Jiang Ci was studying at home when Huang Zheyue came back with her schoolbag and saw her, thinking she was joking.
He was memorizing the English dictionary and English book that Jiang Ci had given him. He was tormented for ten minutes. Before putting down the book and taking Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao out to play, he saw Jiang Ci sitting at the desk by the window with a large stack of books beside her. She looked down at the books. The three children passed by her, and Huang Zheyue did not see Jiang Ci look up.
Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao greeted her in their sweet, childlike voices, "Mommy, let's go out and play!"
Jiang Ci raised her eyelids slightly. "Go."
Huang Zheyue took Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao on a wild trip, and when they came back, Jiang Ci was still studying.
He kept writing with a fountain pen in his hand.
For some reason, Huang Zheyue suddenly felt a little bit of urgency.
Although they weren't learning the same thing, with someone in the family comparing them, Huang Zheyue couldn't help but want to follow suit, so he also went into the room to do his homework.
Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao were of adult age, and their older brother Zhe Yue, who used to play with them, had gone to study. So they sat next to Huang Zhe Yue, their heads close together, looking at picture books.
This family is usually very noisy after school, so their sudden quietness surprised the neighbors.
The auntie from the management school grabbed Zhou Mingli, who seemed to be busy with something, and asked, "Hey, Zhou, why is your house so quiet? Aren't the kids home?"
"Yes." Zhou Mingli looked up and glanced inside, then said, "They should be studying."
"Wow, your child is so well-behaved!"
Zhou Mingli smiled and said, "They learned it from their mother."
When the auntie from the management department saw Jiang Ci sitting by the window writing something, she couldn't help but sigh.
No wonder she was favored by the department leaders. The leaders told her to stay home and study hard for the exam, so Jiang Ci closed her doors to visitors and did nothing but study.
She didn't care about anything happening in the college. If she found it too noisy, she would go to the nearby university library to study. She just studied like crazy!
After seeing the Dean of Management off, Zhou Mingli carried his things home.
I made several trips back and forth to move all the things into the house.
He walked into the bedroom, and Jiang Ci looked at him, her gaze sweeping over the things he had brought back, and said, "You brought so much?"
"That's considered low. Some people are even more ruthless, printing materials that have nothing to do with the college entrance exam."
Zhou Mingli opened the bag, inside were booklets, each about three centimeters thick, neatly stacked together, still smelling of ink, clearly recently printed.
Jiang Ci looked at the booklet with the neatly printed words "College Entrance Examination Review Materials".
“I went to the bookstore and saw that all the materials related to the college entrance examination were sold out. There were also many people standing around the bookstore asking when the new college entrance examination materials would arrive. Wenyun helped me find someone to print these hundreds of copies, and I will be able to sell them all in less than three days.”
Zhou Mingli brought out the booklet.
Jiang Ci picked up a book and looked at it.
The idea of selling college entrance exam review materials started after Zhou Mingli returned.
He met with Shen Conghe and chatted for a long time, and surprisingly persuaded Shen Conghe to agree to print and sell the materials given to Jiang Ci.
Zhou Mingli told Jiang Ci that he and Shen Conghe would split the profits 30/70.
Shen Conghe was responsible for providing the materials, while Zhou Mingli was responsible for collecting the money for printing and selling.
After reaching an agreement, he went to Cheng Wenyun again and persuaded Cheng Wenyun to help him keep an eye out for printing factories.
Small factories don't take on many jobs, so in order to meet their performance targets, they will naturally take on some side jobs on the side, as long as their superiors don't find out.
After all this maneuvering, Zhou Mingli finally obtained nearly three hundred college entrance examination review materials.
"You're going tomorrow?" Jiang Ci asked, sitting in her chair without getting up, watching him move his things.
Zhou Mingli nodded. "Tomorrow is the weekend, let's see how many we can sell."
Jiang Ci said, "Then I'll go with you."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Mingli looked at her.
Jiang Ci raised an eyebrow. "What? Can't I sell these things?"
"No." Zhou Mingli put his review materials on the table and said, "There are less than two months until the college entrance exam. How far have you gotten in your review?"
Jiang Ci gritted her teeth and said angrily, "Damn Zhou Mingli!"
Zhou Mingli chuckled softly, walked up to her and tried to kiss her on the corner of her mouth, but Jiang Ci slapped him away.
He still refused to give up, and insisted on kissing her as he hugged her waist.
"You should study hard. I'm used to selling things."
Jiang Ci declared, "Next time, even if you beg me, I still won't go!"
Zhou Mingli took the opportunity to steal another bite, rubbed her lower back, and went out to cook with a smile.
The next morning, Zhou Mingli took fifty booklets, put them in his bag, and rode his bicycle away from home.
High school students certainly don't lack this kind of material, but Zhou Mingli still came to the school gate.
Generally, students have gone home for the holidays, and there shouldn't be anyone at the school gate. However, there were quite a few people loitering around the school gate this time.
Shao Yishan is one of them.
He was a sent-down youth who had been working in the countryside for nearly five years. He had finally returned to the city, but his older brother had taken over the room that was originally his because he got married and had a child. Nearly a year after returning to the city, the sent-down youth office thought he was too weak and had not arranged a job for him.
When he got home, his parents didn't care about him. They just said, "Yishan, your parents want to help you, but your older brother and sister-in-law support us now. We are... willing but unable to help."
Shao Yishan could only find odd jobs on his own, or sneak off to the countryside to get eggs, rice, or flour to sell in the city.
Having saved up some money, Shao Yishan's mind started racing when the higher authorities announced the resumption of the college entrance examination. He wanted to take the exam.
