Zhou Mingli didn't get home until after 9 p.m., which was already very late. He moved very quietly so as not to disturb the two children and Jiang Ci's rest.
Jiang Ci left him some hot water.
Zhou Mingli walked a long way, poured himself a large glass, and drank it all in one gulp before walking very quietly into the house. Judging from the raised arch on the bed, he knew that Jiang Ci was sleeping.
He smiled silently, not disturbing Jiang Ci's rest, and quickly went to the bathroom to wash up.
Zhou Mingli was very energetic. In winter, he usually used cold water except for taking a bath and washing his hair. After washing up, he would warm his hands and feet outside before going to bed and pulling Jiang Ci into his arms.
"You're back?"
Zhou Mingli paused after hearing her speak, "Not asleep?"
"I can't sleep." Jiang Ci opened her eyes and said this without turning on the light.
Sensing that something was off about her voice, Zhou Mingli got up and turned on the light, making the room brighter.
Jiang Ci lay motionless on the bed. Zhou Mingli sat back down and asked her, "What happened?"
Looking at the warm yellow light, Jiang Ci said, "Today at the entrance of the Public Security Bureau, I saw Xia Lei come out of there."

When Liu Yinyin saw Xia Lei, her eyes welled up with tears. She ran over quickly and hugged him.
"Brother Lei, you're finally out!"
Feeling his wife's soft body, Xia Lei didn't care about thinking too much and hugged her tightly, "Yin Yin... thank you for your hard work."
Guo Zhen stood at a distance watching this scene of deep affection, and did not go up to disturb it.
Suddenly, Guo Zhen turned his head to look at the main road.
I only saw a slender woman in a coat riding a bicycle past from behind.
Guo Zhen frowned, staring at the departing woman's back. He then looked around but didn't see anyone else.
Is it his imagination?
He had just sensed a probing gaze fixed on him.
Turning his gaze away, Guo Zhen said in a calm tone, "It's time to go back."
Liu Yinyin and Xia Lei reluctantly parted ways, still holding hands tightly, and walked towards the car.
The three got into the car, and Liu Yinyin took off her coat with concern. "Brother Lei, are you freezing? I didn't know that the police station didn't even prepare a warm coat for you, so I didn't bring one... You can wear mine for now."
Although Xia Lei was shivering from the cold, he had no reason to wear his wife's clothes. "I'm not cold, you wear them."
He helped Liu Yinyin put on her clothes.
Then he pulled the clothes tighter.
"How have you been lately? Has anyone been bullying you?" Xia Lei asked, looking at her.
Liu Yinyin shook her head, "No, thanks to Mr. Guo's help all along, I've been doing very well during this time."
Her eyes, brimming with affection, met Guo Zhen's.
Guo Zhen, who was driving, smiled and said, "It's nothing, Xia Lei. There are some extra clothes of mine in the back. If you're cold, put them on first. By the way, you haven't eaten yet, have you? What would you like to eat? It's my treat."
Liu Yinyin also thought of this and immediately followed up with Guo Zhen's words, suggesting, "Brother Lei, let's go eat at Lao Mo's?"
That was a Russian restaurant, and one of the best Western restaurants in Beijing.
Xia Lei looked at her and smiled, "I've been thinking that after we go back to Beijing, I'll take you to Lao Mo's. What do you think?"
Liu Yinyin nodded, "The interior decoration is very nice, and the food is all kinds of flavors that we don't have in China. Old Mo's food suits my taste better."
Although the Xia family was unwilling to associate with Liu Yinyin, Xia Lei knew that Liu Yinyin still had money and that she could afford to eat at Lao Mo's restaurant if she wanted to.
She likes to eat, so from now on I'll take her to Lao Mo for meals.
As Xia Lei was thinking this, he heard Guo Zhen speak up, "Didn't you like the matsutake mushroom soup and tree root cake we had last time? It's too cold now, let Xia Lei drink more soup, it will warm him up."
Liu Yinyin felt that Guo Zhen was absolutely right and continued to nod in agreement with him.
