Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli were both quite exhausted yesterday and slept very soundly. When Zhou Mingli woke up this morning, he also had a headache, but his condition was much better than Jiang Ci's. When he noticed that Jiang Ci's face was flushed, he immediately realized something was wrong and took people to the medical station.
The medical station took the temperature of both of them.
very good.
Jiangci's temperature is 38.2 degrees Celsius, while Zhou Mingli's is 37.8 degrees Celsius.
There were still many children and elderly people waiting to see a doctor at the clinic. It was obvious that the sudden drop in temperature yesterday had made the children and elderly with weak immune systems sick.
Jiang Ci received a needle prick in her buttocks, and her entire face turned blue.
Despite taking fever-reducing pills, Jiang Ci remained drowsy, and Zhou Mingli touched her forehead, which was still burning hot.
Zhou Mingli was a little uneasy. After delivering breakfast to Cheng Yehan, he left the child at the Yu family's house and took Jiang Ci to town.
Because of the rain, the bicycle was difficult to ride. Jiang Ci had no intention of speaking. She hugged Zhou Mingli's waist, closed her eyes, and sat drowsily on the back seat. The bicycle was very bumpy, and Jiang Ci fell asleep and woke up repeatedly.
Zhou Mingli squeezed her hand on his waist, found an easier path, and stumbled his way to the town.
Zhou Mingli and Jiang Ci went straight to the town hospital.
There are more people in hospitals today than usual.
Zhou Mingli held Jiang Ci's hand and headed straight for Dr. Jiang's consultation room.
Fortunately, Dr. Jiang was at work today. He had just seen off a patient who brought their child to see him when he saw Zhou Mingli and Jiang Ci standing outside.
He remembered the two men and waved to them, "Come in."
Zhou Mingli pulled Jiang Ci into the room, closed the door of the consultation room, and then said to Dr. Jiang, "Dr. Jiang, my wife has a fever. She got a fever-reducing injection at our brigade's medical station before we came. Could you take a look and see if she has any other discomfort?"
"Did you get caught in the rain yesterday?" Dr. Jiang glanced at her face and asked directly.
Zhou Mingli nodded.
Dr. Jiang chuckled, "You are truly the most cooperative patients I've ever seen. You're more cooperative than three-year-olds when it comes to treating me. I told you not to get cold, and you went out to get soaked in the rain. You're so cooperative that I want to applaud you!"
This doctor is really something!
How sarcastic!
Zhou Mingli remained expressionless. "So what do we do now?"
"Do you want it mixed with scallions or chili peppers?" Dr. Jiang was infuriating. "You've been drinking Chinese medicine for ten days for nothing."
"Sit down, let me take your pulse again."
Jiang Ci's mouth was full of bitterness, and as soon as she sat down, her head and forehead were pressed against the table.
I'm so sleepy.
Jiang Ci misses her bed more than she misses eating meat.
Dr. Jiang said, "Let me tell you, if you break my table, I'll make you pay for it."
Jiang Ci wanted to retort, "Do I need your money to buy a table?" but then she silently considered her own savings.
Okay, shut up.
Dr. Jiang glanced at Jiang Ci and asked, "Was yesterday the last day of Chinese medicine?"
Zhou Mingli nodded, "I drink it every day, and I've finished it all."
"She's alright, she hasn't gotten any worse," Dr. Jiang said. "Her drowsiness is a normal reaction after taking the fever reducer; she needs to rest now."
"Go find Susu before noon to get ten days' worth of medicine." Dr. Jiang wrote the prescription, then glanced at Jiang Ci, "Don't give her the fever reducer anymore."
Jiang Ci nodded listlessly.
"Thank you." Zhou Mingli helped Jiang Ci up.
They made a show of wanting to take out money.
Dr. Jiang pointed at him, "You sit down too."
Zhou Mingli paused slightly, thinking that this Dr. Jiang was indeed quite capable, so he didn't need to make excuses and simply sat in the seat that Jiang Ci had just been in.
Dr. Jiang took a stethoscope and listened to Zhou Mingli's chest for a long time.
"You got a shot too?"
Zhou Mingli nodded. "My fever isn't that serious."
"Hmm, I can see that." Dr. Jiang sat back down and quickly prescribed the medicine. "Go pick up the medicine in a bit. Seven yuan is for your wife's medicine. You can pay for yours downstairs."
"Like your wife, you should rest. You're so young, working yourself to the bone will only wear you down too soon. People like that don't live long."
Upon hearing Dr. Jiang's words, Jiang Ci looked up and glanced at Zhou Mingli.
He took out the money and gave it to Dr. Jiang, thanked her, and then got up with the prescription.
He calmly took Jiang Ci's hand and pulled her outside.
Jiang Ci thought about what happened yesterday.
Actually, Zhou Mingli was the most tired yesterday. After coming down from the mountain, he rode his bicycle to deliver food to Cheng Yehan, then helped her call Doctor Niu and Zhou Gou to the cowshed. When he got home, he cooked without stopping and rushed to the cowshed to wait for her before evening.
That's two trips in total.
Before it rained yesterday, Zhou Mingli went to help out at the neighboring production brigade, where he did all the manual labor.
Zhou Mingli worked non-stop all day yesterday, and today he rode his bicycle to bring her to town for a medical appointment.
Jiang Ci looked at the hand he was holding.
"Were you tired yesterday?" she asked. "Tell me honestly, don't lie, and don't stay silent."
Upon hearing her words, Zhou Mingli's eyes narrowed slightly, but he quickly relaxed and smiled, "Tired."
He wasn't made of iron. After returning from the cowshed with Zhou Gou, he just wanted to lie in bed and not move at all.
My hands, feet, and entire body are so tired and aching all over that I don't have the strength to move at all.
Zhou Mingli believed that he could fall asleep instantly within a minute of lying down.
He thought of Jiang Ci, who was still alone in the cowshed taking care of the elderly, and he didn't dare to lie there at all.
I don’t know if he went too far, but after eating something, Zhou Mingli wasn’t as tired when he went to the cowshed again.
