Jiang Ci went home in the afternoon. Today is the weekend, so Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao didn't go to school. After finishing their homework in the morning, they played with their friends near the courtyard.
Jiang Ci watched them having fun from afar, smiled, and didn't go over to disturb the group of children. She went inside.
Zhou Mingli's factory was just starting out, and he had a lot to do. For several days, he would come back at one or two in the morning, sleep for less than four hours, and then leave again before dawn.
One night, Zhou Mingli didn't get home until 2:30 a.m.
Before she could speak to him, Zhou Mingli fell asleep, exhausted, holding her in his arms.
Around 5 a.m., he got up again, full of energy.
Jiang Ci woke up and saw him running back and forth between home and the TV factory. She told him that if he was busy with work, he could sleep at the factory. She would keep an eye on things at home and nothing would happen.
After hearing this, Zhou Mingli stared at her intently. Just as Jiang Ci was about to raise her hand to slap him, Zhou Mingli opened his arms and hugged her tightly.
"It's only been a few years, and you're already starting to get annoyed with me?"
Jiang Ci was speechless. "I'm doing this for your sake."
All this back and forth is just tormenting him.
Zhou Mingli pecked at her face repeatedly, then took a deep breath on her neck, almost whispering, "I'm happy to do it, don't worry about it."
Jiang Ci kicked him away, and she didn't care that he wasn't surnamed Jiang anymore!
After that, no matter how late Zhou Mingli came back, Jiang Ci stopped caring about him.
As evening approached, Jiang Ci prepared dinner. Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao went home at the appointed time, washed their hands and faces, and helped Jiang Ci serve the food.
"Mom, have our grandma and uncle come to Beijing?" Zhou Miao asked Jiang Ci curiously, holding her chopsticks.
Jiang Ci raised an eyebrow and turned to look at her. "How did you know?"
“Zhong Erdi’s father from the next compound told us this when he picked him up from school.”
Zhou Yang nodded, "Mom, why haven't we seen Grandma and Uncle before? Why don't they come to our house when they come?"
Jiang Ci noted down the name, pondered for a moment, and said, "Do you remember Zhang Xiaohua, the girl in your class?"
The two children, of course, remembered her and quickly nodded, "We remember!"
Zhang Xiaohua's family situation is very similar to Jiang's. Zhang Xiaohua is a former educated youth who returned to Beijing with her mother. Every time her grandparents come to her house, they stay for half a month and take food and gifts with them when they leave.
Sometimes they would even bring Zhang Xiaohua's cousins.
Her cousin was a beast; he had a pedophile habit. When he came to stay at Zhang Xiaohua's house, he started targeting her.
If Zhang Xiaohua's mother hadn't come back unexpectedly and seen Zhang Xiaohua's cousin taking off Zhang Xiaohua's pants, that beast would have almost raped Zhang Xiaohua.
Zhang Xiaohua's mother went mad and chopped off Zhang Xiaohua's cousin's hand with a knife. Not only did she drive Zhang Xiaohua's cousin away, but she also drove away Zhang Xiaohua's grandparents.
Of course, what follows is not something two children should hear.
Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao only knew that Zhang Xiaohua's uncles, aunts, uncles, grandparents and grandparents were not good people.
Jiang Ci ordered some food and said slowly, "If I said that your maternal grandmothers and uncles are the same as Zhang Xiaohua's paternal grandparents and uncles, would you still want them to come to our house?"
Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao were stunned.
Zhou Miao frowned slightly. "Is Grandma really the same as Zhang Xiaohua's grandparents?"
Zhou Yang looked up and said, "The teacher said, seeing is believing, hearing is deceiving."
Hearing this, Jiang Ci was not angry. Instead, she laughed and said, "Very good. You are already able to stick to your own views based on other people's stories. You have a great spirit of learning from practice."
Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao exchanged a glance and puffed out their small chests.
“Your brother Chen Ting will be off next week, so let him take you to the hospital.”
"ah!?"
They both instinctively covered their arms.
Jiang Ci chuckled.
In a few days, Jiang Ci will take Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao to see how Jiang's mother's family is behaving, and the Jiang family's situation is also a mess.
Jiang Xiaodi blinded Jiang Dage in one eye, and Jiang Dage's wife pushed Jiang's mother until she fainted.
The two ended up in the hospital, and Jiang's sister-in-law and younger brother were taken to the police station. Now, only Jiang's younger brother's wife remains in the Jiang family.
She also had to take care of three children, attend to Jiang's mother at the hospital, and keep an eye on Jiang's older brother.
She was completely exhausted.
Jiang's wife felt resentful as she stared at the man lying on the hospital bed, showing no signs of waking up.
The person who should be serving Jiang's mother is her own daughter, Jiang Ci. Why should she always be the one taking care of her?
Jiang's younger brother's wife complained all the while taking care of Jiang's mother rather carelessly.
When Jiang's mother and elder brother woke up, it was already three days later.
At the police station, Sister-in-law Jiang would never forgive her younger brother for causing her older brother to lose an eye, and her younger brother would never forgive Sister-in-law Jiang for harming their mother. The two of them were unable to leave the police station.
Jiang's mother was in a much worse state. She injured her spine, and due to Jiang's younger brother's wife's mistaken movement of her body while caring for her, Jiang's mother was unable to move her lower body.
When Jiang's mother heard the doctor say that she couldn't move, she got so angry that she started shouting and cursing again, calling Jiang's sister-in-law a viper and Jiang's younger brother's wife a useless piece of trash.
In her eyes, everyone except her beloved youngest son was a bad person.
Brother Jiang was lying in the next bed, and his two sons were sitting beside him with their heads down.
Brother Jiang was heartbroken and remained silent with his eyes closed, oblivious to the burning anger in his eldest son's eyes.
"That damned bitch! I truly regret letting my eldest son marry her! She's ruined my life! I'll make her sit on that fence for the rest of her life!"
