Chapter 215: Good things happened, of course I am happy

"Looks like I won't be doing anything in the kitchen anymore."

Zhou Mingli stood behind Jiang Ci, joking lightly.

Hearing the noise, Jiang Ci turned her head, her smile unchanged, and walked a few steps to Zhou Mingli. She put her arm around his neck and gave him a kiss in a very good mood.

Jiang Ci drawled, "This is your territory, I'm not going to fight you for it."

Zhou Mingli kept his head down, his gaze following her retreating figure after the kiss. "So happy?"

"Of course I'm happy when good news comes."

“I’ll do it.” Zhou Mingli took the spatula from her hand, put his other arm around her waist, pulled her closer, and kissed her lips, deepening the kiss.

Jiang Ci did not refuse, and the joy overflowing from her eyes was almost undisguised.

The coal was still burning, and Zhou Mingli didn't kiss her for long. Worried that he might lose control, he only bit her lower lip before restraining himself and letting go.

He glanced at her, then glanced at her again, and asked, "Aren't you planning to share?"

"You should cook properly. I finally managed to cook this dish, so don't mess it up." Jiang Ci pushed him and looked at the food in the pot, drawing out her words, "It's not confirmed yet. We'll talk about it later when we have a result."

As happy as she was, Jiang Ci knew that no one had given her any guarantees or made any definitive statements like, "Yes, it's you, Jiang Ci, you'll be working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs!" Of course, Jiang Ci couldn't exaggerate in front of Zhou Mingli.

Otherwise, it wouldn't look good if I got slapped in the face later.

However, for Jiang Ci, being able to befriend the Huo family was also a good thing.

Who would complain about having a wide network of connections?

Seeing that she wouldn't talk, Zhou Mingli smiled and didn't press her. He then took the meat out of the pot, as it was cooked.

Jiang Ci seemed to remember something and asked, "Weren't you at the hospital looking after Huang Zheyue? Why are you back?"

“I went to his friends, bought them food, and had them watch over the fish.” Zhou Mingli’s gaze fell on the carp. “You bought it?”

"Is Huang Zheyue's friend reliable?" Jiang Ci asked again, and then replied, "No, it was caught by Mr. Cheng's friend. He and I each caught one."

“I’ve seen him. He’s alright, though he has some minor issues. But he’s honest and reliable. His ribs were broken by his uncle, and he’ll be hospitalized for so long. We couldn’t let taking care of him interfere with our own things, so we asked his friend to help look after him.”

Zhou Mingli explained, then began to prepare the carp, "To make braised carp?"

Jiang Ci immediately nodded, "Okay."

There's no need to worry about his skills, and it'll also give him some practice in knife work so he can handle the job interview with ease.

Jiang Ci left the kitchen to check on what dance the two children had learned at kindergarten that day.

Nowadays, kindergartens are basically just teachers playing with the children and incidentally teaching them some common sense, simple numbers, and their understanding of the outside world.

Their teacher taught them to dance today.

On their way back, Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao were swaying and jumping around, full of energy.

The two children pulled Jiang Ci over, took off her shoes, and stood on their bed, excitedly singing, wiggling their little bottoms, and waving their hands.

What's that song about...? Two tigers, two tigers running fast, one without eyes, one without a tail~

"Mom, did we dance well?!"

"Don't we sing really well too!"

The two children watched with bright, sparkling eyes, waiting for Jiang Ci's evaluation.

From the perspective of contemporary Jiang porcelain aesthetics: it's hard to judge.

But since the child was so excited, Jiang Ci naturally wanted to give him plenty of emotional support, so she clapped and said, "You danced very well! Your singing was also very loud. You should continue to learn from your teacher in the future."

Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao, being kindergarten students who haven't even graduated yet, were completely fooled by their mother, nodding and shaking their heads with joy.

...

Cheng Wenyun worked overtime until 10 p.m., which was the norm for everyone in their office.

His superior is still here, handling official business.

"You can go back first. We can take care of the rest of the work when we come to work tomorrow." Although the leader's voice still sounded tired, his tone was gentle. "People need to eat to survive. If you don't get enough rest, how can my work proceed smoothly?"

Cheng Wenyun didn't have anyone make tea for the leader; instead, he put hot milk in the cup.

“You need rest more than we do.” Cheng Wenyun gently placed the cup next to the leader’s desk. “It contains milk. After you finish your work, you should go back and rest.”

The leader smiled and said, "I understand. Alright, you can all leave now and go back."

Cheng Wenyun left the leader's office with his other colleagues, packed his things, and prepared to go home.

A female employee dressed as a clerk came in from outside. She came to Cheng Wenyun's side and said, "Secretary Cheng, this is what you asked me to look up before. The information is all on it."

The female employee handed over a document.

"Thank you." Cheng Wenyun smiled at the female employee. "You've been off work for ages, why are you still here? To bring me this?"

The female employee scratched her head and laughed, "No, my husband and I had dinner and were taking a walk and chatting outside. We passed by the office, and I happened to have this in my bag. I thought you must still be working overtime lately, so I brought it to you."

"That's so thoughtful of you. Your loved one is probably still waiting for you outside, right? Go on your way."

The female employee nodded, "Then I'll be going now!"

Cheng Wenyun quickly finished packing his things.
