Chapter 21 Haircut

She was quick and efficient, and Sister-in-law Yu smiled, took a comb, and started combing Jiang Ci's hair.

After confirming that Zhou Mingli spoke, he said, "She still has an injury on the back of her head."

Hearing this, Sister-in-law Yu looked at him with great surprise, thinking to herself, "Hasn't Jiang Ci already suffered enough injuries? You're the one who did all of them. Now you know how to care for your wife?"

Without realizing it, Sister-in-law Yu avoided Jiang Ci's wound and chopped off all the tangled and unruly hair.

Zhou Mingli, on the other hand, was fine. He glanced at the Jiang Ci painting on the ground, paused, and suddenly asked Sister-in-law Yu, "Sister-in-law Yu, does Brother Yu have anything else to do these days? I'd like to build a courtyard and fence off the house."

When Sister Yu swung her scissors, she almost accidentally cut the wrong spot!

"What?!" Sister-in-law Yu's voice rose a few decibels. "You want to build a yard?!"

Zhou Mingli touched his ear and nodded silently, "Yes, we need a courtyard."

Otherwise, if he buys chickens, his front door will become a self-service area for thieves.

Seeing that he didn't explain why he wanted to build a yard, Jiang Ci added, "My child and I aren't in very good health, so we plan to buy two hens from the supply and marketing cooperative to lay eggs."

"Don't worry, we won't let Brother Yu work for nothing. I remember Brother Yu's brother is here too, right? When you go back, talk to Brother Yu and if it works out, we'll buy some more materials tomorrow."

Even the poorest families in Shanding Brigade would fence off their yards, unlike Zhou Lao Er's family, which consisted of just two bare, dilapidated rooms. You could see at a glance what they ate and what they did.

Money is always important, especially when there's a job that earns money.

Sister-in-law Yu asked carefully how big the yard should be. "We're harvesting wheat right now, so I'm afraid I won't be able to come and build the yard for you until after work."

Jiang Ci said, "No rush. Zhou Mingli still needs to recover, and there's a lot of work to be done at my house. If Brother Yu is capable, we can start after the wheat harvest. My family still needs to prepare materials."

"Okay, I'll go back and talk to your brother Yu." Sister-in-law Yu neatly cut Jiang Ci's hair, making it a bit longer than a short bob, about shoulder-length. If Jiang Ci found it troublesome to wear it down, she could tie it up.

"Thank you, sister-in-law. Please take this candy and give it to Dazhu and Erzhu when you get back." Jiang Ci took two candies out of her pocket and stuffed them into Sister-in-law Yu's hand.

Sister-in-law Yu exclaimed twice, but couldn't resist pushing her away. A deep smile appeared on her face. "You silly child, such a precious thing, look how good it is to save it for your child!"

"I still have some, they're all for the children, so please take them without worry."

Jiang Ci smiled and asked Sister-in-law Yu to put the candy into her pocket.

When Sister-in-law Yu returned home, her smile never faded. She turned her head and glanced towards Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli's house.

The moon was very bright tonight, and its silvery light shone down. The oil lamps in the other room had been extinguished, but under the moonlight, the lady of the house sat on a small stool, bending over, while the master of the house carefully washed her hair.
