Suddenly, Jiang Ci heard a faint sobbing sound.
She thought she had misheard, so she turned over, but the suppressed sobs became even clearer.
Jiang Ci opened her eyes, half-stood up and looked over, and saw that the person crying was Zhou Miao.
She leaned closer, frowning as she asked, "Why are you crying?"
Zhou Miao cried so hard she could barely breathe, her voice weak, "Waaah... Mother... it hurts..."
pain?
Jiang Ci immediately grabbed her forearm, but it felt very hot.
Jiang Ci quickly asked, "Where does it hurt?"
Zhou Miao couldn't pinpoint where the pain was, but her crying only intensified.
Jiang Ci touched her head; it was alarmingly hot.
Jiang Ci immediately realized that the person was in pain due to a fever. Without thinking further, Jiang Ci picked up the person and glanced at Zhou Yang, who was sleeping soundly on his back.
She patted Zhou Yang's little bottom and said, "Your little sister has a fever. I'm taking her to the clinic. You stay home and sleep well. Don't run around."
Zhou Yang, whether he heard or not, rolled over and continued sleeping with his butt sticking up.
Jiang Ci frowned, feeling uneasy about letting Zhou Yang sleep here alone. After carrying the child out of the house, she went to Yu's house.
A man opened the door.
He frowned, "Who is it?"
“Brother Yu, this is Jiang Ci.” Jiang Ci explained briefly, “Miao Miao has a fever, and I need to take her to the clinic. I’m worried about leaving Yang Yang at home alone. Could you please come to my house and keep an eye on Yang Yang for me?”
The man who saw clearly, known as Big Brother Yu, glanced at Zhou Miao who was crying in Jiang Ci's arms.
"Okay, you go ahead, I'll go and keep an eye on things."
"Thank you, Brother Yu!"
Jiang Ci thanked him quickly and without further ado, rushed to the medical station in the dark holding Zhou Miao in her arms.
The doctors and educated youth at the clinic all lived here. Surprisingly, the lights in the clinic were still on. Jiang Ci didn't observe carefully and rushed in, shouting, "Doctor, my daughter has a fever!"
Under the light, the doctor was bandaging a man covered in blood. The man was still awake. Even though his body was covered with wounds, he endured the pain without making a sound while being cleaned.
Hearing the noise, the man raised his eyes and looked towards the door.
Jiang Ci met the man's gaze, paused in her steps, and stopped abruptly.
The man sat up abruptly from the hospital bed.
