Chapter 22 The Fish Basket That Was Deliberately Exposed

Happy times always pass too quickly. The group chatted and learned to weave baskets, and time flew by. The most exciting part was watching the baskets. Whenever Wei Mo asked for help, Li Xiuxiu would always be the first to run ahead.

Yu Mo and Li Xiuxiu's playful antics made him very happy, even though he was bullied badly. That was because he was too naughty. As for the others, they were really kind to him.

Especially Qian Manman. Although Wei Mo wasn't used to being held in someone's arms and having his face pressed against theirs, it was still a sign of affection.

As dusk settled, Qian Manman went inside to cook. Tomorrow, there wouldn't be many people working here anymore, as everyone would be going to their jobs. Li Xiuxiu and the others looked reluctant to leave, but life had to go on, so what could they do?

Especially Wang Zhenhua, who has never had any friends before, is experiencing this level of popularity for the first time, especially since the girls are around her age. She doesn't want to be separated from them. What should she do?

Wang Zhenhua, who was racking his brains for a solution, looked at his son. Perhaps he could ask his son to ask the Dragon King for help, or even just to give him some advice!

"Son, come with me for a moment."

When Wei Mo heard Wang Zhenhua call his name, he looked puzzled, but he still stood up and walked to the side with his mother.

"Xiao Mo, could you please ask the Dragon King to do something to stop them from leaving? I'm begging you, okay?"

Wang Zhenhua really enjoys these past two days and doesn't want to feel as lonely and isolated as before.

Wei Mo frowned slightly, looking thoughtful as he pondered a solution. He found his interactions with the others quite pleasant, and having a few companions made life much more enjoyable. Most importantly, he could take advantage of the situation without getting beaten up!

There are ways, but I can't do it myself, and I don't know if Wei's mom can do it well. Let Wei's mom give it a try.

"Mom, you can ask the brigade leader if we can set up a village weaving group to weave baskets, hampers, and other similar items and sell them to the supply and marketing cooperative under the brigade's name. We can calculate work points based on the number of finished products. That way, you and your aunts won't have to work. Besides, this kind of work is usually done by girls, so we can legitimately invite them to weave in the new house."

“There isn’t much work in the brigade right now. We can’t get food by giving work points. This way, we can increase the value of our work points and at least get some money to spend at the end of the year.”

"As for why you don't want them to leave, you can invite them to our new home after the new house is built. Right now, as long as the brigade leader agrees, they can stay at our home to learn weaving techniques."

Wei's mother was very tempted by what she heard. Her son was always so resourceful; no matter if it worked or not, they had to give it a try.

He picked up Wei Mo, looked at his son who looked like a little adult, and affectionately patted his head before running off to discuss things with Li Xiuxiu and the others.

At that time, not many people were willing to work, but if they didn't work, they wouldn't get work points, and without work points, they couldn't get food. If they could earn work points without being exposed to the wind and sun outside, wouldn't they be scrambling to get them?

Just as Wei Mo predicted, Li Xiuxiu and the others nodded frantically in agreement. The violent woman, being impatient, quickly ran to find the captain, wanting him to come here for a proper discussion. Before leaving, she didn't forget to tease Wei Mo, pinching his cheek.

With the arrival of the brigade leader, some questions were raised about whether this was feasible, as it could be considered a village-run factory! Although there were only a few people involved, it was the first step the village had taken.

Seeing that the captain remained silent, the group became anxious. Li Xiuxiu pulled Wei Mo over directly. Although Wei Mo did not want to take the lead, seeing that things might not work out and the captain had not agreed, they had no choice but to sell Wei Mo out.

Having been dragged along, Wei Mo could only do his best to help a few people.

"Captain, please tell us if there are any problems so we can resolve them."

Although Wei Mo is not old, he is quite resourceful, especially when it comes to the old shrew's matter. He managed to get her arrested!

"Giving it a try is fine, but I'm afraid the other people in the village won't agree. Besides, they also want to join the weaving group. Should we agree or disagree?"

"Captain, come with me, I'll show you some great fishing gear I use!"

Wei Mo grabbed Li Dazhuang's leg, wanting to show him the power of the fish basket! This thing would be exposed sooner or later, so it was better to take it out and exchange it for some benefits that would be good for his mother.

Moreover, there are now regulations that allow children under the age of 9 to fish (by making their own fish baskets). If they can exchange the fish baskets for work points, and then everyone in the village lets their children use the baskets to fish, then everyone can benefit.

Who wouldn't agree if there's a benefit involved? But there's another problem: this knitting kit has to be in Mom's hands.

Li Dazhuang might not be very interested in other things, but when it comes to fishing, probably no one in the whole village can compare to Wei Mo. The brigade leader also became interested and followed behind Wei Mo.

Li Xiuxiu came over and hugged Wei Mo tightly, somewhat annoyed that his legs were too slow to walk.

"Are we going to that dilapidated temple?"

Upon hearing Li Xiuxiu's question, Wei Mo nodded, and the violent woman quickly headed towards the dilapidated temple!

The captain followed behind the others until they reached the riverbank, where Wei Mo struggled to get down to the ground.

Picking up the hidden fishing line, they pulled the fish basket out. The fishing line was too thin and hurt their hands, so the captain borrowed the fishing line and quickly pulled the fish basket out of the water.

It's full of fish!

One carp, seven or eight palm-sized crucian carp, four catfish, one black carp, and a small pile of other small fish.

"So many?"

The captain was somewhat incredulous. His son couldn't catch much fish in a day, not even as much as Wei Mo could catch with a single fish basket. The best part was that with a fish basket, he didn't have to stay by the river!

Since the decision had already been made to expose themselves, there was no fear of exposing even more. Wei Mo did not answer the captain's question, but continued walking towards the next one.

As the fish baskets were pulled out of the water one by one, everyone except Wei Ma was stunned, but they still couldn't figure out what was going on.

"This, this must weigh over 100 pounds!"

There were 13 fish baskets in total, some with more fish and some with less, but they weighed about 100 jin (50 catties) in total!

"Xiao Mo, what do you mean?"

The captain still looked at Wei Mo with suspicion. Shouldn't this kind of thing be done quietly? Why did he tell him? What was his purpose? Such a young kid was so capable. No wonder Li Fu was willing to be with him.

"The village set up a weaving group, and my mother became the group leader. She taught everyone how to weave fish baskets. Then, people my age in the village could use fish baskets to catch fish. Work points are only worth a few, but this is a continuous supply of fish. However, you can only join the weaving group if my mother agrees. Otherwise, forget it."

"When we have enough fish, our village can set up a group to sell them at the supply and marketing cooperative!"

The captain's eyes lit up as Wei Mo spoke. He greeted the others and ran toward the brigade, not forgetting to turn back and give Wang Zhenhua a few instructions.

"From now on, just tell me your ideas, and you guys go back and wait for my news."

From this point of view, the brigade leader is a rare good person.
