The family, who were fighting like dogs, were taken by Huang Zheyue to eat in a place opposite to the Zhou family's.
While he was trying to reconcile the "eldest uncle" and the "youngest uncle," he was also subtly undermining their relationship.
With Jiang's mother in charge and the two sharing common interests, they temporarily suppressed their anger.
Huang Zheyue took them to eat roast duck.
During their stay in Beijing, Jiang's mother only fed them the simplest food, which was mostly dry and lacked oil.
Huang Zheyue saw that the roast duck had just been served and tried to grab it, so she quickly grabbed two duck legs for herself.
Jiang's mother glared at him fiercely.
While biting into a duck leg, Huang Zheyue said with a smile, "Grandma Jiang, Uncle and Second Uncle, don't be shy with me, eat up!"
When Jiang Xiaodi is at home, the best piece of meat is definitely his.
I never expected that this kid would be so quick as to snatch away two duck legs...
Jiang Xiaodi was also very angry.
Huang Zheyue took a bite out of each of the two duck legs, declaring her ownership of them.
Jiang Xiaodi was furious.
Jiang's mother calmed herself down, deciding not to argue with this immature boy.
She said, "Where do my daughter and your uncle live now? We can't come to Beijing and not even know where her family lives, can we?"
Huang Zheyue stared at her intently, then suddenly said, "Grandma Jiang, you wouldn't be thinking of staying at my house, would you?"
Originally, I just wanted to find a place first, then send the child there, and then slowly move the whole family there.
Like cockroaches in damp, shady places in the south, you can't find a trace of them when they don't show themselves.
But once you find it, it means that your house is full of cockroaches.
Jiang's mother's idea had barely taken shape when Huang Zheyue called it out.
She still had her pride. She could ask her daughter for things, but if her son-in-law's nephew found out about her thoughts, who knew if that little brat would tell her son-in-law!
Jiang's mother forced a smile, "Why would I want to live in your house?"
"We're all relatives, and we help each other out. I never thought about staying at a relative's house."
Huang Zheyue breathed a long sigh of relief and said with a smile, "I knew Grandma Jiang was the most sensible one."
"All of you combined are almost more than my family. If you were to live in my house, it wouldn't be big enough for everyone."
His gaze shifted to Brother Jiang and Brother Jiang, and he said with a smile, "Besides, since both of you are so capable, it's not appropriate for you to stay at your son-in-law's house."
Huang Zheyue's face was full of genuine smiles. "Right?"
You little brat, you little bastard, laughing so hard your gums are showing, are you just showing off how white your teeth are!
Jiang's mother cursed Huang Zheyue in her heart again.
None of the people present answered Huang Zheyue's question.
Very silent.
A sharp glint flashed in Huang Zheyue's eyes.
They really are eyeing the house.
They have a very thick skin.
Huang Zheyue seemed oblivious to their silence and continued talking with a smile.
After dinner, Huang Zheyue had the restaurant order half a roast duck and gave it to Jiang's mother, telling her to take it home and eat it that night.
Half a duck.
You should know that Huang Zheyue just ordered a roast duck!
He showed off two duck legs, and there wasn't enough room left for four people to eat!
Jiang's mother doted on her son, so she pulled Jiang's sister-in-law back and wouldn't let her eat. Almost all the remaining roast duck ended up in the mouths of Jiang's older brother and younger brother.
Sister-in-law Jiang watched helplessly as Brother Jiang ate all by himself, without even glancing at her, and her eyes turned red with anger.
Huang Zheyue had just handed the half roast duck she was holding to Jiang's mother.
Jiang Xiaodi rushed forward and broke off the duck leg that no one had touched.
"I'm still not full, so this duck leg is mine!"
Jiang's mother indulged him, smiling as she let him eat.
Brother Jiang stared intently at Brother Jiang, took a deep breath, and remained silent.
Huang Zheyue watched Jiang Xiaodi eat with a smile, and then escorted them back to the guesthouse.
After glancing at the name of the guesthouse, Huang Zheyue memorized the place.
Jiang's mother kept a close eye on Huang Zheyue, and as soon as they entered the guesthouse, she tried to grab him to settle their bill for staying there.
How clever is Huang Zheyue? Before Jiang's mother even touched him, Huang Zheyue slipped away like a gust of wind, giving her no chance at all.
Jiang's mother stared wide-eyed as Huang Zheyue left so easily, her anger simmering, not knowing where to vent it!
"Damn little brat! Slippery as a finger!"
"Why don't you just die!"
Jiang's mother cursed as she walked toward the guesthouse.
The receptionist at the guesthouse stared at them and said, "You've been here for three days already, and it's almost time for the period stated in your letter of introduction. When are you going to pay?"
"Hurry up, hurry up! Are you fucking collecting debts?!" Jiang's mother vented her pent-up anger on the receptionist.
A girl from Beijing isn't someone who can be scolded to tears with just a few words.
Instead of crying, the receptionist slammed her hand on the table and stood up abruptly. "What are you doing, acting so tough! You think you're right to stay in a guesthouse without paying!"
"I've given you so many days' grace, and you still think I'm being generous!"
"I'm telling you! If you don't pay your rent today, I'll have the security department throw you all out!"
Oh dear, this Beijing girl works as a receptionist at the guesthouse; she has quite a temper.
Jiang's mother only dared to be so arrogant in that alley in Nanshi, a place full of acquaintances. But when she arrived in Beijing, she was yelled at like that by a receptionist, and she completely cowered.
Her lips moved slightly, and she stammered, "When did I say I wouldn't pay? How can you be so shameless?"
The receptionist laughed angrily, "Then please settle your room bill right now, ma'am!"
