Chapter 29 The Knitting Group is Established

That night, after dinner, Wei Mo was somewhat agitated and began to probe little by little.

I kept repeating to myself, "I am a child, I am a child, I am a little rascal."

Wei Mo slowly moved his head closer to Li Xiuxiu. Li Xiuxiu found Wei Mo's adorable appearance amusing and simply hugged him.

No one stopped Wei Mo from being unruly. Wei Mo ate another fragrant steamed bun and put his hand on another one.

Li Xiuxiu spoiled Wei Mo like this. After all, Li Xiuxiu thought, what bad intentions could a child have? It's normal for a baby this big to be breastfed, it's just a little embarrassing, but she didn't say anything about it.

Wei Mo slept very well that night, a very good night's sleep.

Early in the morning, Li Xiuxiu's movements as she got up accidentally woke Wei Mo, who was fast asleep. Wei Mo rubbed his eyes and looked at Li Xiuxiu with sleepy eyes.

Good morning, Aunt Xiuxiu.

Perhaps because of last night, Wei Mo's voice sounded exceptionally sweet today.

"It's still early, you should sleep a little longer."

Seeing Wei Mo's obedient appearance, Li Xiuxiu patted him, hoping to coax him back to sleep.

However, somewhat disappointingly, Wei Mo was clearly becoming more and more energetic, staring intently at him, and even sat up to put on his clothes.

Looking at the little boy with his bare bottom exposed, Li Xiuxiu habitually flicked Wei Mo's little brother, and Wei Mo decisively ran away.

The two of them played around and woke up Wei Xiaomin and Wei Xiaohui, who were sleeping on the floor. They started washing their faces and preparing to eat the breakfast that had been made beforehand.

Rice porridge with steamed buns and a few pickled vegetables—simple and easy!

Simple? Are you kidding me? Let's not even talk about rice and steamed buns; how many people are willing to put too much salt in pickled vegetables?!

After dinner, everyone gathered together and started weaving fish baskets. After all, the team leader would be coming over that evening to collect the fish baskets and tally the work points, so everyone worked extra hard today.

However, to everyone's surprise, the captain arrived early in the morning, and everyone greeted him.

"Xiao Mo, when I go to the supply and marketing cooperative later, tell me everything that the weaving group can weave, so that we can supply the cooperative with goods."

"Fish baskets, backpacks, crates, straw hats, straw sandals, straw mats, all of these are fine, Uncle Captain. As long as they need something that can be woven, I can make it."

Wei Mo described to the captain what he could make up, one thing at a time. Everyone around him was focused on Wei Mo, since no one had taught him, so it was a question how he could know so much.

Wang Zhenhua thought it must be the Dragon King who taught him, but he couldn't reveal this, so he made up a reason.

“Wei Mo has loved weaving these things since he was little. Once I took him to town, and he watched others weaving and didn’t want to leave. He stayed there and studied for a long time. When we came back, he studied these things.”

Although Wang Zhenhua's words were not very credible, they did provide some explanation for Wei Mohui's knitting.

The brigade leader, however, thought that this child was smart and could learn things very quickly.

After the team leader left, everyone returned to their work of weaving fish baskets.

Seeing that everyone had learned enough, Wei Mo would occasionally look at the clips and start thinking about how to deal with the items collected today.

Finally, they set their sights on the dandelions their sister had picked earlier, and decided to give them a try.

"We buy 1 jin (500g) of dried dandelion. The buyback price is 25 yuan. Do you buy it?"

Wei Mo's eyes lit up as he directly recycled 3 jin of dandelions, earning 75 yuan. Wei Mo currently has less than 3,000 yuan, and every time he opens the mall, he looks at the interdimensional mall with envy, but unfortunately, he has no money in his pocket!

But there's no rush. After all, I'm still young and have plenty of time. As long as I save slowly, I'll have enough money sooner or later.

The captain, who returned at noon, came straight here and told everyone several pieces of good news.

“Wei Mo, the supply and marketing cooperative agreed. They didn’t agree at first, but I went to the town mayor and he personally stepped in to resolve it. However, they only want the big fish, not the small fish.”

The captain, who had just arrived at Wei Mo's house, saw Wei Mo and immediately spoke to him, his smile particularly evident.

"That works too. At least it can get us some grain for the brigade! Then we can exchange our work points for even more grain."

The captain nodded. Wei Mo was right. In that case, no household would have to worry about food anymore.

“The supply and marketing cooperative accepts all the things you mentioned, but they pay in cash. However, they can give us some receipts.”

Wei Mo was pleasantly surprised to hear this news; it seemed that the village had actually benefited.

"Isn't that even better? With the food we get from trading fish, we can use the tickets we need to buy other things."

In Wei Mo's opinion, this news was better than the previous one!

"By the way, the government has decided that every individual in our village without children can own two fish baskets. You can keep the ones you weave yourself; you won't need to use work points to buy them. Alright, get back to weaving your fish baskets."

As the brigade leader left, several female educated youths cheered, which meant they could also participate in fishing and earn more work points.

Li Xiuxiu and Qian Manman happily hugged Wei Mo back and forth to express their excitement, knowing that this would give them enough work points to go hungry again.

Watching the group of girls making a ruckus, Wei's mother was happy for her younger sisters.

Wei Xiaomin and Wei Xiaohui were still diligently weaving fish baskets. Their mother had said that they could exchange the fish baskets they wove for candy, and they should weave more so that their younger brother could have some when his teeth were healed.

The female educated youths, having calmed down, put Wei Mo down. Looking at Wei Xiaohui, who was still diligently knitting, they felt extremely ashamed.

Now, not only were the other people not as good at knitting as Wei Xiaohui, but they were also not as fast at knitting as she was, so they all sat down and started knitting.

Li Fu arrived at Wei Mo's place not long after.

"Wei Mo, my dad said I have to carry the fish basket, and he'll deduct his own work points from it. Can I carry it?"

Wei Mo naturally had no objection, nodded, and even took two fish baskets for Li Fu from his own woven basket.

Li Fu made two trips each, and did so five times in total. Although the news had not yet been made public, the captain was trying to secure some benefits for himself.

With the fish basket in hand, Li Fu quickly set it up and waited for tomorrow's harvest!

In the afternoon, the brigade held a general meeting, but Wei Mo was not informed. They were more focused on weaving fish baskets, as there might not be enough for everyone to share later.

Seeing that almost everyone in the village had arrived, the old village chief stood up and spoke.

"Everyone, please be quiet. I have some good news to share."

With the old man speaking, everyone gave him face and kept quiet. If it were the brigade leader, he might have had to waste some words, after all, the old village chief's prestige was undeniable.

"The village has set up a weaving group and an aquatic products group. The weaving group is responsible for weaving fish baskets, and the aquatic products group is responsible for transporting the fish catch to the town."

"The fish baskets were woven by Wang Zhenhua, so Wang Zhenhua is now the leader of the weaving group."

The old village chief paused here, wanting to see the villagers' reaction.
