Chapter 2

"Stop!" The two men ran after him.

Pei Manning struggled to move forward, trying to call for help, but there was no one around on this official road, and his gun had obviously been bought, so his efforts were in vain.

She put her hand over her chest and felt a hard object. It was the gourd jade pendant tied around her neck. She wanted to hide inside the pendant, but the pendant didn't know what was going on and opened.

Pei Manning had never felt so hopeless and helpless. Her chest ached as if it was about to explode, her breathing became more and more rapid, and her legs seemed to have no feeling and could not move desperately.

Even so, she was soon caught up by the two men.

Looking at the surging river in front of her, and then at the two men with sharp chins and lustful eyes, Pei Manning held back her tears and felt nauseous.

The two men pressed on: "Run, you bastard, where can you run to?"

"Are you really good at running? Hey, run one more for Master Wu to see."

"If you have any problem, just run to the other side!"

"Okay, this guy is dumb, just tie him up and take him back."

Pei Manning's eyes were filled with tears as she stared at the two men warily. She retreated step by step, and finally with a determined look, she turned around and jumped directly into the rolling waves. With a wave of spray, her slender figure disappeared into the water.

The two men were stunned for a moment, then they stepped forward to take a look. They didn't expect that the girl would actually dare to jump into the river. The river was so turbulent, and she could see human figures as soon as she jumped in. Where could they go to pick her up?

Pei Manning was an excellent swimmer. The water instantly covered her mouth and nose, causing severe pain in her lungs. She could only struggle in the water with her eyes closed, trying to get some air. However, the more she struggled, the deeper she sank. She reached out her hands and grabbed around, trying to grab a piece of driftwood.

She didn't know how long it had been, but when she was exhausted and about to despair, she suddenly heard a strange and hearty voice from a distance: "Brother Chen, I knew you were taking a shower here... Hey, hey, hey? Oh my God! Brother Chen, what's moving next to you?!"

Pei Manning struggled even harder.

Help!

She wanted to scream, but a drowning person cannot open his mouth to call for help in the water.

The water rippled in circles, and then she felt something approaching her. An arm was across her chest, passed under her armpits, and lifted her up in an instant.

With her back against a broad, strong chest, Pei Manning clung to the bare, firm arm in front of her chest as if she were grabbing a life-saving straw.

She felt the person behind her stiffen for a moment, but taking all that into consideration, she tilted her head back to the surface to breathe, and consciously kicked her legs in the water, trying to lift her neck above the surface.

"Don't move!" A deep, magnetic voice sounded from behind, very low.

When she was dragged ashore, Pei Manning coughed violently and vomited the water in her stomach. She looked around and was shocked. How could it be dark in just half a cup of tea since she fell into the water?

The moon was hanging in the sky, and its soft moonlight was like a silvery gauze, enveloping the surrounding mountains, lakes, and forests...

When she jumped, her body was hollow, and there was a turbulent river around her, but there was such a calm pond.

Pei Manning was still in shock and confusion when she heard a slightly puzzled male voice behind her: "Hey? Comrade, how do you feel now?"

His pronunciation is a bit strange, maybe it's the Dangdong accent?

Pei Manning was a little scared. After all, she was a powerless woman. What if she met two strange men in the wilderness and one of them had evil thoughts about her?

Even though they had just rescued her, Pei Manning did not dare to completely relax her vigilance.

She was dripping with water, sitting on the messy grass, turning her head stiffly and looking over with some caution.

A moon hung on the branches, looking eerie and spooky, and there were two tall, dark figures, their shadows lengthened by the moonlight.

Looking up, one could see that they were both very tall, standing straight like black trees. Although one could not see their faces clearly, judging by their voices, they were both young men.

In the quiet moonlight, she saw the taller man among them. He was wearing a pair of trousers and a shirt, which he quickly put on. His muscular upper body was naked, and his shoulders and arms were broad and tight, with muscles rising and falling slowly.

It was a look completely different from the soft figure of a woman, especially the smooth and strong arms with water droplets hanging on them, reflecting the moonlight like morning dew.

The first time Pei Manning saw a man's naked upper body, her cheeks turned red. She immediately looked away in shame and dared not look again.

She nervously clutched her wet clothes, wondering what to do now. If they saved her, and if they were really good people, could she ask them for help?

However, people are always different, and Pei Manning dared not trust people easily.

The experiences during this period have made her like a frightened bird.

What would she do if they had evil intentions in this wilderness? After all, the man was very strong, with arms as hard as iron.

This way, she can be easily moved.

Pei Manning was confused for a moment.

Her hastily looking away look seemed extremely timid and shy to others.

The soft and gentle moonlight fell on her, creating a hazy halo. After her face was rinsed clean in the water, her snow-white and smooth skin and her beautiful eyes and eyebrows outlined in ink were revealed.
