In the few meetings we've had over the past few years, Jiang Ci has always said that he and his partner are not the same kind of people.
Jiang Ci said he is calm and restrained. No matter what he does, he can calculate all the advantages and disadvantages and analyze rationally. Once he takes action, he will definitely get the result he wants.
But in bed he was never calm enough. He always wanted to destroy everything about Jiang Ci in bed: the extent of her body's curvature, her lack of passionate response, her remaining rationality, and her rationality as she watched him go mad.
Zhou Mingli wanted to destroy all of them.
The wickedness inherent in men and their different ways of thinking made Zhou Mingli want to shatter her sanity, to see her lose herself in his arms, to see her lose her lofty pride and fall into depravity with him, to see her go mad because of him.
Jiang Ci said she didn't like listening to his nonsense, but he insisted on saying it anyway.
He made sure she was completely exhausted and could only rely on him, and that he made sure she heard him use a nickname she would never use before.
Jiang Ci was unaware that every time she fell into a deep sleep from exhaustion, after Zhou Mingli carried her to take a bath, he would always hold her tightly on the large bed with the changed sheets, gazing at her sleeping face inch by inch, and sometimes tracing her cheek with his hand.
He and Jiang Ci rarely met, and only after the initial passion faded could he look at her with such peace of mind.
Zhou Mingli knew every part of her body well; they had once slept peacefully in each other's arms without any distance between them.
Now, his hand, casually resting on the bed, is less than three centimeters away from Jiang Ci, but he can no longer take another step forward.
As Zhou Mingli felt Jiang Ci's steady breathing, he slowly turned to the side and placed a very light kiss on her hair.
Restrained and repressed.
...
Zhou Mingli made shrimp cakes this morning.
His injuries haven't fully healed yet. He can manage cooking and housework, but if he goes to the fields to harvest wheat, bending over for too long will tear open the wounds on his back. He plans to rest for a couple more days before going to work with Jiang Ci.
Shrimp cakes are not difficult to make. Zhou Mingli peeled all the river shrimp, removed their heads, poured some scallion and ginger water to remove the fishy smell, and then chopped the shrimp meat, leaving some pieces so that it would have a better texture.
Zhou Mingli added some cornmeal, oil, and salt, shaped it into round cakes, lit a fire, and fried the shrimp cakes.
Then Zhou Mingli went to the Yu family to exchange for a few more eggs, and when he came back, he steamed some scrambled eggs with the remaining shrimp.
After Jiang Ci got up, she smelled a unique aroma of shrimp.
Her stomach started rumbling.
Jiang Ci took a deep breath; being able to eat a delicious breakfast made her feel incredibly happy after getting up.
Jiang Ci brushed her teeth and washed her face with her newly bought toothbrush and toothpaste, then applied some face cream before heading into the kitchen. She gave Zhou Mingli a thumbs up and said, "I have to say, your cooking skills are pretty good!"
Zhou Mingli raised an eyebrow. "Come and try it, how does it taste?"
Zhou Mingli handed Jiang Ci a shrimp cake that had been fried earlier.
Not too hot, golden brown on both sides, the shape of the shrimp meat is barely visible, but the aroma alone is enough to make Jiang Ci's mouth water.
Jiang Ci couldn't wait to take a bite, and her eyes lit up.
The tender shrimp meat is springy and firm, with a unique flavor from being pan-fried in oil. It's salty and satisfying to eat.
So delicious!
"tasty!"
Zhou Mingli's lips curled up. "There are still several left. I also steamed some cornbread and scrambled eggs in another pot. I'll serve you a bowl in a bit."
Jiang Ci nodded and quickly finished the shrimp cake.
"I woke Yangyang and Miaomiao up for dinner."
Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao got up quickly. They smelled the shrimp cakes and couldn't wait to run to the kitchen, their eyes shining with desire.
Before they could even taste it, Jiang Ci dragged the two children to wash their faces and brush their teeth, moved the stools to the big stone block in front of the door, and watched eagerly as their parents brought out the food.
Each of the two children received a shrimp cake, a quarter of a steamed bun, and a small bowl of scrambled eggs with shrimp.
Zhou Yang looked at his own food, then at Zhou Miao's, and was about to take the shrimp cake when Zhou Mingli and Jiang Ci each clapped their hands.
"Your things are the same for both of you, so you're not allowed to fight over them."
Zhou Yang pursed his lips. Perhaps it was the guidance he had received these past few days, but he gradually accepted that he and his sister should have the same resources, and he stopped crying and wailing.
The children didn't have much willpower. As soon as Jiang Ci mentioned eating, they immediately focused their attention on the shrimp cakes.
Awooooo!
They ate really, really hard.
Poor children are all like this, just like a starving cat, eating fiercely, guarding their food, and not knowing when they are full.
They quickly finished the shrimp cakes, each the size of an adult's fist, followed by scrambled eggs with shrimp, and finally steamed corn bread.
Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli have bigger appetites than the two children, so the two of them can finish the rest of the food.
Zhou Mingli said to Jiang Ci, "I've already prepared some cooled boiled water for you in the kettle. Wear a hat and watch out for the sun."
Jiang Ci nodded. "Then I'll be going now."
After she finished eating, she changed into the clothes she wore to work, carried a water bottle, and put on a hat before heading to the fields.
After having eaten their fill, Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao stayed obediently at home with Zhou Mingli.
I haven't been here for a day, and the wheat field has been harvested again. Stacks of wheat, along with the straw, are tied up and laid out to dry in the wheat field. Once the threshing machine arrives, the wheat will be ready for harvest.
Jiangci arrived relatively early today; there weren't many people working in the fields.
After writing down her name, she checked her head and felt that the injury to the back of her head had healed.
Maybe we can try harvesting wheat.
Without further ado, Jiang Ci grabbed a sickle and set off to harvest wheat with great pride and high spirits.
