The New Year of 1982 was much more lively than ever before.
Zhou Miao, with a serious expression, ran out with Zhou Yang, only to run into an acquaintance at the door.
Zhou Yang exclaimed, "Big Brother Zhu! Second Brother Zhu!"
That's right, the two people standing at the entrance are Dazhu and Erzhu.
The two children, who were almost nine years old, immediately surrounded them.
Five years have passed, and Dazhu has grown into a handsome young man. He is wearing dark blue cotton trousers, a clean shirt and a padded coat on his upper body. Although he is dressed in bulky clothes, it does not affect the fact that he is a tall and handsome man of 1.8 meters.
Dazhu, carrying a bag on his shoulder, patted Zhou Yang on the shoulder and said, "Are your parents home? My dad came to Beijing to deliver goods, and I'm going home with him on the way. They've prepared a lot of things at home to bring to Beijing, and they want me to deliver them here."
Erzhu was only fifteen when he picked up Zhou Yang, and the two boys, who were quite far apart in age, grinned foolishly.
Zhou Miao was more mature than Zhou Yang. She looked up at Da Zhu and said, "Mom and Dad went to Uncle Cheng's house and will be back in a while."
“Brother Zheyue isn’t home either. Brother Dazhu, why don’t you and Brother Erzhu come inside?” Zhou Miao greeted the guests with the air of a little adult.
Brother Yu's family had visited Beijing once before, seven or eight years ago.
Brother Yu got a job delivering goods to Beijing. He went to the address Jiang Ci wrote down and finally made contact with Zhou Mingli's family.
The truck driver traveled between the two places, and Brother Yu and Zhou Mingli secretly acquired some goods that were unavailable in both places and sold them in Beijing and Zhongmo Town. With this back-and-forth trading, Brother Yu's family savings increased significantly, and their lives improved.
With the successful pilot implementation of the household contract responsibility system and its vigorous promotion nationwide, Brother Yu's family finally had land, giving them even more hope for the future.
Last year, when Dazhu took the college entrance exam, Brother Yu specially took his exam paper and, after arriving in Beijing, asked Jiang Ci, who graduated from the law school of Peking University and also obtained a double master's degree in international relations and diplomacy, to help him review the paper.
Jiang Ci wrote a telegram to Dazhu, instructing him to focus on studying the types of questions that frequently appear in the college entrance examination over the years. She also suggested that he apply to a university in Beijing, avoiding currently popular majors and instead applying for less popular ones, so that he could be transferred to another major after being admitted.
Dazhu listened to Jiang Ci's advice and successfully passed the entrance exam for a university in Beijing last year. When he first came to Beijing, his brother's family helped him, and they were all smiles. When they saw Jiang Ci, they grabbed her hand, not knowing how to thank her.
They practically blew Jiangci's reputation off the charts.
Jiang Cidu was both amused and exasperated.
She only offered some suggestions; Dazhu was able to get into Beijing because he was willing to study.
Dazhu was in Beijing, and he often visited the Zhou family. As a result, the already strained relationship between the two families grew even stronger.
Dazhu often comes over. He puts the things his father brought in the kitchen, and Zhou Miao has already poured warm water for Dazhu.
"Brother Dazhu, why didn't Uncle Yu come? Are you leaving today? Brother Erzhu, you've come all this way, why don't you stay a couple more days?" Zhou Miao asked curiously, sitting on a bench.
Dazhu finished his water in a few gulps and said, "My dad went to deliver goods. In the past two years, more and more houses have been built in Beijing. Our area is near the mountains, and the quarry is doing well. My dad doesn't dare to delay his work."
He glanced at his younger brother, who was still laughing with Zhou Yang, and said, "He's already happy for half a year by being able to come out this time during his winter break, so we don't have time to let him stay any longer."
Zhou Miao sighed, "If only your family could move to Beijing, then you wouldn't have to travel back and forth so much. Brother Dazhu, you can't even come home for the National Day holiday, it's so sad!"
Dazhu was amused by her innocent words and took out two bookmarks from his pocket. "Didn't you say last month that your classmate's brother bought some really nice bookmarks at a bookstore near my school? Is this one?"
Zhou Miao exclaimed "Wow!" and took it. "This is it! Thank you, Brother Dazhu!"
Zhou Miao happily flipped the bookmark over and over in her hands, looking at it again and again.
But when she smiled, she revealed her missing front tooth, and embarrassed, she changed her big laugh to a pursed-lip smile.
This series of moves made Da Zhu laugh out loud twice.
Miao Miao has grown up and is now aware of her love for beauty.
There were no adults at home, so Dazhu didn't stay any longer. He stood up and said, "Then Erzhu and I will go back first. If you're going out to play, remember to close all the doors and windows. There have been a lot of thieves around lately."
"Also, when you go out and see strangers, you are not allowed to talk to them, and you should never accept anything from strangers. There are quite a few kidnappers these days!"
Zhou Miao nodded and said seriously, "Don't worry, Brother Dazhu, our parents taught us how to avoid being kidnapped since we were little! We won't be fooled!"
"And Sister Xiaohuai will be here soon. She's really powerful now, so we're not afraid at all!"
After Zhou Miao finished speaking, she suddenly remembered something, "Oh right! Mom said you were going home for winter vacation, and she prepared some things for you to take back with you!"
She quickly opened the door to her parents' bedroom, opened one of the drawers, took out a box, and gave it to Dazhu. "This is from Mom. She said there's still your New Year's money inside!"
Dazhu chuckled. He was already eighteen; why would he need any New Year's money?
However, he accepted the answer, saying, "Okay, I understand."
Once outside, Dazhu called out to Erzhu, "Erzhu! Let's go back!"
Erzhu stuffed the things Zhou Yang gave him into his pocket and said, "Then I'm off!"
Zhou Yang said reluctantly, "Brother Erzhu, you must come again in the future!"
"Don't worry, I'll definitely come to take my older brother to school!"
The answer to Erzhu was a slap from Dazhu.
Dazhu pressed Erzhu's head down and said to Zhou Yang, "Don't be naughty."
