As they were talking, they arrived home, where Sister-in-law Yu was standing at their door with Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao.
The two children keenly sensed that something was wrong and ran over to Jiang Ci's side with small steps.
Jiang Ci had calmed down by now. Her face was expressionless, and she looked somewhat serious.
As Sister-in-law Yu approached, she immediately noticed the door that had been kicked open.
"Oh my god! Why doesn't Boss Zhou just die?!" Sister-in-law Yu started cursing as soon as she saw the mess on the floor. "Isn't this a waste of space?!"
She glanced at Jiang Ci with a hint of sympathy.
This city girl had just reformed when she encountered this awful guy. Of course she'd be angry!
Some busybodies followed and took a look at Zhou Mingli's house, their faces contorted with rage.
Even the door was kicked down, Zhou Laoda really got away with it!
Serves you right!
Jiang Ci had calmed down. She stood up and said to Zhou Mingli, "Take the door off first, return the bicycle, and I'll clean up here."
Zhou Mingli: "Okay."
She said to her sister-in-law, "Thank you all for today. My house is a mess, so it's not appropriate to entertain you properly. We'll treat you to a meal after we've cleaned up."
Sister-in-law Yu, being straightforward, said, "We're neighbors, why are you talking about this!"
"Old Yu, lend a hand!" Sister-in-law Yu called out to her husband.
Without saying much, Brother Yu and Zhou Mingli removed the door together.
Jiang Ci and Sister-in-law Yu then went inside.
At first glance, the scene was one of utter chaos.
Sister-in-law Yu couldn't help but start cursing again, "That Zhou Laoda, he's such a damn bastard, he's made such a mess of our home!"
No matter how harshly they criticize, they still have to be disciplined.
Jiang Ci and Sister-in-law Yu picked up the things that had been thrown on the ground together.
Footprints mixed with mud and bits of straw were still stuck to her clean clothes. Sister-in-law Yu cursed inwardly what a waste of things!
The four adults tidied up quickly. Sister-in-law Yu said to Jiang Ci, "Let's go wash these clothes again, and also these sheets and pillowcases, they all need to be washed again."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Mingli said, "Sister-in-law, I'll wash the things, you don't need to worry about it."
Jiang Ci had already thrown everything into the basin and said, "Sister-in-law, let's go."
Zhou Mingli paused slightly, and Jiang Ci glanced at him. "Go find the brigade leader and see what kind of wood is needed for the gate, as well as the bricks for building the yard."
Sister-in-law Yu and Brother Yu exchanged a glance and understood what Jiang Ci meant.
Since Zhou Laoda dared to come to his house to steal things so openly, Zhou Laoer could no longer think of just making do with the walls; he had to build something better to keep people out.
Zhou Mingli nodded, "Okay, there's laundry detergent in the bicycle pan, use that to wash."
Jiang Ci and Sister-in-law Yu took their child to the river to wash clothes.
Zhou Mingli and Brother Yu unloaded everything off the bicycle.
Brother Yu clicked his tongue in amazement, "You guys bought quite a lot of things."
“This is all the money I saved up before. Since we need to make a living, we have to take out what we haven’t taken before.”
Brother Yu thought to himself, "That's right, it's a massive hemorrhage."
After tidying things up, Brother Yu was still worried that Boss Zhou might come back to steal while Zhou Mingli was at the brigade leader's house, so he told Zhou Mingli to go by himself and that he would keep watch for them.
Zhou Mingli didn't say much and rode his bicycle to the brigade leader's house again.
The brigade leader couldn't take a nap today, worried that Zhou Lao Er would steal the bicycle and sell it.
