Chapter 130 A Kiss

He looked at Jiang Ci.

Jiang Ci met Zhou Mingli's gaze, took another deep breath, and recounted the day she discovered Liu Ke was Zhou Mingli's secretary.

Zhou Mingli remained silent for a long time before saying, "I was on a business trip abroad that day."

Jiang Ci clicked her tongue in annoyance. "I know, she showed it to me on purpose."

It's so frustrating! Even though we know the truth, we can't teach the culprit a lesson!

Separated by the distance of the world, Jiang Ci's influence is beyond his reach!

This is enough to make Jiang Ci furious!

Jiang Ci took a deep breath and could only put this incredibly frustrating matter out of her mind.

Looking at Zhou Mingli now, he seems much more pleasing to the eye.

Jiang Ci is a reasonable person. Once she has no grudges, she won't drag innocent people into it.

She glanced at Zhou Mingli, who was standing there, walked to the window, and said, "Go change your clothes first."

Zhou Mingli was slightly taken aback. He glanced at Jiang Ci, but she didn't look at him; instead, her gaze was fixed on the heavy rain outside the window.

He looked down at his clothes again.

Although he had just lit a fire, his clothes were all wet and stuck to his body, and his trouser legs were covered in mud, making him look extremely disheveled.

He raised his hand and took off his short-sleeved shirt. The marks on his back from the beating he received before his death were still visible. These days, Zhou Mingli had been doing farm work every day. His body was all lean muscle, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, without an ounce of fat.

Zhou Mingli hastily wiped the rain off his body when he suddenly heard Jiang Ci speaking behind him.

"Zhou Mingli, I think the lesson from Liu Ke's incident is profound enough. We should be more honest with each other in the future."

Her voice sounded normal again.

“Yes, I think so too.” Zhou Mingli exhaled a breath of stale air, his voice low. “Perhaps I shouldn’t have hidden anything in the first place.”

He took off his trousers, his shorts, dried them, put on new ones, and then put on a patched short-sleeved shirt.

Zhou Mingli walked up behind Jiang Ci, looked down at her, and asked, "So what about you, Jiang Ci? Who do you like?"

Jiang Ci turned her head and glanced at him, "I think you want to ask me if I like you, right?"

Zhou Mingli: "Can I ask?"

Jiang Ci leaned against the window, raising her eyebrows. "To be honest, I don't know either."

What kind of answer is that?

Zhou Mingli mimicked her gesture and gently raised his eyebrows.

"Because I've never liked anyone before, I don't know that these kinds of things always require trying."

Zhou Mingli: "How do we try?"

Jiang Ci looked up at him and pondered for a moment.

Zhou Mingli was almost a head taller than her. She used to habitually pull on Zhou Mingli's tie, whether it was thick or thin, it was quite easy for her. She only needed to exert force, and Zhou Mingli would obey her force and bend down to stop at the most suitable position.

Zhou Mingli is no longer wearing a tie.

Jiang Ci had no choice but to say directly, "Lower your head."

Zhou Mingli paused, then obediently lowered his head, placing his hands on the windowsills on either side of Jiang Ci.

The rain was still falling outside the window, pattering and pattering. Some raindrops pattered on the back of Zhou Mingli's hand. He turned his head to look at him. "Your back will get wet from the rain..."

Jiang Ci closed the distance, her soft lips landing on his. Zhou Mingli's words came to an abrupt halt, his dark, quiet eyes suddenly changing, and the muscles in his arms supporting him on either side of her tensed.

Unlike him, who needs an excuse to kiss, Jiang Ci kisses him with complete confidence.

The touch on their lips quickly ended. Zhou Mingli lowered his head, his aura subtly changing. Looking at her, his voice was somewhat hoarse, "Did you figure it out?"

Jiang Ci answered directly, "No."

It felt just like every kiss before.

Feeling happy and relaxed is a good way to relieve stress.

With Liu Ke removed, Jiang Ci did not reject Zhou Mingli.

Zhou Mingli swallowed hard, then said casually, "Wasn't the kiss deep enough?"

Jiang Ci rolled her eyes at Zhou Mingli.

He stepped back, his brows furrowed. "Fine, we'll try again later. There'll be a result eventually."

Zhou Mingli dared not force Jiang Ci to make a decision immediately.

There's still plenty of time ahead. Now that things have been discussed openly, why would he be afraid that Jiang Ci would ignore him again?

The atmosphere between the two became much more relaxed.

Jiang Ci went outside, poured herself a cup of hot water, glanced at the rain outside, and finally remembered her two sons, "Miaomiao and Yangyang are still at Big Brother's house."

"The rain is still too heavy. I'll go pick them up when it gets lighter." Zhou Mingli paused, stood next to her, and asked, "What were you doing up the mountain today?"

"Picking chestnuts." Jiang Ci thought for a moment and decided to be honest. "I was originally planning to pick all the chestnuts and then kill that pheasant to make chestnut stewed chicken."

She also frankly revealed her plans for the day: "Before Sister Yu, Dazhu, and I could even go up the mountain, Aunt Lian called us to help. We didn't work for long before it started raining, so we couldn't go up the mountain. Sister Yu, Dazhu, and I stayed at the brigade leader's house."

Zhou Mingli: “…”

Zhou Mingli remained silent for a long time before saying, "You weren't home. Erzhu said you and his mother went up the mountain."

“Don’t go to dangerous places like the mountains alone in the future, especially during thunderstorms,” Zhou Mingli told her. “It’s very dangerous.”

Jiang Ci: "If it weren't for finding you, would I have gone?"

Zhou Mingli's heart stirred slightly, and his gaze softened as he looked at Jiang Ci, but he still said to her, "I grew up in this kind of environment. I can come back, so don't take risks for me."

After talking for a while, the two finally came to the same conclusion: it's really inconvenient not having a cell phone.

Jiang Ci came up with a solution, took out a piece of paper from the table, and said, “If something comes up and you can’t notify me in time, you can write it down on this paper. I’ll see it when I get home. If I have an emergency, I can do the same.”
