Chapter 385 The First Flower in Life

Chapter 385 The First Flower in Life

Ning Xiyue closed her eyes tightly, and as she was about to fall asleep, she seemed to vaguely remember that she had not been in to the fully automatic slaughterhouse since she signed in, and she hadn't slaughtered any pigs for two days.

But my eyelids couldn't hold up, my body was too lazy to move, and my consciousness was groggy.

Forget it. Today is the first hour of the New Year. It’s not advisable to stay up too late or to bleed. I’ll find a chance tomorrow.

I put the thought behind my head and fell asleep in a few seconds.

The little turtle covered her shoulders with the quilt corner, then lay back on the pillow and closed his eyes.

The next morning, Ning Xiyue woke up to the sound of firecrackers.

The sound of firecrackers in every household started at five o'clock in the morning and the sound never stopped.

At five o'clock, when she heard the first sound of firecrackers, she struggled to cover her ears with a pillow, and curled up in the quilt, trying to get a little more sleep.

Fortunately, there were no residents around the Youth League Courtyard and it was a little distance away from other households in the brigade, so the penetrating power of the firecrackers, no matter how strong or loud they were, was weakened when they were transmitted.

Staying in bed like this allowed her to sleep for an extra hour, intermittently.

It was not until six o'clock that most of the team members started setting off firecrackers. The combined sounds of so many firecrackers made the sound different. The sound was deafening and she could not cover her ears no matter how hard she covered them.

When the sound of firecrackers rang out in the Youth League Home, she was completely awakened by the firecrackers. She sat up with her messy hair, was stunned for a moment, yawned, and then slowly put on her clothes.

She felt relieved when she saw Chen Yetu, who had sat up behind her behind the curtain next to her and was still leaning against the wall in a daze.

She was not the last one to get up, as she had a roommate who kept her company so late.

When she finished putting on her clothes and got off the kang, Chen Yechu closed his mind and started to put on his clothes and tidy himself up.

"Xiyue, what are your plans for today?"

When Ning Xiyue was folding the quilt, Chen Yechu asked in a slightly hoarse voice.

"I don't have any big plans. It's so cold, so I'll just play inside and then go to the captain's house. What about you?"

Chen Yechu smoothed the messy hair on his face and said, "I'm going to town to mail a letter. If you want to buy anything, I can bring it back for you."

"There's nothing I want to buy, but you reminded me that I have to go check this afternoon to see if there are any packages and letters for me. They should be arriving soon."

Ning Xiyue greeted Chen Yechu, folded the quilt, hung the curtain, picked up the thermos and carried the washbasin out.

The cold outside cannot be dispelled even by firecrackers.

Suddenly walking out of the warm house made Ning Xiyue shiver.

"Phew, it's so cold."

Ning Qingyuan was about to turn to the kitchen when he heard a familiar voice and took a few steps back and shouted, "Sister, I'm going to make dumplings, what are you going to eat?"

"I eat wontons." Ning Xiyue heard the voice and looked over to see her second brother and answered without thinking.

"Okay, I'll go cook it now, come over after you finish washing up."

Ning Qingyuan waved and ran to the kitchen.

"Xiyue, Happy New Year." Tang Xiaohu, who was squatting at the edge of the yard, turned around and waved with a smile.

"Happy New Year." Ning Xiyue saw her squatting where the firecrackers were set off, picking up things, and asked with a knowing smile, "You're picking up firecrackers again, getting up so early."

"I was so excited about the New Year that I couldn't sleep. Look, I found a small cannon."

Tang Xiaohu handed over a cannon that had not exploded and was still usable to Ning Xiyue to see as if he were presenting a treasure.

"That's amazing." Ning Xiyue was washing her face with the kettle in her hand, praising her in a tone as if she was praising a child.

This was very useful to Tang Xiaohu. He ran over with a cannon in his hand, split it into two, handed one to her, and said happily: "I'll give you half."

Ning Xiyue saw her expectant face looking at her and did not refuse. She turned her body sideways, raised the hand holding the handkerchief, and exposed her pocket in front of her.

Tang Xiaohu smiled with his two little fangs showing, and immediately put the cannon in his hand into his pocket.

Ning Xiyue thanked him: "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Go pick some more. There are still some that haven't exploded yet."

After Tang Xiaohu finished speaking, he ran to the location where the cannons were set off and started picking up the cannons.

Happiness is so simple. Tang Xiaohu’s happiness now is the cannon that he is looking for with all his heart.

Ning Xiyue withdrew her gaze, washed up quickly, put her things away, wrapped her clothes tightly, and ran to the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Ning Qingyuan was opening the lid of the pot and putting dumplings into the pot.

"Sister, you came at the right time. The water has just boiled. What filling do you want to eat?"

"I want to eat seafood wontons with shrimp meat." Ning Xiyue said and sat down beside the warm stove to light the fire.

"Okay, I'll sprinkle some shrimps then."

The round dumplings and wontons were bubbling in the pot and were cooked in a short while.

Ning Qingyuan held the bowl with wonton dumplings and said, "Little sister, wash your hands and eat."

Finish breakfast.

Ning Qingyuan went to the town post office to see if the packages and letters sent by Comrade Ji and his elder brother had arrived.

Ning Xiyue stuffed candies, melon seeds, peanuts and snacks into her bag, then carried three bags of pastries to the captain's house to wish him a happy new year and keep in touch with him. The captain would be troubled by many things in the second half of the year, such as the college entrance examination and returning to the city, so he had to improve his interpersonal relationships and moving around was essential.

The team was quite lively everywhere, with many children playing and fighting on the road, and many people visiting to wish a happy new year.

On the way back from visiting the team leader, Aunt Yang Liu, Aunt Qiu Ju, and Uncle An Guo's families, Ning Xiyue met Goudan, who was visiting other families with his friends.

Zhang Xiaogang, the grandson of the captain, took the lead and the others followed him. The five children wore clean, new and festive coats with two large pockets in front of them. One of the pockets was already bulging. It was obvious that they had gained a lot and were happy to pay New Year's greetings.

When the five children saw her, they were not afraid that she would take out the syringe to give her an injection, and they happily gathered around her to wish her a happy new year.

With their little mouths grinning and smiling faces, they surrounded Ning Xiyue, clasped their fists, and shouted in unison: "Sister Xiyue, Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year to you too. Come, hold your pockets tight and I'll give you some candy."

Ning Xiyue took out the candies she had prepared in advance from her bag and stuffed three candies, a handful of melon seeds and a handful of peanuts into their pockets for each person.

When the children saw their pockets were full, they were extremely happy. They grinned with satisfaction and shouted crisply, "Thank you, Sister Xiyue."

Ning Xiyue waved her hand: "You're welcome, go play."

"Goodbye, Sister Xiyue."

The five friends bowed politely before leaving and walked happily to the next house.

Xiao Gou Dan ran a few steps and ran back to Ning Xiyue.

"Why is Xiaogoudan back?" Ning Xiyue asked softly, touching the fluffy hat on his head.

Xiao Gou Dan looked at Ning Xiyue with a determined look: "Sister Xiyue, please extend your hand."

Ning Xiyue suddenly became a little curious, and stretched out her hand in front of him after hearing what he said.

Goudan smiled sweetly, took out something from his trouser pocket and put it in Ning Xiyue's hand.

Ning Xiyue saw in her hand a flower folded from a new palm leaf.

"Sister Xiyue, this New Year's gift for you is made by Goudan himself." Goudan looked into Ning Xiyue's eyes with a bright smile.

"Thank you, Goudan. I really like the flowers you gave me."

Ning Xiyue held the flowers in her hand and looked at them, feeling warm in her heart.

"Goudan, let's go." Gangzi found that Goudan did not follow him, so he turned around and shouted in front.

"I'm coming. Wait for me." Goudan responded and waved to Ning Xiyue hurriedly: "Goodbye, Sister Xiyue."

After saying that, he ran towards the children quickly.

Ning Xiyue looked at the child walking away and smiled while holding the flowers in her hand.

This boy's love is not in vain. At such a young age, he still knows to give her a New Year gift.

Ning Xiyue folded the leaves in her hand into small flowers and placed them on the bookshelf in the study in the space.

The first flower in her life was actually given to her by Xiao Gou Dan, so she had to keep it well.
