Chapter 199 I will buy another bed tomorrow.

There was so much to tidy up. After seeing Zhou Gou, Cheng Huasheng, and the others off, Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli returned to the sixth floor and began setting things up.

This place isn't very big, and most of it is empty, which makes it easier to organize than moving around.

Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli first tidied up the bedroom and bathroom.

Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli first gave the two children a bath and put them to bed. Then they found a place to hang the clock and checked the time.

It was impossible to tidy up in one night. After all, they had been running around for two whole days and were exhausted. They took out the kitchen supplies and tidied up another bedroom.

Although the house is small and doesn't have a living room, it has two separate rooms, which means they can partition it into two bedrooms, one for themselves and one for the two children.

The bedroom is small, and the bed is not like the one in Shanding Brigade, where one bed could fit all four of them. The bed in the house is only 1.5 meters by 2 meters, just enough for two people. If there are two more children, there won't be enough room.

Zhou Mingli laid out their toiletries in the bathroom, then turned his head to watch Jiang Ci squatting there taking out the money from the back of her luggage.

This was all their possessions. Including the money from selling fish and wild boar, as well as the reward given to them by the town's public security bureau, the total amount they had saved exceeded four hundred.

Having just arrived in a new place, there are quite a few things I need to buy.

Jiang Ci took out fifty yuan from it, intending to use it to buy things for the house.

“I asked Sister Ailian, and this house belongs to Cheng Huasheng’s nephew. He went abroad and won’t be back for a year or two.” Jiang Ci put the fifty yuan she had taken out down and walked to the bathroom to say to Zhou Mingli, “After all, it’s not our house. If we can move out of here as soon as possible, it’s better to move out.”

“Even if we can get that kitchen helper job, I don’t think we’ll be able to get a house right away.” Zhou Mingli turned to look at her and lowered his voice. “Let’s find a way to earn more money and buy a house first.”

Jiang Ci countered, "Aren't you planning to use this money as seed money for the future?"

Zhou Mingli said calmly, “Every step in the future will allow us to ride the wave. While money can certainly help us expand our operations quickly, real estate is also a fixed asset.”

It's just not that easy to cash out.

Jiang Ci nodded. "Okay, this could be quite profitable."

Even if they were to buy a house, it would cost over ten thousand yuan, while their current savings are only a little over four hundred yuan.

Zhou Mingli nodded. Seeing that she was about to wash up, he approached her, took her hair in his hand, and tied it up with a small hair tie.

Jiang Ci's hair has grown longer, and with proper nutrition, it has become increasingly soft and fluffy. Zhou Mingli couldn't resist and ran all five fingers through her hair, watching the black strands slip through his fingers.

"I'll get the household registration sorted out tomorrow morning, and then I'll go to the local kindergarten in the afternoon to ask if Yangyang and Miaomiao can transfer in."

Jiang Ci stopped him from fixing his hair, squeezed out some toothpaste, and turned her head to ask, "Can you see where the kindergarten is?"

“I saw it on the pickup truck.” Zhou Mingli stood next to her, took the toothpaste from Jiang Ci, squeezed some on himself, and the two of them filled the entire bathroom. “We’ve been teaching them for a while now, and Yangyang and Miaomiao should be able to catch up with the kindergarten’s pace.”

Hearing this, Jiang Ci couldn't help but laugh, "You do seem to be starting to feel like a father."

He turned on the tap to get water and said, "When Yangyang and Miaomiao go to school, we can be freed from the kids and do our own things."

Jiang Ci also breathed a long sigh of relief, and seeing that Zhou Mingli had filled her cup with water, she said, "Actually, our family hasn't celebrated yet."

Zhou Mingli looked at Jiang Ci in the mirror.

"Tomorrow... I'll go see if I can buy any wine?" Zhou Mingli asked hesitantly.

"Who said we were going to drink?" Jiang Ci's eyes sparkled as she took the toothbrush cup from Zhou Mingli's hand. Even though she was tired, she couldn't hide the upward curve of her lips, a perfect blend of leisure and ease. "Zhou Mingli, cheers to celebrate our move!"

The voice was full of energy and anticipation for the future, without a trace of gloom.

Zhou Mingli stared intently at Jiang Ci in the mirror, feeling that she was no different from the radiant Jiang Ci of the past.

No, there has always only been one person standing in front of him, the one and only Jiang Ci.

Zhou Mingli gripped his glass tightly, his eyes darkening. He raised his glass and lightly clinked it against hers. "To celebrate our move."

His brows softened, and the soft, dim light reflected in his pupils. "Jiang Ci, cheers."

The plastic cups clinked lightly, and the two quickly washed their faces and brushed their teeth.

Although there is tap water, they still need to boil hot water themselves.

Li Ailian bought them some coal briquettes in advance, and Zhou Mingli boiled some hot water. The two of them took a bath before lying down.

The bed was too small, and the two children were sleeping sprawled out, so Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli had to squeeze in even more.

Zhou Mingli was adept at bringing Jiang Ci to his side; as soon as they got into bed, he pulled her into his arms.

"You didn't crush the two children, did you? Lie down a little more over here?" Zhou Mingli pulled Jiang Ci to his body without changing his expression, and asked about Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao's condition.

Jiang Ci was completely pulled into Zhou Mingli's arms, her legs were sandwiched between Zhou Mingli's legs, as if she had become a human-shaped pendant. How could two children possibly squeeze in?

"How could I possibly be on top of them?" Jiang Ci reached out and grabbed his shoulder, lowering her voice, "Zhou Mingli, who are you trying to fool? Why don't you just say you want me to sleep on top of you?"

Zhou Mingli lay back, pulling her onto him, saying, "You used to say it wasn't comfortable to sleep like this."

He gently nuzzled Jiang Ci's cheek and whispered in her ear, "If you want to sleep, I have no objection, and I'd be more than happy to."

Although Zhou Mingli wasn't the kind of muscular man who looked incredibly exaggerated, he still had a physique covered in a thin layer of skin that couldn't be ignored.

His skin was fair, and his waist and abdomen felt elastic when he wasn't straining, but when he strained, they were clearly defined, covered with fine beads of sweat, and there was always an indescribable tension about him.

Jiang Ci couldn't remember which year it was, but the two of them had been entangled in passion, staying close together all night. The next morning, she was still lying on top of Zhou Mingli and hadn't gotten up.

Jiang Ci was exhausted after the short sleep, and upon waking up, she declared that she would never sleep on him again.

Jiang Ci had forgotten about this, but Zhou Mingli actually remembered it.

Jiang Ci turned her head to the side, her voice still very low, "Do you want me to sleep with you, or do you want to sleep with me?"

Her voice rose in pitch, trailing off at the end, reaching his ears with a subtle, lingering quality.

Zhou Mingli's breathing became labored.

He pulled Jiang Ci closer to him, exhaling a soft breath of warm air, "I want both."

Then Zhou Mingli heard Jiang Ci chuckle softly. He pulled Jiang Ci's face towards him, kissed her lips, and gently sucked on them.

I thought to myself: I'll buy another bed tomorrow.
