She let Zhuang Mingcheng extend his hand and slowly began to peel it.
After a while, Zhuang Mingcheng had a handful of tender white sunflower seeds in his hand.
Compared to roasted ones, raw sunflower seeds look very plump, and you can tell at a glance that they have a lot of moisture.
"Fangfang, are you done yet?"
Zhuang Mingcheng couldn't help but swallow hard. He couldn't even remember how long it had been since he had eaten sunflower seeds; all he could remember was their aroma.
"Almost there, just wait until I finish peeling this last bit."
Lu Fangfang kept peeling the fruit, and she kept swallowing.
After a while, she peeled all the sunflower seeds in her hand, and she didn't waste the remaining sunflower seed shells.
She scooped it up with both hands and presented it to the little stubborn donkey's mouth.
"Oh...ah..."
The little wild donkey's eyes lit up, and it immediately stuck out its tongue, rolling it from her hand into its mouth.
After chewing a few bites, it looked puzzled, as if it were somewhat bewildered.
This doesn't taste as good as what it ate before.
Lu Fangfang was overjoyed. She clapped her hands, turned around, and sat back down.
She took half of the sunflower seeds from her husband's hand and stuffed them all into her mouth.
She chewed it hard and felt instantly satisfied.
Raw sunflower seeds aren't as fragrant as roasted ones, but they have a slightly sweet taste, which makes them quite delicious.
That was so satisfying, so incredibly satisfying!
Beside him, Zhuang Mingcheng didn't eat like his wife; he ate the grains one by one, his face showing great satisfaction.
After a while, seeing that his wife had swallowed, he reached out his hand again.
"You eat it, don't worry about me. I'll peel it again if I want some more."
Lu Fangfang stood up, walked to the rapeseed field and looked at it. Only part of the rapeseed had turned yellow, and she would have to wait a few more days.
Walking into the field, she looked again at the cabbages and radishes she had planted before.
A few days ago, she reluctantly applied some ammonium bicarbonate fertilizer that Zhuang Mingcheng had brought back to the field, and it worked quite well.
More than a week has passed, and the cabbages and radishes have grown a bit more. They should be ready before winter.
Seeing that the fields were a bit dry, she led her little donkey, hung an iron bucket on it, and started carrying water to the fields.
On the edge of the field, Zhuang Mingcheng finished his meal in a few bites and then got up to help.
"Fangfang, the cabbages and radishes you planted are good. They're growing quite well. After harvesting, they'll be enough for our family to eat in the winter, and we should even have some left over."
"The ammonium bicarbonate fertilizer you brought is really effective; it's a really good product."
The two chatted as they carried water into the field.
The little wild donkey, seeing the green leaves covering the ground, became interested and would occasionally take a bite.
Seeing that the stubborn little donkey was not behaving, Lu Fangfang gave it another beating.
It's getting cold, and there aren't many vegetables left in the field, just some cabbages, radishes, and a few eggplants. Once the frost comes in a few days, even those few eggplants won't survive.
The cabbages and radishes haven't grown properly yet, so we can't let them cause trouble.
The two of them worked for most of the morning, watering all the vegetables in the field.
The radishes in the field were still a bit too dense, so she thinned them out a bit. The radishes that had formed were still small, but the radish leaves could be stir-fried and eaten.
Seeing that it was getting late, Lu Fangfang hooked up the donkey cart, patted the stubborn little donkey, and headed back.
Zhuang Mingcheng followed behind his wife and glanced at the setting sun in the west.
Time really flies these days.
