Chapter 313 The sky is falling for the child

Jiang Ci was recognized by her neighbors on the street before she even arrived home after get off work.

"Comrade Jiang, just got off work?"

Jiang Ci smiled and nodded, "Yes, taking a walk."

"Hey, by the way, nobody's home right now," the neighbor said. "They've all gone to the hospital."

Jiang Ci was taken aback, her intuition telling her something was wrong. "To the hospital? Who's injured?"

"The little guy who lives in your house got dragged into an alley and beaten up. I heard he hurt his leg!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ci frowned. "Which hospital?"

The neighbor immediately pointed out the way to Jiang Ci, "Your husband is going that way."

Jiang Ci immediately realized that Zhou Mingli had gone to the same hospital as before. Without saying a word, she took off running.

After arriving at the hospital, she asked a nurse and went to the orthopedics department, where she immediately saw Zhou Mingli and his two children.

Jiang Ci quickened her pace and called out, "Zhou Mingli!"

Zhou Mingli turned around and saw Jiang Ci. He walked towards her and took her arm. "Why are you here?"

Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao heard the noise and ran over.

Jiang Ci patted their heads and said to Zhou Mingli, "I ran into a neighbor on the way back. He said Huang Zheyue was beaten."

Jiang Ci: "What about Huang Zheyue? How is he?"

Zhou Mingli: "His leg is broken, and the doctor is treating him."

Jiang Ci ran all the way from the family dormitory to the hospital in one breath, still not fully out of breath. Zhou Mingli patted her back to help her catch her breath.

Jiang Ci's expression darkened. "Who did this?"

Zhou Mingli, “His uncle, Engineer Huang.”

Jiang Ci: "Damn it, it's like a persistent ghost."

Zhou Mingli said, "He could have occupied Huang Zheyue and his father's house, but after the commotion, he had to move out. Now, even more aggressive people live there, and Huang Gong can't handle them. The only person he can resent is Huang Zheyue."

"Engineer Huang has been staking out the residential building for several days, looking for an opportunity to make a move."

Jiang Ci suppressed her anger and clenched her fists tightly.

Zhou Mingli pulled her aside and whispered a few words in her ear.

The porcelain surface was as smooth as water.

“I already have a plan.” Zhou Mingli said with his head down, “This time, we’ll wipe out the Bai family and Engineer Huang in one fell swoop.”

Jiang Ci remained expressionless. "Cut the weeds and eliminate the roots."

Huang Zheyue's injuries were quite serious, and the doctor arranged for him to be hospitalized.

Jiang Ci watched him from this side. Zhou Mingli took the two children home and cooked a meal.

"What do you want to eat tomorrow? I'll have your Uncle Zhou make it and bring it over for you."

"Aunt Jiang, could I... not be hospitalized?"

“No,” Jiang Ci said, then paused, looking at him, “Why don’t you want to be hospitalized?”

Huang Zheyue's face showed a hint of youthful unease, "It's too expensive, and..."

He looked at Jiang Ci and said, "If I'm hospitalized, there will be no one to take care of Yangyang and Miaomiao."

Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli both had to go to work. Looking at the things they bought for the family and the things Jiang Ci brought back, Huang Zheyue could vaguely guess that Aunt Jiang was moving up the social ladder.

No matter how you look at it, Huang Zheyue subconsciously felt that she couldn't interfere with Aunt Jiang's work.

Yangyang and Miaomiao are too young to be left alone at home, so... he would rather stay home to recover from his injury and keep an eye on the two children.

Jiang Ci sighed and reached out to rub his head. "Huang Zheyue, you don't have to be so sensible."

Huang Zheyue was taken aback.

“Your Uncle Zhou and I are adults. Can’t we even take care of children?” Jiang Ci said. “Don’t worry about Yangyang and Miaomiao. Just focus on recovering.”

Huang Zheyue's lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but Jiang Ci slapped her back.

He was on an IV drip for three days. Zhou Mingli brought the food over on his bicycle, along with Huang Zheyue's change of clothes and toiletries.

When Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli were discussing who should stay at the hospital to keep watch over her, Huang Zheyue quickly said, "No need to stay at the hospital, I can manage on my own!"

"Shut up."

Zhou Mingli and Jiang Ci shouted at him together.

Huang Zheyue: "..."

“Even if we don’t stay with you at the hospital, we will hire a caregiver to help look after you,” Jiang Ci said. “You injured your leg. Do you expect to jump around when you get up at night? What if you fall again?”

Huang Zheyue was rendered speechless.

Zhou Mingli and Jiang Ci decided to hire a caregiver.

Zhou Mingli quickly consulted the hospital and paid for a caregiver for Huang Zheyue.

After watching Huang Zheyue finish her dinner, Zhou Mingli packed up the lunchbox, gave the caregiver and Huang Zheyue a few instructions, and then he and Jiang Ci left.

A patient in the clinic asked Huang Zheyue, "Is this your cousin's family? They're so good to you, even helping you hire a caregiver."

Huang Zheyue glanced at him, then looked away, and said in a low but firm voice, "Uncle."

"ah?"

Huang Zheyue ignored the people in the ward and lay on the bed staring at the ceiling.

Besides his father, there were no other people in the world who treated him as well as Uncle Zhou and Aunt Jiang.

He could never repay their kindness in his lifetime.

That evening, Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli went back and discussed how to deal with Bai Hua's family and Huang Gong's anger. Then they talked about Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao.

The two children are too young, and there's a predatory establishment downstairs; leaving them alone at home would be extremely dangerous.

Jiang Ci pondered for a moment and then said, "I can take them to work."

"What?" Zhou Mingli was a little stunned.

Jiang Ci said, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs doesn't have that much work at the end of the year. I'll be on holiday in four or five days, and I'll take them to work in a separate reception room."

"Will this work?"

"Let's give it a try. If it doesn't work, I'll call Zhou Gou and ask him to take the child to the army."

Zhou Gou is, after all, the uncle of these two children. Even though they are beyond the fifth degree of kinship, he still has to help look after them.

Zhou Mingli said, "This is the only way we can do it."

Only after they had figured out what to do with the two children did they finally rest.

Zhou Mingli took on the task of delivering meals to Huang Zheyue himself. He got up early in the morning, prepared the meal, and took a portion to the hospital.

After Jiang Ci got up, she pulled the two children out of bed and helped them get dressed.

"Mommy, are we going to see Brother Zheyue?" Zhou Miao asked, tilting her little head up. "Brother Zheyue is still in the hospital and hasn't come home yet."

“You’re going to work with Mom today, don’t go see Brother Zheyue.”

"ah?!"

"ah!!"

The two children were both shocked.

Jiang Ci looked at them and said, "Because there is no one at home to take care of you, your father and I are worried about leaving the two of you at home, so I'm going to take you with me to work."

"My mom works in a place with a lot of adults, and they don't like unreasonable children..."

"We're not unreasonable little kids!" Zhou Yang shouted. "We're very well-behaved!"

Zhou Miao nodded vigorously, "Mmm-hmm-hmm-hmm!!!"

Jiang Ci smiled as she put a puzzle box into their backpacks. "If you don't behave, you won't have the chance to go to work with Mom anymore. I'll also take away all your toys and cancel your weekly snack rewards..."

The two children looked terrified; their world had collapsed.
