In Daliu Village, by the Qinghe River, a small wooden stick tugs at the hearts of two children.
The small wooden strips trembled slightly, then suddenly sank into the water.
Wei Mo quickly lifted the wooden pole, feeling a powerful force in his hand.
"Come help, pull it back."
"Here I am, here I am."
Li Fu, who was standing next to Wei Mo, hurriedly stood up and, together with Wei Mo, grabbed the fishing rod and pulled it backward.
Because the fishing rod lacked flexibility, the fish in the water struggled desperately, jumping out of the water every now and then.
Wei Mo ignored all of this and, together with Li Fu, dragged the big fish ashore.
The large fish, still exhausted, was jumping around on the shore. Wei Mo handed the fishing rod to Li Fu, rushed over to the fish, and kicked it away from the shore with both feet.
Seeing that the big fish had been completely brought ashore, Li Fu put down his fishing rod and rushed over to help.
"Wei Mo, this fish is huge!"
"Come quick and help! Be careful it doesn't get away."
Wei Mo sat directly on the body of the big fish, mainly because the body was too small and it was difficult to grab it with his hands.
Working together, Wei Mo threaded the fishing line into the fish's mouth.
Then they started to remove the hook. The big fish, back in the water, thrashed about, but it couldn't break free of the fishing line.
The two children were covered in mud and water, but they were laughing very happily.
The fishhook, now rebaited, was thrown back into the water.
"Wei Mo, you're amazing! Can I catch some too?"
Li Fu's eyes were filled with envy; he had never seen such a large fish before.
"Be careful not to fall into the water, okay?"
Li Fu nodded, happily took the wooden pole Wei Mo handed him, and stared intently at the small wooden strip in the water.
Wei Mo was very disappointed. This small body was still too useless; he couldn't even catch a fish.
They fished for several hours and had a great catch.
There were seven crucian carp, each about the size of a palm, weighing approximately one or two ounces each.
There are two carp, each weighing about 3 or 4 pounds.
Wei Mo was about to pack up and go home, but Li Fu was reluctant to leave.
"Here are the two crucian carp for you. Take them back quickly, or they'll die. Come to my house again this afternoon, and I'll take you out to play again!"
Li Fu's eyes lit up when he got the two small crucian carp. He quickly put the fish in his clothes and ran home, not forgetting to turn back and tell Wei Mo.
"Thanks! I'll come to your house after dinner."
After Li Fu left, Wei Mo put the fish into his backpack; it was too heavy for him to carry.
I tried selling carp.
"Sold the carp successfully, earned 32 gold coins."
Wei Mo's eyes lit up. He sold the remaining carp as well.
"Sold the carp successfully, earned 36 gold coins."
Wei Mo earned 68 gold coins that morning, and then tried selling the crucian carp. If that didn't work, he would buy some food from the system at noon.
"Sale failed because the number of items sold exceeded the daily limit."
"Note: You can sell an item 3 times per day and the same item 3 times per week."
Wei Mo pondered the system's words, which meant that he could only sell fish once this week, and he only had one chance left today.
Although there are restrictions, Wei Mo is still satisfied, at least he doesn't have to eat vegetable dumplings for lunch today.
And I also have an extra 68 gold coins, which means I can spend more time browsing the shop.
Wei Mo carried five small crucian carp and headed home.
Just as we entered the village, we were greeted by Old Lady Liu. Old Lady Liu was a notorious shrew in the village, not only shrewish towards outsiders but also difficult towards her own family.
The two sons had argued about dividing the family property countless times, but the old hag threatened to kill herself to stop them. The daughter-in-law was tormented beyond recognition, and the grandchildren would avoid her whenever they saw her.
He never goes to work and just goes to anyone's house to freeload when he sees something delicious.
What is food in this era? It's life. Once or twice is fine, but too much of it will make people tired of it.
What can we do? We're all from the same village, we can't make things too ugly.
Grandma Liu's eyes lit up when she saw Wei Mo holding the crucian carp. "Look, isn't this his lunch delivery?"
"Xiao Mo, quickly throw away the fish you're holding. If you eat it, you'll grow scales and turn into a monster."
Wei Mo rolled his eyes. What's the point of lying to a child at his age?
Wei Mo ignored her and continued walking home.
However, Old Lady Liu was notoriously difficult to deal with. Seeing that Wei Mo remained unmoved, she followed him and came up with other wicked ideas.
"How can you not know how to respect the elderly and care for the young? You won't listen to me. Believe me or not, I'll go to the police and have you arrested. This is speculation and profiteering, which is a crime and you'll be in jail. Quickly throw away the fish."
Wei Mo sneered; when deception failed, he resorted to threats.
As Grandma Liu said, speculation is a crime, which is true, but no one would define it as speculation just because they caught a few small fish.
Even if this matter goes up to the village level, it won't matter. What kid doesn't catch frogs or steal bird eggs?
“My dad went to join the army, and my family is a military dependent. If you follow me, I will go to the military support office and report you for threatening a military dependent.”
Wei Mo really didn't want to argue with the old hag, so he made a harsh statement and glared at her fiercely.
"You, you, you dare! When did I threaten you? I was only doing this for your own good, and you don't appreciate my kindness."
After saying that, Old Lady Liu resorted to her usual tactic, sitting on the ground and crying and making a scene, muttering, "Oh God, good people are being bullied!"
Every time this happens, the villagers, to save face, let the old shrew get her way. Now, the old shrew is already fantasizing about how to eat the crucian carp.
What does Wei Mo care about saving face? Does a five-year-old child need to save face? Let him cry and make a fuss, Wei Mo will just leave.
The old hag wanted to follow Wei Mo, but Wei Mo turned around and said to her.
"You really want to go to the Military Support Office?"
Seeing that Wei Mo was determined not to give it to him, he uttered a harsh remark.
"You little brat! Just you wait!"
Watching Old Lady Liu turn and leave, Wei Mo thought to himself, "I'll have to wait. Once I've united all the kids in the village, I'll make you pay!"
As Wei Mo was about to get home, he ran into a bunch of greenhorns who were eyeing the crucian carp in his hand with envy.
Among the children, Shan Zhenhai, who was four years older and a head taller than Wei Mo, grabbed Wei Mo's little arm.
"Wei Mo, how did you catch those fish? Take me with you next time!"
"Yeah, Wei Mo, where did you get this? Take me with you."
"I want to go too."
A bunch of kids chimed in, making Wei Mo's head ache. However, he was thinking about how to subdue these kids and get revenge on the old hag.
"Come find me tomorrow morning, and I'll take you to catch it. But let me make this clear first: you have to listen to me! Otherwise, I won't take you."
"Okay, I'll come find you first thing tomorrow morning." Shan Zhenhai left with his younger brother Shan Zhenjiang.
Several little girls in the doll group also spoke to Wei Mo.
"Wei Mo, can we go too? I also want to catch fish for my family to eat."
Wei Mo felt a warmth in his heart upon hearing this, and couldn't help but think of Wei Xiaomin and Wei Xiaohui, his two older sisters who were always like this, always thinking of him. Wei Mo nodded.
"Okay, come early tomorrow. If you're late, I won't wait for you."
The little girls smiled broadly and ran off quickly.
There were also a few smaller rascals who were eyeing Wei Mo's crucian carp with longing. They followed closely behind Wei Mo until he went home, and then reluctantly left.
