces and placed them one by one, about thirty centimeters apart, with the sprouts facing upwards.

Finally, she shoveled horse manure and sprinkled it into the middle of the potato chunks.

By the time we finished, it was almost ten o'clock.

"Um?"

Lu Fangfang looked up and wiped her sweat, then saw Yang Yufeng and her son.

The two men pinched their noses and quickly ran to the place where they had caught fish the day before.

Lu Fangfang was delighted; she had just been planning to go find Yang Yufeng, but she hadn't expected to run into her here.

She glanced down at the shovel, which was still covered in large amounts of horse manure, and then picked it up and walked over.

"Hey girl, help me hold the rope eye closed, I'll tie it tight so the fish won't escape."

Yang Yufeng and her mother were busy with their work and ignored Lu Fangfang when she came over.

"Cough cough..."

Lu Fangfang held up an iron shovel and waved it in front of Yang Yufeng.

Only when the man saw the horse manure on top did she pretend to reach into the water to wash the shovel.

As expected, Yang Yufeng immediately became agitated. She jumped to her feet and shouted, "Lu Fangfang, stop! Who are you trying to disgust?"

"What's wrong?"

"Pah! What else?"

Yang Yufeng was so angry she almost twisted her nose. She pointed at the shovel and said, "There's so much manure on this. If you spill it into the water, how am I supposed to catch fish?"

"I thought you didn't care about these things."

Lu Fangfang shook her head and put the shovel away. "Yesterday, Sister Shufen washed the manure cart here, and the manure water flowed into the river. I..."

"vomit."

Before Lu Fangfang could finish speaking, Yang Yufeng's face turned pale, and she covered her mouth.

For some reason, she suddenly remembered the fish with its swollen belly from last night...

"It's strange, but the sewage attracted a lot of small fish swimming around, as if they were looking for food. By the way, Sister Yufeng, you caught a lot of fish yesterday, didn't you?"

Lu Fangfang looked at her curiously.

Yang Yufeng could no longer hold back; she bent over and gagged a few times.

"Stop...stop talking."

Yang Yufeng's face scrunched up, and goosebumps appeared on her arms and neck.

Out of sight, out of mind. Actually, it's not a big deal if you eat it, as long as others don't say anything.

"Sister-in-law Yufeng, what's wrong with you? Weren't the little fish you caught yesterday meant for feeding the chickens? Actually, it's fine for the little fish to eat horse manure."

Lu Fangfang looked at Yang Yufeng in surprise, "Huh? Sister-in-law Yufeng, you didn't eat the small fish, did you?"

"vomit!"

"Well, it's actually fine to eat it, as long as you remove the fish's internal organs. The horse manure is in the fish's stomach, so once you wash it clean, you won't actually eat the horse manure."

Lu Fangfang suppressed a laugh and quickly comforted her.

"You...you..."

Yang Yufeng's hand trembled. She pointed at Lu Fangfang and couldn't speak for a long time.

"Ah? Sister-in-law Yufeng, you didn't even remove the fish's innards, did you? This...this..."

Lu Fangfang covered her mouth, pretending to be frightened.

After a while, she quickly comforted her, "Sister-in-law, it's really nothing to eat a little horse manure. Let me tell you, manure is also a medicinal herb; eating it can relieve internal heat."
