Chapter 134 Meat Pie

Jiang Ci smiled despite the old man's glare and said, "I didn't just put them away randomly; I sorted them according to the English types you wrote on them."

After Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli found out what Cheng Yehan was doing, they secretly studied the relevant formulas for a long time.

It's not that they're bad at studying; it's just that physics is practically incomprehensible if you don't study it.

Zhou Mingli had taken the course in college, while Jiang Ci was completely clueless about it.

She could only take a piece of paper and write a footnote on it, based on the English written on it by the old man.

One, two, three, four...

"Look, I've written footnotes on them." Jiang Ci handed one stack to Cheng Yehan.

Cheng Yehan raised his hand and looked at her suspiciously, then solemnly flipped through his papers.

Half a day later, Cheng Yehan's sky cleared from overcast to partly cloudy. "You know English?"

"I know a little bit," Jiang Ci said modestly.

Cheng Yehan tried to get up, but Jiang Ci came closer and helped him up.

He looked at Jiang Ci and asked, "Then what do you mean by 'fighter aircraft'?"

Jiangci, meaning "fighter jet".

"Even someone with a basic understanding of English knows what a fighter aircraft is." Cheng Yehan straightened his clothes to make himself look less disheveled, but his voice was still weak. "Don't bother with the rest. If you mess it up, I'll have to reorganize it page by page."

Jiang Ci: "..."

She glanced around, speechless. "Isn't this place chaotic enough?"

Cheng Yehan: "That's because I know where each of the ones I wrote down is."

Every genius has their own obsessive-compulsive tendencies, and Jiang Ci respected that. She nodded, took the food out of the hot water, and handed it to him. "Mr. Cheng, you have a fever. This is my lunch. Please eat it quickly, as you will need to take your medicine later."

Cheng Yehan didn't really have an appetite, but seeing that Jiang Ci had already handed him the food, he couldn't bring himself to refuse.

He silently took it and ate it.

Jiang Ci stopped talking and stood aside waiting for him to finish eating.

Cheng Yehan had clearly not been in contact with outsiders for a long time. He glanced at Jiang Ci and slowly said while eating, "There is a piece of paper on the table that is entirely in English. Try to translate it."

Jiang Ci looked around, picked up the paper, and quickly skimmed through it.

Even if there are obscure and difficult-to-understand English words, Jiang Ci can still explain them according to their general meaning.

She only read the first paragraph, and then noticed that Cheng Yehan had stopped eating, seemingly wanting to hear her translate the entire page.

Jiang Ci put the paper down. "Mr. Cheng, is this your handwriting? Do you need me to translate it for you?"

Cheng Yehan's lips twitched slightly, his eyelids drooped, and the wrinkles on his face betrayed his guilt.

"It's nothing, just to see how much you can understand."

It's definitely not because he's an old man and very lonely, and he finally has someone to talk to, so he wants to talk to people more.

Cheng Yehan found an excuse and said, though not entirely confidently, "Your translation is not bad, but some of the technical terms are still too difficult for you."

"If you can help me translate this paper I wrote into Chinese, I..." Cheng Yehan wanted to say he would give her money, but then he remembered that he was penniless and could not spend money as lavishly as he had before he came in.

The old gentleman coughed, feigning composure, and said, "Then I'll have you translate one."

Jiang Ci: "..."

This old man is really interesting.

She almost burst out laughing, and went along with the old man's words, "Go ahead and write it, maybe I can help you translate it later."

Cheng Yehan glanced at her again.

Jiang Ci gestured for the old man to eat quickly. After watching him finish his meal and take his medicine, Jiang Ci said, "One of my... you could say he's an older brother. He's related to your son. Your son sent a telegram not long ago saying he'll be coming to Zhongmo Town soon."

Cheng Yehan's hand holding the teacup trembled slightly, then he quickly gripped it again. When he spoke, his voice was trembling and hoarse, "Is what you said true?"

Jiang Ci blinked but didn't say anything.

Cheng Yehan sensed something from her expression. Cheng Yehan's thin, fleshless face trembled slightly, and her overly pure eyes became a little moist.

He didn't say anything more and just lowered his head to eat.

Since Jiang Ci started bringing him meals, Cheng Yehan has noticed that his meals have become much more regular.

At least it won't be maliciously stuffed with anything of unknown origin.

Cheng Yehan didn't say anything, just quietly ate his meal.

The old man was very well-mannered; he didn't smack his lips while eating, and he rarely even made the sound of his chopsticks hitting the metal lunchbox.

After finishing his meal, he took his medicine, which made him drowsy. Before going to sleep, Cheng Yehan solemnly said to Jiang Ci, "Thank you."

Jiang Ci shook her head. "It's alright, you should go to sleep."

Jiang Ci waited until about 5 p.m.

She left after Cheng Yehan woke up and discussed with Liu San about getting dinner for Cheng Yehan.

Liu San looked her up and down. "Did that old man say anything to you?"

Jiang Ci lied through her teeth, "I didn't dare to talk to him. I watched him eat and take his medicine. He asked me where I was from, but I didn't answer. He probably thought I was a blockhead, so he ignored me and went to sleep soon after."

Liu San knew that Jiang Ci was very timid and wouldn't dare to cause trouble at all, so he wasn't surprised by Jiang Ci's words. "Go ahead and deliver dinner. You can go home after that."

Jiang Ci smiled with delight, "Really?!"

Liu San didn't want to see Jiang Ci so happy, so he quickly waved his hand and said, "Let's go."
