Chapter 2 Fishing

Wang Zhenhua looked at Wei Mo's wet clothes and was afraid that Wei Mo would catch a cold and get sick.

"Xiao Mo, take off your clothes, I'll go wash them for you."

Wei Mo was stunned on the spot. This was the only set of clothes Wei Mo had; all he had left were winter clothes.

Silently repeating to myself, "I'm five years old, I'm five years old," I took off my shorts and vest and covered my penis with my hand.

The eldest and second eldest sisters skillfully took a cloth and wiped Wei Mo's body.

"Little brother, don't move!"

When the two older sisters saw Wei Mo's little penis, they would pinch it with their hands.

"No, don't pull!"

Wei Mo even had the urge to crawl into a rat hole. Over thirty years of memories! The land beneath his feet had been dug out by Wei Mo into a three-bedroom apartment.

However, Wei Mo truly felt the love and care he received from his two older sisters and mother.

For dinner, Wang Zhenhua made vegetable dumplings, two for each person. They tasted a bit bitter, but there was nothing else!

Wei Xiaohui, however, couldn't bear to eat it and left half of it, intending to save it for later. Wei Mo then asked her about it.

"Sister, why aren't you eating?"

"You can save it for later if you get hungry tonight."

Wei Mo was deeply moved by Wei Xiaohui's words. How fortunate he was to have such a mother and sister. Wei Mo happily snuggled into bed to sleep.

In the middle of the night, Wei Mo was indeed woken up by hunger, but he did not make a sound. Instead, he endured the hunger and forced himself to fall back asleep.

Wild vegetable dumplings have almost no nutritional value, and since there are so few of them, they are barely enough to fill you up.

The next morning, Wei's mother got up to cook. Looking at the vegetable dumplings on the table, Wei Mo ate them with relish, not even tasting the bitterness.

I'm starving!

Wei Mo felt a little embarrassed after eating three vegetable dumplings, since only his mother ate three dumplings, which meant someone would have to eat less.

"Um, I was so hungry, I forgot!"

"It's alright, little brother, your second sister and I will each have half of the rest!"

After Wei Xiaohui finished speaking, she divided the vegetable ball in half, giving one half to her and one half to her sister.

Fearing that Wei Mo hadn't eaten enough, she handed him half of what she had left over from yesterday. Wei Mo felt incredibly uncomfortable!

Change is necessary!

After dinner, Wei's mother went to work, but not for normal labor; she went to gather pig feed. Wang Zhenhua was in poor health and even carrying a 5-year-old boy like Wei Mo was difficult.

The whole family relied almost entirely on Wei Guo's salary, which was barely enough to make ends meet.

The two older sisters took baskets to pick wild vegetables, leaving Wei Mo alone at home. The sisters wanted to take Wei Mo with them.

"Little brother, are you going to dig for wild vegetables with your sister?"

Wei Mo shook his head and said to Wei Xiaohui in front of him.

"I'm not going, big sister, I'm a little tired."

With his two older sisters gone, Wei Mo's stomach started growling. He had to change the situation, at least he had to soothe his stomach.

Yu Mo was searching his memory, looking for a place where he could obtain some resources.

As for wild vegetables? The neighborhood is ravaged by little kids and old ladies every day, so how could there be any left over?

We have the system, but even the most skilled cook can't make a meal without ingredients!

Just as Wei Mo was at his wit's end, Tong Tong's voice rang out.

"Congratulations, host, you have received a newbie gift pack of 5 gold coins (yuan)."

Wei Mo quickly checked the panel, which only showed a balance of five gold coins; that was all!

Wei Mo comforted himself, thinking that something was better than nothing!

Then I prepared to buy items in the trading system.

Five gold coins are the system's currency and cannot be withdrawn. Wei Mo is truly exhausted by the question of what five gold coins can buy in the future.

A bucket of Uni-President instant noodles! It costs 5 gold coins, I can only look at it with envy!

Ten No. 12 Ise-ni hooks with leader lines cost 2 gold coins each! (A total of 20 hooks with No. 6 leader lines!)

With only 3 gold coins left, Wei Mo could only buy a 100-meter roll of trashy main quest #12.

Wei Mo doesn't care about good or bad, as long as it's thick, sturdy, and cheap!

As for sensitivity and floats, Wei Mo completely abandoned them.

The money is too little; it's simply not enough.

You'll also need bait and a fishing rod!

Fishing rods are made using a rod holder. (A wooden rod used for climbing bean vines.)

The bait was earthworms. Wei Mo dug around in the yard for a while and found a lot of them. There was no pesticide residue, and these things were everywhere.

Wei Mo found a jar at home with bright red earthworms, put them in it, and then sprinkled some soil on top.

We took everything and headed towards the place where Wei Mo had been flooded yesterday.

The village is quiet now; almost everyone has gone to work, leaving only some children and the elderly behind.

Wei Mo was walking on the dirt road when he came towards him Li Fu, the 7-year-old third son of the brigade leader Li Jianjun.

"Mo Zi, go make some firecrackers."

(Make a clay bowl shape out of mud, then smash it hard on the ground, making a "smack" sound. Then compensate with mud according to the damaged area.)

Wei Mo shook his head, looking at Li Fu, who was much stronger than him.

"I'm going fishing, it's so much fun, and you can even eat the fish."

Li Fu's eyes lit up when he heard this. The old village chief loved to fish, but he never took him along.

"Can I go? If you let me go, I'll bring you some steamed buns next time."

Wei Mo pretended to be reluctant, but he was actually very happy. With Wei Mo's small body, it was questionable whether he could even pull a big fish. With Li Fu's addition, it was simply fantastic.

"Alright then, but you have to listen to me and go to the dilapidated temple in the west."

Li Fu was, after all, just a child. He was easily fooled by Wei Mo into helping Wei Mo carry things, and he was quite happy about it!

Wei Mo led Li Fu to a riverbank with a wide view. There was a dilapidated temple next to it, which the old people said used to enshrine the Dragon King.

Wei Mo found a long, narrow stone nearby to use as a sinker, tied a dry wooden stick to the fishing line about 1 meter high, and Yu Mo skillfully finished making the fishing rod.

After baiting the hook, I kept my eyes fixed on the floating wooden bar.

Because it was too rudimentary, the wooden planks were not erected, but simply lay on the water's surface.

Wei Mo slowly dragged the fishing rod backward, and the wooden stick slowly stood up, which was met with cheers from Li Fu.

"Wei Mo, the wooden strip is moving, hurry up."

Wei Mo stopped Li Fu from stepping forward.

"Stop arguing, or I won't take you with me anymore. Go play by yourself."

Li Fu quickly covered his mouth with his small, dark hands.

The two men stared intently at the water's surface. After a short while, the wooden plank moved slightly, and small ripples appeared on the calm river.

Wei Mo stared intently at the wooden strip, his hand gripping the fishing rod.

Seeing the wooden stick float upwards, Wei Mo quickly lifted the rod and pulled a palm-sized crucian carp ashore.

Li Fu's eyes widened, and he quickly stepped forward, trying to catch the fish.

"Get out of the way, don't grab me."

Li Fu stopped his hand from grabbing the fish and looked at Wei Mo.

"Mo Zi, fish! Catch them quickly!"

Wei Mo lifted the fishing rod, and the crucian carp was brought to his feet. He grabbed the crucian carp with one hand and then removed the hook.

He looked exceptionally skilled; after baiting the hook with an earthworm, he cast the bait into the water once more.

Then Wei Mo took out a piece of fishing line, threaded it through the crucian carp's mouth and out through its gills, fixed the two ends of the line to a small wooden stick, and stuck it on the bank.

The crucian carp can only struggle in the water, but it cannot escape the shackles of the fishing line in its mouth.

Li Fu's eyes lit up; he had learned something!

Wei Mo returned to his original position and stared intently at the small wooden strip that had stood upright in the water.

Although fishing requires quiet, with Li Fu around, it's anything but peaceful; he's always giving random, inappropriate instructions.

"If you still want to see it, you'd better behave, or I won't bring you next time, hmph."

"Wei Mo, don't worry, I promise I won't do it again."

Hearing Li Fu's words, Wei Mo nodded.

Wei Mo himself didn't realize that he was now showing a hint of the expression a child should have.

Perhaps this is what it means to have a childlike heart.

The two children by the river continued to stare intently at the small wooden stick in the water.
