Chapter 8: There’s more melon than the whole family can eat!
Qin Qin's expression suddenly changed.
Ruan Yuntang suddenly covered his mouth, as if he had said something he shouldn't have, and waved his hands hastily, "Nothing, I didn't say anything."
Qin Qin carefully examined her expression. Suddenly, he thought of something and his face turned pale. He grabbed her tightly and asked, "What do you mean?"
"It's nothing, she is my father's cousin after all." Ruan Yuntang's eyes flashed and he brushed her hand away.
Qin Qin's face turned even worse.
Shen Weian was on good terms with the Yang family because Yang Xian was his cousin, but she didn't realize how close the two cousins were.
Yang Xian is a man of few words and is always silent. He and Shen Weian always have a distant relationship like a superior and a subordinate. On the contrary, his wife He Yirou interacts with them a lot.
Shen Weian always said that it was hard for his cousin's wife to raise two children alone, and asked her to help more.
She had always felt that Shen Weian was too good to the Yang family, and she could only regard it as a close relationship between cousins.
Could it be that there really is something fishy going on between him and He Yirou?
Qin Qin stared at Shen Weian in the distance, suspicion rising in her heart, and she clenched her fingers tightly.
Ruan Yuntang smiled and comforted:
"Aunt Qin, don't think too much. My father is just close to my cousin. As soon as I said those jewellery were for Aunt He, he agreed and even bought more gifts for her."
As soon as she finished speaking, Qin Qin's nail suddenly broke on the palm of her hand, and her expression was distorted with pain.
"Shen Weian!" Qin Qin suddenly strode over.
Shen Wei'an was just trying to win the favor of the police. He looked up impatiently when he heard the sound and asked, "What are you yelling about?"
"Come up with me, I have something to ask you." Qin Qin pretended to be gentle and virtuous for so many years, but in fact she still had a bad temper.
Shen Weian has been a master for so many years, how could he be ordered around by a woman? "Stay aside, wait until I'm done with my work!"
Qin Qin was immediately annoyed, but she also understood that she had to give him face in public, so she suppressed her anger and said, "Then I'll wait for you upstairs. Remember to come over when you're done."
"I understand." Shen Weian waved his hand perfunctorily.
Qin Qin took a deep breath before going upstairs.
Ruan Yuntang stood at the back and took everything in. Then she walked to the restaurant and looked at Jiang Yubai who was being interrogated alone.
"I heard that you left the Ruan family yesterday afternoon. Why did you come back?"
"When did you come back? What was your purpose? What time did you go to bed last night?"
The police's questioning became more and more severe, almost like shouting.
Even from a distance, Ruan Yuntang could feel that his saliva was spurting out.
The man sitting opposite him had a calm expression, as if he was used to it. He replied:
"Get your luggage, eight o'clock, go to bed, half past eight."
He leaned back in his chair, his long legs crossed, and twirled a wooden chopstick in his right hand as he spoke.
The feeling of relaxation from the inside out made the middle-aged police officer inexplicably unhappy, and he slammed the table and shouted:
"Be serious! If you don't tell the truth, I'll arrest you. Believe it or not!"
Facing the threats from the police, he only slightly raised the corners of his mouth, a broken and dangerous smile, like the oppressive dark clouds before a rainstorm.
"Believe it, of course I should." He stopped spinning the chopsticks and started holding them with his fingers instead.
Ruan Yuntang inexplicably felt that he looked like he was holding a cigarette, and his whole body exuded a gloomy and decadent air, which was a bit pitiful.
All this was a provocation in the eyes of the police officer, and he slammed the table and stood up.
She suddenly felt a little reluctant, and before the police grabbed his collar, she said:
"He paid for accommodation here, and I saw him go back to his room to sleep last night. This case has nothing to do with him."
The police officer stiffly withdrew his hand and looked at the girl who suddenly appeared with a bad expression.
"How can you be sure he has nothing to do with it? Your father just said that he maliciously hurt people during the day and sneaked back at night. It's hard to guarantee that he wasn't just motivated by money!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a sneer suddenly filled the air.
The police officer's face suddenly turned pale.
Ruan Yuntang quickly stood in front of Jiang Yubai and explained with a red face:
"That's all my dad's nonsense. He didn't agree with me dating him, so we had some conflicts. He came back last night just to comfort me."
The air froze in an instant.
The words "He came back just to coax me last night" echoed in Jiang Yubai's ears, and the word "ridiculous" came to his mind. In his anger, he inadvertently glanced at the girl's bright red earlobe, and his eyes froze.
The policeman looked at the girl's shy face, suddenly understood what was going on, and gave Ruan Yuntang a lecture and a scolding.
Ruan Yuntang listened silently and nodded honestly, and only breathed a sigh of relief after the police left.
She turned her head and suddenly met a pair of scrutinizing black eyes.
Before he could question her, she spoke first: "I don't have any purpose, I just can't bear to see innocent people being wrongly accused."
Can't stand seeing innocent people being wrongly accused?
Jiang Yubai suddenly wanted to laugh, with a broken coldness surging in his dark eyes, and a mocking arc appeared at the corners of his lips.
So wasn't his seven years in prison innocent?
Ruan Yuntang met his sarcastic eyes and felt a pang in his heart.
She helped him and didn't ask for his gratitude, but she couldn't treat him like an enemy either.
She was about to question when Shen Weian’s voice suddenly came from behind her.
"Come here!"
Ruan Yuntang looked at Shen Weian, who was standing outside the restaurant with an unhappy face, and walked over with a low sigh.
As soon as they went out, Shen Weian roughly dragged her to the corner and scolded her.
"Haven't you already decided to marry Xiaochuan? Why did you tell the police that you and Jiang Yubai were dating?"
"How can you be so fickle! Do you have any sense of shame? Do you still have any shame?"
"I think you deserved it when Xiaoxiao called you a slut that day!"
Ruan Yuntang met his eyes filled with disgust and hatred, and suddenly felt confused.
How could a father scold his own daughter like that just because of a disagreement?
"Am I really your daughter?"
Shen Weian's eyes suddenly changed, and he swallowed back the insults in his mouth, and said angrily: "If you are not my daughter, whose daughter can you be?"
"Don't change the subject, I'm talking about you and Xiaochuan!"
Ruan Yuntang noticed something strange in his eyes and was slightly shocked, as if he had just eaten a shocking piece of news.
Could it be possible that the original owner was not Shen Weian's biological daughter?
"I tell you, I will never allow you to marry an orphan without a father or a mother. I only recognize Xiaochuan as my son-in-law!" Shen Weian warned her when he saw that she didn't say anything.
"So what if he is an orphan? Didn't he become the leader of the group on his own?" Ruan Yuntang couldn't help but refute.
Then, before Shen Weian could get furious, she spoke first:
"Don't worry, I will definitely marry Yang Chuan. I just didn't want to wrongly accuse an innocent person."
"What injustice? Maybe he did it for the money!" Shen Wei'an relaxed a little, but couldn't help cursing.
So many things were missing from the house and we can’t find the murderer. It would be great if we could help Yang Chuan get rid of Jiang Yubai!
Ruan Yuntang saw through his thoughts and warned: "If you continue to frame Brother Chuan's comrades, I won't get married!"
Shen Weian instantly became obedient and raised his hand to promise.
The person on the other side of the wall heard everything, pursed his lips into a cold straight line, and the wooden chopsticks between his fingers broke with a "crack".
