Chapter 171 I am your granddaughter!

It's no wonder Cheng Yehan said that; when he was arrested, Cheng Huasheng had just come of age and was not married at all!

Cheng Ke is now eight or nine years old. His family can't find him, and no one has told him that his youngest son got married and had a daughter.

Jiang Cidu was taken aback, and asked with considerable confusion, "Isn't Cheng Huasheng your son?"

Cheng Yehan's expression changed instantly. The old man almost lost his composure and took a few quick steps toward Jiang Ci, "Hua Sheng!?"

"Yes, he came with his wife and daughter."

"grandfather!!!"

Are you in there?!

"I am your granddaughter!! I am Coco!!!"

Jiang Ci had barely finished speaking when a super clear girl's voice rang out.

Cheng Yehan paused for a second, and Jiang Ci saw the old man's face flush with joy, as if he had been reborn. He immediately ran towards the source of the sound.

"Grandpa's here! Grandpa's inside!"

Cheng Yehan ran to a wall.

The wall separated the inside from the outside.

"Grandpa, Mom, Dad, and I have come to see you. Are you doing well inside?"

"Okay, I'm fine. Coco, how old are you?"

This stern old man's voice was unusually kind when he was talking to his granddaughter.

The grandfather and grandson were separated by a wall. The old man, Cheng Yehan, had a gentle expression and relaxed brows, and was chatting back and forth with Cheng Ke outside.

Jiang Ci didn't approach; she just stood at a distance watching the old man bend over and lean close to the wall, seemingly trying to hear the voices of the people outside.

After a long pause, she smiled, turned around, and walked out.

When Jiang Ci came out, Li Ailian was directing Cheng Huasheng to unload the things prepared for Cheng Yehan from the car.

Because they weren't sure when they could pick the person up, and the day was getting colder, they prepared new bedding and clothes, a hot water bottle, and a thermos.

Actually, there was also some tea that Cheng Yehan liked to drink wrapped in the quilt.

Liu San wouldn't let them in to see anyone, but he was willing to help them deliver things inside. Li Ailian picked out things that Cheng Yehan could use.

Jiang Ci glanced around and noticed that Zhou Gou hadn't come down.

Upon closer reflection, Liu San had seen Zhou Gou on the rainy day. He had pretended to be someone from the medical station. In order to avoid his lie being exposed, it would be better for him not to come down and see Liu San.

There were still two children at her sister-in-law's house. Jiang Ci didn't say anything to Cheng Huasheng, but just nodded to the couple, pushed her bicycle, and left on her own.

Li Ailian handed the things to Liu San and watched as Liu San took the packed items inside.

Although Liu San really wanted to keep it for himself, he wasn't stupid enough to do that. Despite being tempted, he still sent everything over.

Cheng Ke, the clever little girl, stood outside and asked in a clear voice, "Grandpa, have you seen what my mom, dad, and I prepared for you?"

Cheng Yehan smiled and said, "I saw it, and I received it!"

"Grandpa, you must take good care of yourself, we'll all be waiting for you!"

Cheng Yehan's face was practically contorted with laughter, and he kept nodding his head.

Cheng Ke said goodbye to Cheng Yehan and said she would come over tomorrow, which made Cheng Yehan beam with joy.

Although he didn't see his son, daughter-in-law, or granddaughter, Cheng Yehan was still happy.

There is still a long way to go.

Cheng Huasheng watched his daughter skip and hop back to his side, then glanced deeply in the direction of her father, knowing he would see him eventually.

Cheng Huasheng, along with his daughter and wife, got into the car and said to Zhou Gou, "Shall we come again tomorrow and visit Comrade Jiang's house while we're at it?"

The Jiang family had helped them a lot, and Cheng Huasheng secretly felt that simply repaying them with money and tickets was not enough to show their sincerity. Perhaps there was a better way to repay their kindness.

After thinking for a while, Zhou Si said, "Zhou Lao Er isn't home, so Jiang Ci is the only one here. It might be difficult to entertain her, wouldn't it?"

Li Ailian nudged Cheng Huasheng's arm, "Have you forgotten? Comrade Jiang's husband went to Linyun City?"

Upon hearing this, Cheng Huasheng realized, "That makes sense."

Zhou Gou also wanted to help Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli. He turned to Cheng Huasheng and said, "Zhou Lao Er is also a good person. His wife is a high school graduate who went to the countryside as an educated youth. They have a son and a daughter, and their life is also hard."

"It's a pity that the second son is too old. Otherwise, if he were to join the army, with his tall and strong build, he could definitely bring his wife and children with him to the army."

Upon hearing this, Cheng Huasheng looked at Li Ailian and asked, "What do you think about transferring their household registration and grain ration records to Beijing?"

“We’ll arrange jobs for the couple. Since they’re both employed, they can settle down in Beijing. We can help them out then.”

Li Ailian immediately clapped her hands, "This is good, this is good!"

Zhou Gou suddenly remembered something and gave a thumbs up, "Second brother cooks well! He's a great cook! His ribs are absolutely delicious!"

Cheng Ke smiled, her eyes crinkling, and said innocently, "Then he can go to a state-run restaurant and be a head chef!"

Zhou Gou clapped his hands, "That's right! Mr. Cheng, I'm not bragging to you, but the second son's cooking skills are no worse than those of the head chefs at state-run restaurants!"

Cheng Huasheng smiled and said, "What are you saying? Can your cooking be better than the food cooked by the chef at our previous workplace?"

That organization didn't skimp on their food; the canteen chefs had cooked for the previous dynasty's royal family, and their skills were truly excellent.

Zhou Gou chuckled, "That's true... there's still a bit of a difference, but only a little."

Cheng Huasheng began to think about which canteen could arrange for Zhou Mingli to cook.

Since Cheng Huasheng had not yet met Zhou Mingli, but had only met Jiang Ci, he felt that such an intelligent person as Jiang Ci would find a better place to go.
