Everyone was stunned.
How did this get involved in a crime?!
Listening outside the door, Shan Lian sensed something juicy was going on and quickly asked, "How can there be a crime here?"
Jiang Ci glanced at her.
Jiang Ci was still mindful of Shan Lian and didn't immediately reveal the deal between Guo Zhen, Liu Yinyin, and Xia Lei.
Looking back now, both Guo Zhen and Liu Yinyin are essentially the same kind of people. They recklessly came to cause her trouble, so why should she help them cover up their dirty deeds?
Jiang Ci shifted her gaze from Shan Lian and answered casually, "Her ex-husband was arrested for allegedly buying and selling cultural relics. She came to Beijing and asked someone to help her get him released."
That sentence was like a bombshell.
"This woman is quite capable; she actually managed to get in touch with a big shot!"
"Who released her husband? Is this reasonable?"
Director Chai never expected that this matter would involve such a transaction.
He frowned. According to Jiang Ci, that woman came here purely for revenge?
Is he retaliating against Jiang Ci for sending her husband to the fence?
Once you think about it that way, it makes sense.
After all, nothing is easier to successfully slander than throwing sexually charged mud at a lesbian.
Director Chai said, "It seems that what that woman said was pure fabrication, an attempt to slander our cadres."
The personnel director nodded with a stern face, "This kind of person does extremely bad things and has a significant impact on cadre Jiang."
Jiang Ci was one of Director Chai's top lieutenants. Director Chai would never want to lose a capable cadre, let alone be slandered on such a baseless ground.
Director Chai and the personnel director quickly discussed the matter, and then took Jiang Ci to see the minister.
Jiang Ci is now a very capable person in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She wants to move up the ranks and gain more power. For the sake of her future career and the overall image of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since she knows that someone is trying to smear her, she cannot just watch this matter escalate.
Jiang Ci repeated the conversation to the minister.
When the minister heard about the buying and selling of cultural relics, his brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
He looked at Jiang Ci and asked, "What's the name of that educated youth you mentioned who came to Beijing? And who was he involved with?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ci did not answer directly. Instead, she calmly met the minister's gaze and said, "Is this important to you?"
The minister tapped his fingers on the table, and after a while, said to the others in the office, "You can go back and do your own things."
This means Jiang Ci will have to speak alone.
The group quickly filed out of the minister's office.
The door wasn't closed, but no one dared to come closer to eavesdrop.
The minister asked her to sit down and poured Jiang Ci a cup of tea. "Why did you ask me whether buying and selling cultural relics is important to me?"
Jiang Ci smiled calmly, "I've encountered so many things since I came to Beijing that I can't help but be a little paranoid."
The minister raised his eyebrows. "I need the name of the important person you mentioned who rescued the prisoner. This is important not only to me, but to the entire country."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ci's heart stirred slightly. She lowered her eyes to look at the white steam rising from the teacup and slowly said, "A section chief."
Jiang Ci then asked, "Minister, can you tell me why you want to know who that important person is?"
"You little rascal, you really don't act until you see the benefit." The minister shook his head with a chuckle. "Never mind, I already know who you're talking about."
The minister glanced at the calendar and said, "There's a meeting on May 27th, and several high-ranking leaders will be attending. You'll come with me."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ci nodded obediently.
“Minister, I think I also need to tell you something else,” Jiang Ci said. “I have been invited to the Shan family’s residence.”
Upon hearing this, the minister looked at her with piercing eyes.
"If given the opportunity, I would be willing to tell the leaders the whole story and everything I know."
"Just do your job well. As for other people's slander, it's not a big deal." The minister waved his hand. "Keep what you know to yourself. You don't need to tell me. Go and get busy."
Jiang Ci stood up, bowed to the minister, and then left.
Jiang Ci visited the Shan family three times and attended two gatherings, but never saw anyone from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs mingling there.
She told the minister these things purely from information that Jiang Ci had obtained from the minister during their previous conversation.
No matter the era, there will always be corrupt officials who abuse their power and do whatever they want. But in this era, there are more people who are wholeheartedly devoted to the country.
Jiang Ci could believe that the important person she met at the meeting that the minister asked her to attend was definitely not an ordinary important person.
She might have the opportunity to speak face-to-face with the country's top leader and second-in-command.
This is an opportunity.
She needs to emphasize her value more to gain their attention.
Ever since Jiang Ci got involved with the Shan family, he has always felt like he was personally involved in the game.
Her own abilities were insignificant, and now that the minister had given her a hint, Jiang Ci had no choice but to follow suit.
Jiangci needs more leverage.
She returned to her workstation, where everyone gathered around to inquire about her condition.
Jiang Ci had fully recovered and, with her usual smile, said to her colleagues, "It's alright. The director and minister are very perceptive. If I really did something wrong, wouldn't they be able to find out?"
"We'll wait and see how it goes."
Jiang Ci was completely unconcerned and remained remarkably calm.
