"I can!"
The group looked at each other, at a loss for words. They couldn't force the stubborn boy, so they could only let the five of them start patrolling.
The captain was still shouting from behind, "No trouble! Zhou Lao Er! Did you hear me!"
Xia Lei, Zhao Wei, and Er Zhuang silently looked at Zhou Mingli.
Zhou Mingli: "..."
He casually lifted his foot and walked forward, as if the conversation wasn't about him at all.
The group of five began patrolling near the threshing ground. Because the militia member was in poor health, the only flashlight ended up in Xia Lei's hands.
He was honest and reliable, and Zhao Wei and Er Zhuang trusted him more.
Zhou Mingli didn't need to take on any responsibility, so he was happy to have some peace and quiet. He glanced in the direction of his home, but the houses of varying heights blocked his view, and he couldn't see anything in the darkness.
The grove is located on the left side of the threshing ground. About fifty meters further out, there is a pond. The grove is near the pond, where people often stay to cool off and chat after finishing their farm work.
It's very dark inside. If someone with ill intentions were hiding there, it would be quite easy for them to slip away unnoticed by the patrols and quietly slip into the threshing ground. So this is also a place that the patrol teams pass by.
Zhao Wei's gaze kept falling on Zhou Mingli, and he was in a bit of a dilemma.
Widow Wang told him to take Zhou Mingli to the grove, but he hadn't spoken to Zhou Mingli at all. If he suddenly started talking to Zhou Mingli, wouldn't that seem very abrupt?
Zhao Wei racked his brains trying to come up with an excuse, but suddenly realized that his pace was getting slower and slower.
Zhao Wei looked up at the militiamen at the front.
He was seized by a sudden inspiration and silently placed his hand on his stomach.
Zhou Mingli was right behind him, and Zhao Wei staggered, groaning softly.
Zhou Mingli glanced at him and asked, "What's wrong?"
"I...I have a stomachache." Zhao Wei frowned, looking uncomfortable. "I need to go to the toilet."
Upon hearing this, Erzhuang said, "Why didn't you go earlier? We've already gone so far. Running back and forth would be such a waste of time!"
Zhao Wei was a little embarrassed, "I... I can't control myself when it comes to these things..."
Xia Lei shone a flashlight on him, then looked at the militiamen, "You all want to go?"
The militiaman, who had been suffering from diarrhea, shook his head when Xia Lei asked, "We can't slow down our patrol. If he wants to go, he can make do in the grove over there for a while. We'll catch up with him as soon as possible."
Xia Lei said honestly, "No, I just heard your comrade say that you've been having diarrhea all day. You can't hold it in any longer."
"Zhao Wei, why don't you two help each other across?"
Zhao Wei also swayed precariously, "I...I can't support him by myself! I can't hold my breath any longer, I can't stand up straight!"
Zhao Wei was afraid that Xia Lei would go to Er Zhuang, so he turned to Zhou Mingli and said, "Zhou Lao Er, why don't you go and help the militia comrade? I, I can hold on a little longer."
Xia Lei glanced at Zhao Wei.
I took another look at Zhou Mingli.
I've figured something out.
He was happy to see Zhou Mingli fall; if Zhou Mingli suffered, Jiang Ci would suffer too.
Xia Lei went to check on the militiamen. "What do you think? I have some martial arts skills, and thieves can't easily deal with me. I can go ahead with Erzhuang first, and you can follow when you see the flashlight beam."
The militiamen couldn't hold back any longer. Hearing Xia Lei's words, they realized he was also a trained fighter, so they nodded and said, "Okay, then we'll catch up as soon as we're done."
Xia Lei had no intention of seeking Zhou Mingli's opinion at all. After making a decision, he called out to Erzhuang, and the two of them walked forward first.
Zhou Mingli's gaze was deep as he glanced at Xia Lei, then calmly stepped forward to support the militiaman and asked, "Are you alright?"
"I...I can't take it anymore, I'm about to poop..."
Zhao Wei immediately said from the side, "Hurry up, hurry up."
Zhou Mingli helped the militiaman into the grove. The militiaman was in so much pain that he couldn't speak, and almost all of his weight fell on Zhou Mingli.
Zhao Wei said, "Let's go a little further in."
The trees in the grove completely obscured the stars in the sky, making it pitch black.
Zhao Wei was already used to doing this kind of thing, sneaking into the woods. He deliberately raised his voice, "Over here, over here."
Upon hearing Zhao Wei's voice, Widow Wang, who had been hiding in the woods, immediately perked up!
It's finally here!
You should know that she had been hiding here for a long time. Because she was afraid of being spotted by the patrolmen, she didn't dare to go outside. She just stayed in one place, waiting for Zhao Wei to give her a signal.
Widow Wang raised her head and headed toward the source of the sound.
It was too dark in the woods; you couldn't see anyone at all.
But Zhao Wei and Zhou Mingli are definitely in it!
"Zhao Zhiqing, if we go any further in, we'll reach the pond. Shall we stay here?"
"It's good to be near the pond, so we can wash our hands with the water."
"Alright, I'll do as you say."
Zhou Mingli, seemingly lacking in his own opinions, quickly obeyed Zhao Wei's words.
Widow Wang was overjoyed, knowing where they were going, and immediately followed.
The militiaman had long been fed up. He patted Zhou Mingli, unable to utter a word, and could only gesture for him to let go of him.
He decided to settle it here.
Zhou Mingli silently loosened his belt, letting the militiamen begin to unbuckle their waistbands, while he followed Zhao Wei.
Zhao Wei said to Zhou Mingli, "We'll stay right here."
Zhou Mingli gave a vague reply.
Zhao Wei didn't actually want to go to the toilet, but he used it as an excuse to loosen his belt and pretend to need to defecate.
Zhou Mingli, however, gently stepped back, retreating quite a distance.
Widow Wang clearly heard where the sound was coming from, and walked over in the dark, her hands reaching out and grabbing at her surroundings.
Suddenly, she touched someone's arm!
Widow Wang perked up. Even without hearing the man speak, she knew it was Zhao Wei. She lowered her voice as if to confirm, "Zhao Wei? Where's Zhou Lao Er?"
Zhou Mingli suppressed the urge to throw Widow Wang away, and, imitating Zhao Wei's voice, said simply, "Ahead."
"Xiao Zhao, thank you so much! I'll definitely repay you in the future!"
Zhou Mingli pulled his arm out and stepped back.
Overjoyed that her plan had succeeded, and not being particularly shrewd herself, Widow Wang happily headed towards the pond.
Zhou Mingli returned to the militiaman's side in the same direction and said in a low voice, "I found you something to wipe yourself down."
The militiaman was very grateful, his voice weak and soft, "Thank you, you're such a good comrade."
Zhou Mingli also said, "It's nothing."
The militiaman couldn't pass anything, but his stomach hurt a lot and he felt the urge to defecate. After a short while, he stood up.
He was pulling up his pants when he suddenly heard a woman's sweet, coquettish voice, "You rascal, you have no idea how long I've been waiting for you~ You've finally arrived~"
militia:"?"
What's going on here?
